A small brunette boy, with fearful blue eyes clings on to the shivering hand of his mother and the raven-haired woman pulls the small boy closer to her body. They walk home in the dark of the nighttime streets and nearly stumble as the chaotic nightlife of the town buzzes around them.
".. Pit..." The small boy's mother rasps with her hoarse voice as she stops for a moment to catch her breath. "Mom?" The boy stops and looks back at his mother in concern as she begins to cough. "Mom, are you okay? We're almost home, do you need your medicine?" He presses the bag they'd recently gone out to purchase towards her and she coughs just a bit more before waving it away once she recollects her breath. "I-I'm fine, honey, I'm fine.. I'm sorry, I-I'm okay, let's keep going." She reassures her child the best she possibly can, but despite that the little boy worries.
As the two begin to approach the beginning of their neighborhood in the housing part of the city the air grows dense around them and everything fogs up, making it harder to see. The dark haired woman holding her son's hand begins to cough again, louder this time, and nearly drops to the floor as it grows harder to breathe. "Mom!" Her little boy cries and leads her to the side of a house for her to sit and calm her breathing. Beforehand the little boy removes his coat and lays it on the ground so his mother can rest on it instead of the cold floor.
And even though the gesture was kind his mother protests as best she can. "P-pit, honey! N-no I'm- Honestly dear hea-heavens, you'll catch your death out here!" She coughs a bit more and attempts to remove her scarf for her son to wear instead, but the despite the boy's shivering he stops her with his tiny hands and pulls the prescription pills out of the tiny white bag they'd just gotten. He tries to glance over the label of the container before opening it, but he can't read the large confusing letters in the dark. Instead he just tries his hardest to pull the screwed top open and looks towards his mother. "Mom, how many are you supposed to ta-"
"Hey, you! What's that you got there?" A strange looking man appeared and attempted to grab for the bottle of pills the small boy held in his hands. Holding the pills away from the scary stranger the small brunette boy took a step back and warily spoke to the man in the trench coat. "L-listen Mister, please. My- My mom is sick and she needs a doctor. We need help! Can you help us, please?"
"W-wait Pit. Don't.. Don't talk to hi-" The mother tries to warn her son away from the man, but it's all for not when the man begins speaking again. "Your mom's sick, ey?" The little boy nods and a grotesque smiles grows on the stranger's face. "Listen here kid you give me the shit you got and I'll let you and your mom of yours of free." "Free..?" The little boy's timid voice rings out and both he and his fatigued mother let out a shocked gasp when the man pulls out a gun from one of his pockets.
The mother screams out of terror and reaches for her little boy when the man fiddles with the trigger and aims towards the child's head. "Just give me the pills you little shit!" The armed man shouts loudly causing the little boy to tear up and curl into his mother. "B-but my mom n-needs these t-to live." The little boy hiccups and the man's face grows a scowl. "'My mom needs em, yada, yada, yada'!" He mocks the little boy before shoving the barrel of his gun to the mother's temple. "You think I give a crap if your mother needs em, kid? They're pills, I could get good money from em and you're gonna fork em over, Our your mom's not gonna need em any longer!" He pushes the gun closer into the woman's raven locks and the lady begins to sob as she cradles her little boy.
"Please don't hurt my son, please don't hurt my son-" is all the lady can be heard crying as her son shakes in terror. "Y-you can have them just-!" The little boy tries to offer up the pills in exchange for his and his mother's lives until a light is shined on them and three police offers along with a middle aged couple in sleeping clothes stand threateningly at the beginning of the alley. "Sir, step away from them!" A police officer threatens as him and his partners raise their guns and the husband pulls his wife closer.
The stranger with his own gun looks around, knowing he has no chance of escape now.
But he still doesn't give up.
"Oh hell no." The man mutters to himself before shooting the boy's mother and grabbing the bottle of pills from the child that's in shock. The police begin their pursuit and fire of the man, but to the little boy it's too late, his mother was shot.
Crimson blood as red as the woman's large red eyes began to pour from a spot in her skull and the little boy in her arms cried out in horror from the sight. The brunette boy was so traumatized by the scene of the light leaving his mother's eyes he hadn't even noticed the man and wife earlier urgently calling up an ambulance and the woman coming to console him. "Sweetie, please come with me, we called an ambulance they'll help your mama." The horrfied woman tried to console the small child and convince him to step away from his mother's body, but the young boy was mortified with terror and could only call out to his mother in hopes she was still somehow alive.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!" The scream that rang through the apartment was the loudest and most hauntingly terrifying thing I've ever heard and when it woke me I saw Pit on the side of the couch across from me shoot up in terror. "Pit!? Are you alright?" I panicked, along with Roy who slammed open his bedroom door to race out and see what happened.
But Pit didn't answer me, and I was even more worried when he looked around terrified before going green in the face. Pit stumbled out the room, fastest I've ever seen him, before running into the restroom and emptying everything he ate last night into the toilet. "Holy shit! Pit, what's wrong?" Roy and I run over and were shocked to find that Pit begins to sob as soon as Roy's hand reaches his shoulder. "Pit, speak to us!" I beg him as he curls up on the floor and hides his face and tries to stop crying. He cries out louder though, and with Roy's help I carry him back the couch. I rub my brother's back and lay his head in my knees as Roy joins and tries to soothe him by patting his legs.
"I-I-I'm Sorry! S-Sorr-ry!" Pit cries out in a terrified voice as he buries his head into my shirt. "Pit, please tell us what's wrong.." I beg in my worry. I don't know what to do and share a look with Roy who seems just as concerned. Pit grabs me by the waist and holds me close even if he's still crying. He looks up me for a moment before more tears leak from his eyes and he whimpers in fear.. in fear ..
I can't help but realize he's afraid of me and in an instant I put two and two together. "Pit! That was not your fault!" I shout quickly, hoping he heard and understood me in what I meant. He croaks out a terrified, "Yes it was!" Before beginning to cover his ears and shut his eyes tightly, trying to block out the world.
Roy looks at me curiously and I sigh, signaling that I'll let him know later. I realize now that Pit is so distraught over a memory of our mother, he did it quite a lot when we were 13 and hasn't done it in a while, I supposed he'd finally suppressed the trauma seeing as he never talked about it but it turns out I was terribly mistaken.
Roy cautiously and gently places a hand on Pit's. "Pit.. do you need to talk about it?" He questions, and even though I know he means well I shoot him a look that says 'please stop trying to help'. He catches on thankfully and removes his hand, but as soon as he's no longer being touched Pit shakes his head violently and begins to murmur. "No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no- I-I'm So s-so terrible, I-I'm Sorry, I-" Pit cuts himself off and instead tries to focus on his breathing. I encourage him to continue that by slowly pressing my hand onto his chest.
"Keep going, Pit. You're okay.." I soothe and he eventually brings his own shaky hand to hold mine. "Will he be.. alright?" Roy asks quietly, still the most concerned I've ever seen him, and I nod. "Roy, put the blanket back over him please, he's cold." I explain to Roy and despite still being a bit shocked Roy complies.
"Pit." I call my brother's name, but stop him by placing my hand on his forehead before he tries to look up at me. I don't want him to see me because of my appearance, black hair and red eyes, is the last thing he needs right now. He doesn't need to see our mother. "Pit have you calmed down?" I ask quietly and watch as he hesitantly nods his head.
Roy and I lean back, almost entirely relieved.
That is until there's a thundering knock at the door and Pit nearly chokes in terror. He coughs out a few times and I try to help him stand as the person knocking continuously persists. "Here, you stay with him in my room and I'll answer the door." Roy orders as he helps me usher my shaky brother into his bedroom.
I sit Pit down so he's sat beside me on the edge of the bed beside me and try to reassure him while we hear some lady shouting at the door. "No, That's- Please ma'am, let me explain!" Roy tries to answer and Pit whimpers as Roy's landlord tries to calm her down.
At this point even I'm terrified because everything goes quiet for a moment until Roy's protest of, "Hey, wait!-" gets cut short as someone opens the door and as the lady enters she holds out her hands cautiously towards Pit and I.
"Listen, Sweetie, I'm not here to hurt you." She speaks with reassurance in her voice towards my brother and though she's being gentle at the moment I can't help but feel protective as I scoot closer to Pit.
Pit begins to cry at the sound of the woman's voice he gasps out nervously before looking up at her and tilting his head in confusion. "M-miss Rose?" His eyes sparkle with hope as he asks the platinum blonde haired woman by her name. "How'd you know my-" The woman thinks to herself for a minute until she eyes Pit and I back and forth and raises a brow to Pit. "Pit Icarus, is that really you sweetheart?"
