(y/n) - your name
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"(y/n)!? What?" Billy quickly walked to the door, eyes widening when he saw his love standing in the rain, panting lightly with a terrified look on her face. "Princess, shit what are you doing here!?" He pulls her into the house quickly, her scrambling to hug him. "Hey, hey it's ok. I'm here." he holds her tight, ignoring his clothes getting wet as he calmed down his love who was shaking in his arms.
"Love, I'm sorry. I just needed to see you..." (y/n) stutters out, closing her eyes as she rests against his chest.
"I'm sorry, I should've come home sooner." Billy mumbles into her hair, leaning back to wipe the water off her cheeks.
"(y/n)?" Max trembles as she looked up at the girl she thought she would never see again, tears threatening to spill. Her emotions were all over the place, happiness and relief that she was alive but confused as to how and angry that Billy kept it a secret she was alive from her.
"Shit." Billy looks at his sister and back at his love who had her face buried against his chest. "Max, just close the door." she doesn't move until Billy snaps her out of it and she runs off to close the door as he heads upstairs to get (y/n) into some dry clothes. "Darling, what happened? Why are you here?" Billy could tell something was wrong when he set her down on Susan's bed, grabbing a towel to dry her off.
"Something bad... something bad was going to happen." she shivers and he quickly strips her of her wet clothes to put Susan's dry ones on her.
"What was going to happen?"
"I... I don't know. I had a bad feeling and I needed to make sure you were ok."
"Darling, I'm fine." Billy leans down in front of (y/n), holding her cheek as she leans into his touch.
"I-I just..." she grasps his hand and he frowns at how shaken his love was. "I was in that red place again... I saw you die because of the Mind Flayer again-"
"-again? Is this what you saw in your nightmare-"
"-it wasn't a nightmare. I was awake Billy. Every time I hear those clock chimes I get pulled away by something." (y/n) presses down on her headset she was wearing, covering her ears as she listened to her song on repeat.
"What did you see the first time?"
"You, my brother, everyone from Hawkins all died. I couldn't save you, save them.. It was my fault... It was all my fault-"
"-it's not your fault. You saved us! You hear me." Billy holds (y/n)'s cheeks to have her look up at him. "None of that is your fault and it won't happen and-"
"-Billy..." he turns around and sees Max standing by the doorway, eyes red from crying. "Is that... is that actually..." (y/n) looks up at Billy, unsure of what to say to his sister.
"Yeah... it's (y/n)." he says and the little redhead lets out a sob as she runs into her arms, hugging her tight.
"You're alive! You're actually alive!"
"I'm sorry Max." (y/n) whispers as she hugs her tight, Billy sitting down next to her as he rubbed his loves back.
"I don't understand-how-its not possible! Y-you died at StarCourt, we went to your funeral-you were gone!" Max leans back, wiping away her tears.
"I don't know how either..."
"We both don't know." Billy says, taking (y/n)'s hand and kissing the back of it.
"You knew! This entire time! You knew she was alive!" Max yells at her brother. "Why didn't you tell me!?"
"Everyone would've thought I was crazy. It was only a couple weeks after (y/n)'s funeral when she found me in California after escaping the lab."
"She was with you, for more than a month!?" Max growls out angrily. "And you didn't think to tell us-"
"-she lost her memories Max! Fucking hell!" Billy snaps and everyone goes quiet, Max looking at (y/n) as she frowns slightly.
"What...?"
"I didn't know who I was or have any memory before waking up in the lab..." the older girl speaks up. "All I knew was that I was hurt, really badly and I just needed to escape. I searched for Billy in California because I felt like I knew him. He had to help tell me everything that had happened here in Hawkins."
"You... you don't remember me?" Max whispers with tearful eyes.
"I know that you are Max Mayfield, Billy's stepsister and radical skater. You got sass and an attitude and you would hang out in my house. I know these things... but I have no memory of them."
"You don't remember anything? What did the lab do to you?" Max mumbles out and (y/n) lifts her shirt, revealing the discoloured patches on her body.
"I think they tried to bring me back to life... It didn't look good though and I was barely alive when I woke up." (y/n) drops her shirt.
"How do I even know you're actually (y/n)? How do you know she's not some fake person?" Mac asks Billy and he looks at his love, holding his hand.
"She had my mother's necklace..." he whispers and Max freezes. She knew about the necklace, it was one of a kind. She found it snooping around Billy's room one day. (y/n) held the necklace around her neck and Max sees it.
It really was her.
"I still can't believe it... Wait till the others find out-"
"-no." Billy stops Max, grabbing her arm. "They can't know... not yet."
"But-"
"-(y/f/n) is declared dead in Hawkins. How do you think people are going to react to seeing a dead girl alive again? Those people from the lab might still be after (y/n)." Max purses her lips but nods. The doorbell suddenly rings and all three freeze in panic.
"You don't think they found her!? Already!?" Max gasps and Villy pulls (y/n) close.
"Both of you stay here. Don't move." he says, leaving the bedroom to answer the door. Billy looks through the peephole, seeing a stranger with his back to the door, a cap on his head. "What do you want?"
"You ordered pizza?" Billy opens the door, nodding in relief that it was just the delivery boy. He takes the pizza and pays the kid, locking the door.
"It's just pizza!" he calls out, snickering as he hears feet padding on the floor until his girls jump on the couch. "Your pizza you gremlins." he chuckles as Max dives in to eat, watching (y/n) as she looked around the place in confusion.
"This place... looks familiar."
"It's because it was your home." Max muffles out, eating. (y/n) stands up, looking around the place and Billy keeps an eye on her. "We used to live in the house opposite to you." the older girl walks to the shelf filled with random items that obviously weren't hers, seeing something fallen in the far back.
"There's something here." (y/n) leans over and grabs it, taking out a framed picture of a collage of the whole Hawkins group including her and Billy together.
"I must've missed packing that." Billy mutters as he peeked over (y/n)'s shoulder to look at the photograph. "We can take it home-"
"-I think it looks nicer here." (y/n) places the frame on the shelf, smiling as Billy hugs her from behind.
"I missed you darling."
"I missed you too love." Billy smiles at the pet name, kissing her neck and her cheek. (y/n) felt like she was home again with him. Max grins happily from the couch seeing her brother and her friend be so happy together.
"So, whens the wedding?" the two adults freeze and look at Max who had a wide grin, their cheeks flushing.
"Just eat you little shit." Billy rolls his eyes, pulling (y/n) to the couch to eat. She sat in the middle between the siblings, Max laying her head against her shoulder.
"Tell me everything that's happened so far. With school, friends. How is the group?" Max spurs into a long discussion of everything that's happened, how high school was going, her favourite and not favourite subjects, and which teachers she liked or didn't. Billy just leans back into the couch, a content smile on his face knowing his two girls were safe.
"Oh! There's a big basketball game tomorrow. It's usually boring but maybe you can come with?"
"Sure-"
"-no, absolutely not." Billy cuts in, not happy with the conversation that was happening.
"Please, Billy! She can wear a disguise or something! No one will know. This town is so forgetful."
"Max that's a shitty idea and you know it."
"But I want her to come tomorrow! Maybe it might jog her memories if she saw the school!"
"I know it sounds risky love but it wouldn't hurt to try right? I really do want to get my memories back." (y/n) looks at Billy with a sweet smile and he knows he cant win against her. "I don't want to never remember what we went through together, bad memories or good. I want to remember." Billy sighs nodding and the girls cheer. Secretly, he did want (y/n) to remember the good times they had together.
"Fine but you need to wear something that won't draw attention to yourself." (y/n) and Max hi-five each other, going back to watch TV and eat pizza. The three soon knock off to bed after a couple of hours, feeling tired. Max yells out goodnight from her room which used to be (y/n)'s as (y/n) and Billy stay in Susan's room which used to be Billy's aka, the guestroom.
"Love, don't worry. I'm not going t stray far from you tomorrow. I'll stay by your side." (y/n) smiles seeing Billy all sulky as the two got into bed.
"I know, I'm just worried."
"Everything will be fine." Billy smiles into (y/n)'s neck as she cuddles into his chest, pulling her close. "I love you Billy." his heart flips in his chest, heat rushing through him as his princess muffles her words into his chest.
"I love you too (y/n)."
Maybe tomorrow, I could take her around to all the places we went to... jog her memory.
