Chapter 4
Monday
Astrid's P.O.V.
I walked into the school and sat at my table with a tired sigh. Another Monday. "Hey, Astrid, great party Friday," Eret said as he sat next to me.
"Glad one of us enjoyed it," I say.
"What, you didn't have fun at your own party?" he asks.
"Can't say that I did," I tell him.
"Why not?" I paused, reviewing the events of Friday night, and deciding to leave out the crying.
"I think I made out with someone," Eret gasps as hearing this.
"Who?" he asks, lowering his voice.
"I don't know," I say nervously.
"You never make out with anyone!" shock was dancing on his lips.
"I know!" I hiss, panic rising in my stomach.
"Can you at least say it was good?" he asks and my shoulders slump.
"I don't have anything to compare it to," I tell him blankly.
Hiccup's P.O.V.
I sat at my table with a tired sigh, soon joined by Snotlout and the guys. "So, Hiccup. Have any thoughts about the party?" Snotlout asks teasingly.
"Should I?" I ask.
"I'd think you would," he says.
"Why?"
"You made out with Astrid," he says smugly. I froze.
"That's funny," I say blankly.
"Haven't you heard that she made out with someone but can't remember who it was? I walked into the bathroom and you were gettin' the tongue," he explained excitedly, making me cringe.
"Oh, my Thor!" I buried my face in my hands. "Really?" I was shocked at the hope in my voice. He nodded as the others looked at me with proud smirks. Stop looking at me like that! I can't believe I made out with the wildest, most popular, sluttiest...friendliest, prettiest, and most talented girl on the face of the earth. It suddenly all came back to me.
Flahsback
Astrid's shoulders shook as she cried over the sink. I had no idea she'd been through so much. Her father died before her eyes and she and her mother blamed her. Without controlling my body, I gently cupped her face in my hands and looked into her tear stained eyes. I then slowly connected our lips. I felt her stiffen for a moment before she melted into the kiss. I had no idea what I was doing; I was standing beside myself as I nibbled her lip. She opened her mouth before our tongues wrestled, my hands holding her bandaged ones.
End of flashback
"Oh, my Thor!" I shouted before running to the library. I froze as I saw Astrid between the shelves. She never came to the library. I thought she'd freak out if she saw me but instead, when she looked up, she just showed me a small smile.
"Hey, Toothpick," she chirped before going to a table. She she really didn't remember making out with me? Or did she just think it was normal? Was she trying to hide her humiliation? Was she trying to erase everything from her mind? Not wanting to talk in the library, I took a piece of paper from my bag.
I want to talk. Can you meet me at the bleachers after school? -Toothpick.
I fold the paper and hand it to her as I walked by, not breaking stride on my way for the door.
3:30
Astrid's P.O.V.
I put my bag on my shoulder and was about to walk away from my locker but ran into Eret's chest. "Yo, Astrid. You. Me. Heather. The gang. Skate park?" he suggests.
"Sorry. Can't. Gotta meet with Toothpick; he wants to talk about something," I tell him.
"Hmm," he grumbles.
"I'll meet up with you guys later," I say before walking out the back door of the school and going to the bleachers. "Toothpick!" I call as I see him. He looks at me before standing and walking over to meet me. "I already know what you're gonna say," I tell him before he could open his mouth.
"Y-You do?" he asks.
"Yup. I just need to ask you to not tell anyone," I say before he paused.
"What?"
"Look, T, everyone in the grade still thinks that my dad is still alive; you're the first person I told. You're the first person in this school who has actually seen me cry. What you saw Friday morning was the only thing I've let anyone see. They all think I can't cry. Please, you can't tell anyone," I beg.
"Oh, uh...yeah, yeah, s-sure. Your secret's safe with me," he says.
"You didn't tell anyone did you?" I ask and he shakes his head. "Okay, good. I'll see you tomorrow," I say before walking down the bleachers.
"How are your hands?" he calls and I pause before glancing at my fists. I had hidden my hands all day with black leather finger-less gloves but they still had a small layer of gauze on them. I slowly turned to look at him.
"They're better. Stopped bleeding over the weekend. Thanks again," I say with a small smile and he nods before I turn and continue to my car. I sat in the drivers seat and thought about joining my friends as I started the engine. I looked up to see Toothpick climbing down the bleachers and walking to the forest. I never really noticed him until last year, and then I had to act like I still didn't. I didn't really thank him properly...
Flashback
I fixed the skirt of the uncomfortable dress before marching down the catwalk. I was scowling at the lasers and lights that almost blinded me. When I got to the end of the walk, I paused and put my hand on my hip as I attempted a sexy-ish pose. The school was being stupid with this student fashion show. I mean, I get that the kids in sewing design have to show their outfits, but why did Heather have to pull me into this and make a stupid, clingy, cocktail dress?! On my walk back up the catwalk, my leg cramped with the uncomfortable high heels, making me collapse with a cry of pain. Everyone started murmuring worriedly as I clutched my calf, the muscle tearing itself apart. My face scrunched up in agony and my mouth opened only for nothing to come out.
"Astrid!" Heather shouted as she ran from backstage and Eret climbed onto the walk. Ruffnut ran out from back stage as well, dressed in her brothers warrior outfit.
"Don't touch!" I scream as Eret tries to loosen the muscle.
"Back up!" someone shouted before firm hands wrapped around my leg.
"Don't touch!" I repeat but the person ignored me as they massaged my calf with one hand and grabbing my foot in their other. They twisted my foot to help stretch the muscle. I panted in pain before my leg slowly relaxed. I looked around the crowd of my friends, before my eyes landed on the person who had reduced to digging his fingers into my calf. He had shaggy auburn hair that fell over his forehead and, when he looked at me, his forest green eyes were the first thing I noticed. He stands up and extends his hand. I slowly took it before he pulled me to my feet.
"It'll hurt but if you ice it everyday, it should clear up in about a week," he tells me and I and before he walks off the stage, leaving me to be supported up by Eret.
End of flashback
Second time he's helped me. And ever since we met, I've done nothing but ignore him...
"What is wrong with me?!" I shout before speeding out of the parking lot. I needed my entourage.
