*Chapter 4*

Blake's P.O.V

I thought that I had arrived late to class, but I was surprised that I was actually early. Or maybe on time. I think most of the girls were busy applying make-up before the class. And all the guys must be doing some gross discussions about their nightly activities.

I had biology with Mrs. Crimson.

The class was empty. It was all very quiet. Exactly how a typical country town should be like.

I don't like getting noticed much. I mean it's easier to hide behind a hoodie and wait for my day to get over.

I walk till the last row, away from the prying eyes, and settle down in an empty seat.

I rub my eyes to get out of my sleepy mood. But as my vision clears, I see a paper stuck to my seat.

Wait. How many notes am I even going to get. First at home, then in my locker and now this? Unbelievable!

I was new here. Okay, not so new, as I used to study here like 3 years ago. But still. Who would write me a note? But it's not the note I'm worried about. It's the message scrawled across it.

Enjoy your last days of freedom, sweetheart.

~ Yours Truly

I crumple the note and stuff it deep into my bag. Lest anyone should barge in and find me holding a strange note.

~***~

I was in a bad mood the entire day. The knowledge that there was a note weighing down my bag didn't seem to help either.

When it was finally time to go home, I waited with 'Jo' for dad to pick us up. Luckily, he was early otherwise I would have to spend the entire time listening to her drool over this guy named Jason.

I looked out of the window as the car sped away. The weather was cold and breezy and the evening was turning darker by the growing second. Actually Pinehill was a really quiet place with tall trees, a silent wood and a calm river. But as we were passing along the road near the river, dad suddenly stopped the car. Confused I looked out to find the road blocked by many police cars and a huge crowd. Dad got out of the car and I started walking behind him.

What I saw was scarier than my scariest nightmares. Right on the river bank lay a girl, who looked around my age. Her head was turned towards me and it looked as if her cold and dead eyes were boring into mine. There were many stabs and cuts on her body and a long scar on one side of her face.

"Poor girl, she must be the sixth one till now."

"I know. But aren't they supposed to be listening to the news?"

I couldn't help but eavesdrop on their conversation. I was as curious as a cat and well, we are talking about a murder over here, after all.

"But still, six victims in just two months? Kids should be careful about the people they acquaint themselves with."

"Oh, yes. You can trust no one these days. What creeps me the most is that we live in a small town and there is a possibility that a murderer is roaming among our midst."

"It could be worse! Maybe it is someone we know!"

"Oh my! I just have to tell Juniper about this. This is disastrous!"

"I know..."

I tuned out of their conversation out of that. So this was what everyone was warning me about. There is a murderer on the loose and people are terrified about who is going to be the next victim. I got this rather weird sensation of being watched, again. However, as their was a huge crowd around me, I couldn't pin-point the exact person whose stare was bringing me the chills.

Sighing, I looked away from the crime scene and into the reflecting surface of the water. Well, the worst thing was, things were going to spice up now. I had enough drama for a lifetime.

The honking of a car shook me from my thoughts and I saw dad signalling me to come to the trunk. Well, I guess I am going to have room for one more nightmare tonight.

Killer's P.O.V

I saw my sweet Blake walking towards her father in a rather slow pace. I must have really troubled her sensitive little mind.

This made me frown. My princess should not feel all this unwanted stress. It may effect her mental health. Once I keep her safe in my custody, I should take care about that factor. Soon, she would be in my....

"Hey, bro!"

A voice chirped behind me. A flurry of blonde and I knew that it was Jack, from the football team. I didn't know him much, but we talked whenever he used to sit with us during lunch.

"Funny, It was just a few days ago that I saw that chick making out with Mike and now she's dead."

He said staring back at the crowd with a cocky face.

"Yeah...I guess that I saw her in Tiffany's party too."

"Huh..."

He looks at me and and back at his car where Tiffany, his girlfriend was sobbing silently. Then he looks back at me and whispers.

"I have to admit. Mia was a bitch sometimes. So, it could have been anyone at school or anywhere who did her in. But still, I think she doesn't deserve to die like this. What do you think about her?"

I thought about this question for a while and smiled inwardly .

"Well, she was a great hook-up, man. That's all."

But I do think something about Mia Thorns that I wouldn't admit out loud. Ever.

She really sucked at playing games.
