Chapter 1
This is a High school Dxd story that takes place in the beginning with a guy named (Y/n) Ryota. He's a 2nd year in class 2-A he started off in class 2-B, but was shown to be smarter than those in his class. Aside from that (Y/n) is a pretty normal guy, standing at a 5'8, blonde hair, piercing yellow eyes that turn sunset orange when the sun goes down, wears glasses, he blends in with the crowd not wanting to stir up trouble or get caught with drama. He reads, but he is self taught when it comes to fighting and martial arts. It was a way to keep his mind busy. Also he's pretty athletic.
Let's begin
Home life for (Y/n) would be good, healthy and fairy tale like if alcohol and drugs never existed, unfortunately they do and both of his parents use them heavily to escape the reality that they live in. As their son (Y/n) has to do all the dirty work such as chores, keeping the house well maintained, bills even though he's only in his 2nd year in high school. His parents Hiroshi and Yuki left little to no room of affection for their only child, hence because they never wanted a child drowning themselves into their one true love alcoholism and drug use.
- Scene Change -
6:15am
*Alarm clock going off*
(Y/n) woke up to the familiar, smell of alcohol and smoke that covered the entirety of the small house.
(Y/n): *Sighed, rubbing the sleep from his eyes, and glanced at the clock*
It was early, but he knew he had to get up and start his day. He decided to cook breakfast for his parents despite everything they've done and said to him.
Walking downstairs he found them sprawled out in the living room, his father halfway on the couch and his mother on the floor underneath the table. The sight was disheartening but not surprising. (Y/n) sighed pinching his nose then moved quietly to the kitchen, trying not to wake them as he prepared a simple meal for them. Dishes moving around and the sizzle of eggs filled the silence.
Once breakfast was ready, he approached his parents.
(Y/n): Food's done..
He said softly, hoping for a moment of peace. But his mother stirred and, without even opening her eyes yelling
Yuki: Get out! Quit yelling can't you see we're trying to sleep! You dumbass!
Her words cut deep, but (Y/n) had heard worse. He swallowed the hurt turning away, grabbing his bag and heading out the door.
As he walked to school, the morning air felt heavy with the weight of his thoughts.
(Y/n): 'Why do I even bother trying to reason with them...?'
He wondered, but deep down, he knew the answer. Despite everything, they were still his parents, and he held onto a sliver of hope that things might one day change. Unfortunately some people aren't capable of change, he continued on his way to Kuoh Academy, ready to face another day.
- At Kuoh Academy -
(Y/n) walks through the gates of Kuoh Academy up until a few years ago it was an all girl school but now is universal for both male and female but with that crazy change came the "Perverted Trio"
Out of the entire school these 3 individuals have to be the worse. (Y/n) was walking into the main building to see the 3 guys plotting and talking about the girls and their "sizes". (Y/n) ignored them because he was preoccupied with his own troubles, continuing his walk towards the stairs everyone crowded the main building to fawn over the student council members walking, then some members of another club named the ORC.
They caused more students to gather around making a huge crowd, not wanting to get caught in the mix (Y/n) blended into the crowd coming out at the end of it going to class 2-B.
Eventually all the students finally cleared the hallway and settling into their seats, the teacher stood up and cleared his throat to get everyone's attention.
Teacher: Alright, class, before we start our assignment for today, I have an important announcement to make. Due to outstanding grades and exam performances, one of our students will be transferring to class 2-A.
The students began to murmur amongst themselves, curious about who it could be. Some wishing and saying it's them others saying, "I know for damn sure it's not me. I don't care enough to get that high of grades."
The teacher continued,
Teacher: That student is (Y/n) Ryota.
All eyes in the class turned to him, who was sitting quietly at his desk. He felt a mix of emotions pride for his achievements but also a little bit of anxiety. The teacher gestured for him to come forward.
Teacher: (Y/n), please gather your things and head to class 2-A, also congratulations young man, I'm sure your parents would be very proud of your achievement, it's not everyday a student transfers classes mid way through the year.
(Y/n) nodded, standing up and collecting his belongings. As he walked out of the classroom, he could still feel the eyes of his classmates on him, some filled with admiration, others with envy.

After transferring into class 2-A everything seemed to be more easy and more manageable, the bell rang for lunch and a lot of the students rushed out finding their friends. (Y/n) on the other hand sat under the shade of a large tree on the school grounds, his back resting against the tree as he relaxed. The sun casted patterns of the tree and its leaves on the grass around him, creating a peaceful environment away from the other students during lunchtime. He had his school jacket laid out beside him, serving as a makeshift cushion for his food and some class supplies.
Bringing his knees close to his chest using them as support he started drawing, lost in his art, (Y/n)'s pencil traced across the paper, capturing the intricate details of the design in his head. Drawing was another escape, a way to momentarily forget the pain of his home life.
(Y/n)'s thoughts drifted to the turmoil he faced daily. He wondered why his parents chose substances over him, why their love was buried beneath layers of addiction and anger. Often feeling unbearable, that sometimes there is no redemption for them and there's no means to this life, but in his art, he found a since of peace except for when he was training which was another way of clearing his head.
Then all of sudden a shift in the light drew his attention, and he looked up from his sketchbook. There, standing a short distance away, was Rias Gremory. Her crimson hair flowed like a fire, and her presence exuded confidence and royalty. Their eyes met, and for a moment, time seemed to stand still. (Y/n) was captivated by her beauty and the strength she seemed to embody.
Rias held his gaze, her eyes soft and curious, before she turned away gracefully and walked towards the school building. (Y/n) watched her until she disappeared from sight, feeling a strange mix of awe and longing. A soft smile formed on his lips as he returned to his sketchbook.
He took a bite of his lunch, (Y/n) continued his drawing, the image of Rias lingering in his mind. For the first time in a long while, he felt a spark of optimism, believing that perhaps, his life could change for the better.
Rias entered the school building, she felt Akeno's presence behind her. The familiar, comforting aura of her best friend and vice president of the Occult Research Club was always a welcome feeling. Akeno had been with her through countless challenges, her insight was something Rias valued deeply, and the fact that she is Rias' best friend helps as well.
Rias: Akeno, who is that boy? The one sitting under the tree with the sketchbook over there?
Akeno's eyes followed Rias's gaze back towards the courtyard.
Akeno: Oh him? I believe that is (Y/n) Ryota. He's a recent transfer from class 2-B to class 2-A. Apparently, his grades and test scores were that impressive enough to warrant the change.
Rias nodded, absorbing the information then posed another question.
Rias: Aside from that do you know anything else about him?
Akeno shook her head slightly.
Akeno: Not much, I'm afraid. He tends to fade into the crowd. Most students don't seem to notice him, and he keeps to himself a lot.
Rias felt a wave of curiosity and perhaps a bit of concern. It wasn't like her to be so intrigued by someone she knew so little about.
Rias: I see. Thank you, Akeno.
Akeno gave her a reassuring smile.
Akeno: Don't worry Rias if you want to know more, I'm sure we'll find a way. After all there's very little that escapes our notice for long.
Rias smiled back, feeling a bit more at ease.
Rias: You're right, we'll see what unfolds. For now, let's focus on our club activities and that other browned hair boy.
As they continued down the hallway, Rias couldn't help but glance back one more time, her thoughts lingering on the mysterious boy named (Y/n). She had a feeling that their paths were destined to cross again, and when they did she would be ready to learn more about the boy who had so unexpectedly captured her interest.
-Another TimeSkip-
As the school day wrapped up, (Y/n) started his walk home, the weight of loneliness settling in. He was lost in thought, dreading of what's to come inside that house, when suddenly, a small white kitten darted into the street. Without a second thought, he sprinted forward, scooping the kitten up and jumping forward to get out of the street as he landed in the bushes, and just in time to avoid the speeding car that was approaching.
Gently cradling the frightened kitten, he recognized it as Koneko's cat, as he looked up at saw Koneko on the other side of the street. With a soft smile he made his way to her, kneeling down to hand the kitten back. Koneko's eyes widened in surprise and gratitude, ready to thank him for his kindness, her cat jumped out of her arms making her turn around before grabbing him again.
But just as she turned around and opened her mouth to speak he was gone, leaving Koneko standing there, bewildered, with her cat in her arms. Shrugging it off she walked up some steps away from the Main Street to see Akeno
Aleno: What did you learn about him if you found out anything interesting?
Koneko shrugged slightly saying
Koneko: Not much, aside from that he's a good-hearted individual. He's good with animals since my familiar, who normally doesn't like people, especially boys, nuzzled his hand before he returned him to me. But there's something strange about him... he smells off, like he might not be completely human. There's something inside him that's not normal.
Akeno raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Koneko's observation.
Akeno: Well that certainly is interesting~. We'll have to keep a close eye on him. There might be more to (Y/n) than meets the eye.
Koneko nodded, knowing that although (Y/ n) seemed like a good person, there was a mystery there that needed to unraveled.
-The Ryota Resident-
After getting home he saw no sight of his mother but his father was outside on the back porch with an almost empty bottle in his hands. This made (Y/n)'s eyes fall and sighed thinking back to what the teacher said. "I'm sure your parents would be very proud of your achievement, it's not everyday a student transfers classes mid way through the year."
(Y/n): Yeah right.. but the whiskey is almost gone so he might be in a talking mood.
Walking out to the back porch (Y/n) spoke out saying
(Y/n): Dad, I have some good news.. I was able to transfer classes because my test scores and exams were higher than my classmates.
His father stirred, his eyes bloodshot and unfocused. Suddenly, he smashed the bottle against the ground, the shards scattering. As (Y/n) backed up his father got in his face, the smell of alcohol strong on his breath.
Hiroshi: You think you're better than me!?
he roared, grabbing (Y/n) by his shirt and throwing him against the wall.
Hiroshi: Without me, you wouldn't be here, you ungrateful brat! You live under my roof, eat my food! Then you decide to thank me and your mother by boasting like you're the main character!
(Y/n) tried to fight him off, but his father's grip was too strong. He was thrown to the side, landing hard on the floor, some of the shattered glass from the bottle cut his cheek.
Hiroshi: Get out of my sight or be of use and grab me another beer.
Hiroshi went back to sitting on the chair looking into the forest. (Y/n) slowly got doing as he was told, fetching another beer for his father before retreating upstairs. He knew his mother would be home soon, and he wanted to avoid any further confrontation.
Once (Y/n) got to his room he pulled out the leftovers from his lunch, eating in silence. The events of the night weighed heavily on him, but he tried to push them aside. As he lay down, he hoped for sleep to take him away from the harsh reality of his life, even if just for a few hours.
He closed his eyes as reality slowly started catching up, knowing he barely to no friends, he's great at academics but his parents hate him. Great at martial arts with no one around to see his progress, no excitement in his life. He has everything excuse to become a villain.. He has every right to do wrong. With every bone and fiber in his body saying he can just run, he can do everything bad
(Y/n): I hate this... I need something to change...
