Sapphire pov

"Jadeite?" I ask, horrified by what I'm seeing.

"Oh no," She groans. "Sapphire, I don't have time for this. I'm trying to save your mother and aunts from this spy." Ruby? A spy? I can't believe it.

"Ruby?" I ask, thoroughly choosing what to say. "Is this true?"

"No!" Ruby yells. Well, tries to yell. Jadeite has her by the throat.

"Don't believe this traitor,"  Jadeite hisses "We've been tracking rebels for a month now,"

I can feel the tears forming in my eye.

"Ruby... how? How could you spy on my mother?" Ruby looks at me with eyes full of dread.

"Sapphire, I would never do anything to hurt you. I just overheard-" Jadeite cuts her off.

"You 'overheard' secrets that only the Diamonds can know!" A first tear falls from my eye, leaving a small pool of ice on the floor. Jadeite and Ruby take notice.

"Look what you've done!" Jadeite drops  Ruby, who tries to comfort me.

"Sapphire, I-"

"Don't touch me!" I slap her hand away, leaving her dumbfounded.  I race away at high speed, leaving ice behind me.

I'm glad mother made- I mean asked me to wear this suit instead of my usual dress.

Time skip

I sigh, running my fingers through my hair.

Mother always needs me to be perfect when I present myself to her and my Aunts.

Cautiously, I raise my hand to knock, but stop moments before I hit the door.

"What if I was wrong?" I ask under my breath. I've been wrong before. Mother knows that.

"I can't believe her," My mother's voice rings through my head.

"You can't expect her to be a good gem," My Aunt white sighs.

It's only now that I realize this is really happening.

"What are you saying?" My mother threatens.

"Sapphire is too trusting. She'll believe anyone is good for her, and then She'll turn against them the second she hears something she doesn't like," My Aunt Yellow points out calmly.

"What's your point?" My mother asks.

"That someday she'll turn on us." My aunt White confirms."

Someday she'll turn on us...
