Ruby pov

"Attention! All hands to the docking bay, expecting the arrival of Yellow Diamond." I sigh, and await my orders.

"Ruby 243! You'll be part of Yellow Diamond's tour group. " I blink. I don't get much big work, much less any work when Yellow Diamond takes her monthly visit.

"Is there a problem?" Jasper sighs.

"No ma'am!"

"Then shut the hell up!"

I nod, and when she finishes I go to the docking bay.

"Here she is!" Somebody shouts as the ship lands.

"Hello, faithful citizens." Yellow Diamond calls, only her silhouette visible. There are two figures behind her. "This time, I have not come alone. " The lights turn on, and Blue and White Diamond appear behind her.

I gasp at the sight of two of the other Diamonds. It's  no surprise that Pink Diamond isn't here too. She's always inspecting Kindergarten statuses on other planets.

The big surprise is what comes next.  Sapphire steps out to the front of the crowd.

"Mother!" She yells joyfully, running to Blue Diamond's side.

"Sapphire, darling," Blue Diamond says, over emphasizing darling like she was trained to say it.

All around the room hushed whispers and gasps(one loud one that has to be from Red Beryl) escape from gems' mouths.

"Listen, all of you!" Yellow Diamond calls, her cold, stern voice carrying though out the hanger. "Today we come, not for the usual check in, but to run some experimental tests! All of you are to behave with class, or else you will be crushed! " Her voice sends chills down my spine, but nothing can compare to the news if Sapphire being Blue Diamond's daughter.

If only I'd known... I think, I would have respected her more!

*Timeskip to later that day*

"Broken air vent..." I grumble, upset that I have such an undignified job.

"Don't worry miss, your daughter will be safe with me." I gasp, and hide behind an arch as I see the green gem and Sapphire step out of the Diamond suit.

"Thank you, Jadite. We'll be expecting you back for dinner." Whichever Diamond it is closes the door, and I locate the vent next to the room.

"Blue, you should really reconsider," Yellow Diamond's familiar voice says, obviously stressed.

"Yellow is right. Your experiments have never worked before," White Diamond agrees.

Intrigued, I crawl inside the air vent, where for the first time my size is useful.

Blue Diamond stomps her foot, and knocks some bottles to the floor.

"This one will work! With my class and Black Sapphire's strength, Sapphire should be a stable gem!" I gasp. Sapphire is just an experiment?

White Diamond stands up. She's a little shorter than the other two, but much more refined. "I believe that this bickering is unhealthy for the Pearls," She sighs, with fake dramatics.

"Oh, you know Pearls." Yellow Diamond sighs, sitting in an armchair.

Blue Diamond steps up. "But nevertheless, I have every faith in Sapphire. "

"She'll not last," Yellow Diamond warns.

"I have every reason to believe she will!" Blue Diamond replied, raising her voice.

"THAT'S WHAT YOU SAID ABOUT LAPIS LAZULI!" Yellow Diamond accuses. The other  two just stare in shock, until White Diamond breaks the silence.

"Well then." She sweeps up her long skirt and fur coat, and calmly walks away.

I get out of the vent, feeling like I shouldn't have heard that.

Bam!

A knife held to my throat confirms my suspicions.

"What did you hear?" Jadite barks through gritted teeth.

"Jadite?" Sapphire asks, appearing behind her.
