Chapter Six
Mark paled, Maeline was everything to him and he spent most of his time at the castle trying to impress her, but ever since Sean came into the picture, Mark's life was nothing but hell, all he wanted to do was marry Maeline and take control of the throne. Now here he was listening to Maeline and Sean about creating a ball and a charity for that matter.
"I'm sorry, milady, but did I hear that right?" Mark asked, moving his red hair tips behind his ear. "Did you say a Charity ball?"
"That's right, a charity ball for Christmas, we can invite everyone from across England! Even your family!" Maeline encouraged. Mark stayed silent inviting his family to the ball was a different story. He hadn't spoken to them in a while. If his family were to be invited and they saw how the princess was more fond of Sean than him, his parents would be extremely angry at him. But at the same time, he considered this. Thinking that maybe his family could take his side and help him get rid of this pest.
"Ethan!" Maeline called to a young man with blue hair. His brown eyes locked on the princess and ran over to her. He bowed at the princess, a smile plastered on his face ignoring Mark's protests.
"How can I be of service, your majesty?" Ethan asked.
"I need you to make the invitations, invite the best families around England," she said. "And while you're at it, invite Mark's mother and brother." Ethan took out a small book from his back pocket and wrote everything down. Ethan turned toward Mark only to cower at the sight of his anger. Ethan bowed and left to get started on the invitations. Annoyed, Mark took off back toward his chambers. This was going to make things ten times harder. But he wasn't about to give up. Especially on Maeline. The servants, Sean, and Maeline began setting up the Christmas tree and all the Christmas decorations in the ballroom. The servants brought down the Christmas bulbs and began to help decorate the tree and the castle with decorations that had been in storage for years. Colors of Christmas from red, gold, blue and green all covered the floors with Christmas cheer.
Sean, Maeline and the servants went to the stairwell next. They began decorating it with silver and red. Aligning them correctly and making the stairway look merry. After a long-time decorating, they finally finished. Now covered in Christmas colors, the group was proud of themselves. Maeline came up to him and touched his shoulder.
"I think we did good," Sean said. "This place looks way more cheerful than it did before."
"You will come to the ball, right?" Maeline asked. Sean turned to Maeline and nodded. Of course he was going to go, there was no way he'd pass up an opportunity like that. Maeline's hair was styled in straight waves. Sean had been doing his best not to blush, but Maeline had been so nice to him since he arrived. In fact, all his time at the castle made him think about his family back in Ireland. How they were busy at the restaurant making sure that they kept the place running. "This event wouldn't have been possible if it hadn't been for you, Sean."
"I wouldn't miss that ball for the world," Sean said. "But I should let you know, I don't know how to dance."
"Leave that to me," Maeline responded, smirking. "The ball isn't going to be for another three weeks," she continued. "Come on, I'll show you how to dance while the servants are still in the middle of decorating." Maeline held out her hand as Sean politely took it. He was so nervous that he couldn't think straight. His stomach churned as they arrived at a large room. It was big enough to hold a computer or even a restaurant. Maeline walked to a closet and pulled out a radio. She grabbed a brown stool and set it up against the wall, then pressed the button. The waltz started playing.
"Don't worry," says Maeline. "Just follow my lead," Sean gulped as she took Sean's hand positioning his behind her back. Maeline placed her hand on his shoulder and held onto her left hand. Maeline began to slow dance with Sean, Sean watched each step that she had done and tried to follow the moves. Despite Sean nearly tripping them, Maeline noticed that Sean was not confident. "Be confident in yourself Sean."
Sean nodded his head as he started to slow dance with Maeline, following her every move, Sean twirled Maeline and the two continued to dance finishing up with a slight dip. Sean pulled Maeline close, in the spur of the moment, Sean couldn't help himself and leaned in to kiss her. However, the music suddenly stopped.
"What is going on in here?" Mark exclaimed. Forcing the two to pull away from each other. They looked at the door to see that Mark standing there and he did not look happy. Sean smiled nervously. Worried about what Mark would do.
