Chapter 9
I'm so sorry I haven't updated in a while. Inspiration running a little low, but I found it. I was cleaning my house, you know, listening to the radio. Suddenly, Rolling In The Deep by Adele came on, allowing me to reminisce on this story. Suddenly, Bill's laugh ring's from my brothers phone, showing he was watching Dreamscapers or Weirdmaggedon. In that moment though, inspiration struck. Just the nefariousness of the laugh, combined with the song, gave me the greatest idea I've ever thought. As I continued to clean, I kept playing out scenarios, trying to find which fit best for the story. And as I got through, the climatic ending brought a grin to my face.
I knew what I was gonna do.
Get ready my little sparks.
"There's a fire starting in my heart. Reaching a fever pitch, it's bringing me out the dark."
Reader's POV
"Come on Pine Tree, let her come with me. Pleaseeeeee."
Bill whined at our front door, trying to push past Dipper, who blocked him out.
"Now that's a first, but no way Bill. We don't know what you're planning. We aren't letting (Y/N) out of our sight."
I leaned on a post near the doorway, laughing softly at the exchange between the two. Dipper had been exploring this demon on our doorstep, finding different prophecies and accounts of this creature.
"Yeah! Come on (Y/N), let's go to the mall." Mable said, grabbing my hand and yanking me from my position and out the front door. Dipper just groaned, slamming he door.
"May I accompany you two?" Bill grinned beside us, suddenly next to me with his arm across my shoulder. Mable yanked me out of Bills grasp, and pulled me faster.
I understood the dangers that this demon caused, I was told. But if anything, with my paranormal background I should be able to calm the demon. Maybe even form an alliance. Well, the alliance was already there, due to the pendant I always wore. At any moment, I could destroy it, and Bill would be stuck in the mindscape once more.
"No, Bill go away!" Mabel yelled, anger lacing her words. I just laughed, turning my head back to look at Bill. I swiped my head forward, signalling for him to join us.
The grin that spread across the demon's face mad me cringe slightly, regretting my decision.
Suddenly, we were right outside of the mall, and Bill stood in front of us grinning. Mabel was shocked, while I still tried to gain my balance.
"Dammit Bill, warn me next time you decide to teleport us across town." I whined, dusting off my clothes.
"What the heck? I told you to go away Bill!" Mabel yelled, pointing a finger angrily at the demon.
"I can't exactly leave unless Doll says so." Bill said, smirking at me. I groaned, throwing my head down in defeat.
"Just, let him be Mabel. If you let him do what he wants, he'll hopefully be less of a pain later." I groaned out, walking towards the glass doors. I pushed one open, looking behind me.
"Well you two, are you coming?"
With a smirk, the demon in the suit ran to stand next to me, while Mabel dragged her body along to catch up with us.
As we walked through the mall, The sheer presence Bill gave off seemed to push people away. Well, it might be cause he was tall, in a suit, and had a mad mans grin on his face, but it was more likely it was because that all these people were smart and could feel his dark aura.
"So, where are we going first?" I asked Mabel, turning to look at her. She looked so put out by Bill's presence, that me speaking to her seemed to snap her out of her trance.
"I don't know, I just kind of wanted to get away from that." She said, pointing at Bill blatantly. I rolled my (E/C) eyes as Bill put his hand over his chest and tried to look offended.
"Well, then, let's just go get something to eat. I haven't eaten in a while." I said, walking towards the food court.
"You ate thirty minutes ago!" Mabel yelled, running after me. Bill just walked leisurely behind us, watching the entire situation unfold.
Suddenly, I was walking in a wooded area, Mabel and Bill nowhere in sight. I stopped walking, looking around.
"Where the hell am I?!" I shouted, spinning. I groaned, trying trying to determine what direction I should go.
"Okay, why the hell do I always end up in situations like this? It's like my life is a bad fan fiction." I sneered, storming off.
I walked through a dense treeline, following it's edge, until I was met with a steep cliff side. Down below, was the small town of Gravity Falls, and all of the nature that surrounded it. I walked the edge of the cliff, observing the town, while also trying to figure out a good way down.
Up on that cliff side, I felt, powerful. I didn't quite understand it, but I felt like I was watching over the town. My movements, slow and predatory like, but with good purpose. I was moving like a cougar watching it's kittens.
My footsteps were slow, the soft placement of my feet made barely any noise on the grass. I kept my shoulders back, and my arms down at my sides. My eyes never left the town, but my ears were strained to hear anything that might be behind me.
I felt like I was watching what was mine. For whatever strange instinct that was influencing me, I felt like the town was mine. Mine to guard. Mine to control.
"Enjoying the view Doll?"
I whipped my head back, planting my feet on the ground. Bill leaned against a tree, watching me.
"How long have you been there?" I said, my voice cold and full of an authority I had no idea I possessed.
"Long enough." He said, his voice losing it's normally snarky tone. His golden hair covered both of his eyes as he continued to lean against the tree.
"I haven't heard you speak like that in years." He said finally, breaking a silence that seemed to have consumed the space we inhabited.
"What do you mean 'years'?" I asked, taking a step towards the demon.
"I guess I should explain shouldn't I? I mean, me being as nice as I've been to you, compared to the rest of your mewling race, is uncanny for me." He said, raising his head to look at me. I turned my head back, looking down at the town once more.
"You are the only being alive able to wield that necklace. The one that keeps me captive. And that is because of something that bonded with your soul when you were born. I can tell it is starting to take hold." Bill spoke, a clear edge to his voice as he moved from leaning on the tree to standing straight.
"Is that why I feel like this town belongs to me?" I asked, looking back at Bill as he walked towards me. He was soon at my side, looking down with me.
"What bonded with me?" I asked, turning my head to look at the demon. He looked over at me, a soft smile playing at his lips.
"You will know in due time (Y/N), due time."
"What is it with you and telling me to 'Wait For It'?"
"That your destiny will reveal itself soon enough."
"What if I don't believe in destiny?"
"Destiny doesn't work like religion Doll. You can't just say you don't believe in it so it doesn't apply to you. It works its ways for everyone. Even me."
"You sound like my father."
"Your father is smart."
"But you're a demon, you are far smarter than him."
"That is true. Doll, may I ask you a question?"
"Shoot dream catcher."
"You know I hate those things."
"That's why I used it."
"Do you trust me?"
"After all that I've heard about you, it's kind of hard too. But, I don't think you have any reason to betray me. I am the sole reason you can even existence in this dimension. So yes, I trust you."
"That's good."
"I would hope so. Alright demon, spill. Did you teleport me up here?"
"Would you be angry if I said yes?"
"Honestly, no I wouldn't."
