Arrival
Vale, home of the famous Beacon academy. Many would consider this place the shining light of humanity, birthplace of many young and inspiring hunters and huntresses. Their purpose? To hunt the ancient and dark forces of the Grimm. Agents of destruction who only wish to eradicate all humans. Only the future will tell what will happen to these hunters...
It was late at night in the kingdom of Vale, downtown of the kingdom where small businesses and old structures lay silent. A short figure, adorned in a bright red cloak, was walking while humming a tune. The person walked the corner and to a small Dust store, the chime of the door alerting the elderly business man who was nearly asleep. "G-good evening!" the old man smiled, the hooded figure nodding to him but never showing her face. The door chimed again, causing the old shopkeeper to turn his head to the door.
Standing there was five men, four of them in normal black business suits, complete with shades and bowler hats. The man in front was different, the attire he wore signifying he was the leader of the group. Wearing a black bowler hat with a red stripe and feather, his hair was a bright orange that covered one of his green eyes. Around his neck was a grey scarf, covering the black undershirt that was mainly covered by his white trench coat. He wore black dress pants that finish in brown dress shoes. In his gloved hands was a silver cane that he tapped along the ground.
"Good evening!" the shopkeeper smiled at them. The man smiled back as he looked to his group. "Go ahead, my friends and I are just getting a late night snack." the man said as the suited men walked up to the Dust dispensers on the left side of the room. Dust was, what many deemed, the most important resource in Remnant. A crystal that, once activated, releases a specific effect. Most Dust were elemental based, but new discoveries and laboratory studies have opened more and more types of Dust.
The suited men held up large briefcases, in actually large canisters for Dust. They hooked up the cases and began pouring large amounts of Dust into them, far too much for any normal customer. "U-uh...y-you are going to p-pay for that right?" the old man asked before falling silent as one of the suited men held a pistol to his head. The well suited ginger chuckled as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small case of cigars, sticking one into his mouth and lighting it. "Go ahead, find whoever else is in here. Take their lien too." he ordered to his men. One walked back, soon finding the red cloaked person by the magazines, reading one called "Monthly Weaponry."
"On your knees now!" the man ordered, but the figure didn't respond. "Hey! On your knees now!" he yelled as he walked up. He reached to grab them, but the figure jumped back, the red hood falling to reveal a young, womanly face with her ears covered by headphones. She took them off and tilted her head. "Yes?" she asked innocently. "On your knees now!" he growled as he reached back and pulled out a baton. The girl looked down before smirking.
The white suited man jumped slightly as he heard a loud bang. The minion fell back in front of him and groaned in pain, with the hooded girl stepping up beside him. The man looked at his grunt in disappointment before he looked up at the girl. "Well, feisty one eh?" he asked.
The girl smirked as she stepped her foot on the mans chest, puffing her chest out heroically. Along with the red cloak, her attire was that of a Victorian gothic aesthetic. Mostly being black, her stomach region was a rose red color, the bottom covered by a brown belt that held a silver rose buckle and multiple silver bullets. The bottom of her attire was a dress that held a rose red underside. Her legs covered in black transparent stockings that ended in large black boots with red bottoms. She had slightly pale skin, her face adorned with a light cherry blush and black hair that ended in red tips. Her eyes were an unusual color of pure silver. In her right arm was a large, red rectangular case.
"May I have your name brave little red?" The man sarcastically asked. "Names Ruby Rose villain, inspiring huntress and the person to end your villanous schemes!" she pointed at him with a proud smile. "Well, Ruby Rose, I really don't have time for your childhood games so can you just lie down and let us continue our work?" He asked with a fake smile. "Pretty please?" "No! You're harassing this man and I can't let you do that!" she glared. "Ah well, I tried. Get her boys."
The men put down their Dust cases and pulled out their batons, rushing at her. Ruby stood still as one of them swung at her, surprised to see her completely gone. He felt the air from his chest leave as Ruby appeared beside him and swung her case into his body, knocking him back. She yelped as she barely dodged a baton swing from the other minion, quickly kicking his face and swinging her case into his stomach. She finished with a speedy zoom in a circle and knocked the man into a large shelf that knocked it completely down.
"Beat tha-AH!" Ruby yelped as she quickly dodged gunfire from the last minion, using a speed boost and her case to block and dodge gunfire before bashing him out of the building. She turned to the man and glared, grabbing the gun and throwing it behind her. He nodded while giving a small clap. "Not bad! I can see why you're an inspiring huntress!" He laughed. "That was a good display, but..." the man looked outside, "I got places to be."
He suddenly raised his cane, the bottom opening to reveal a gun barrel, and fired a hot red flare into one of the cases of fire dust, right next to the fire dust dispenser. Ruby widened her eyes, the man quickly rushing out as Ruby sped around the store, struggling as she managed to lift the heavy men out of the store before grabbing the old shopkeeper. She busted out the door with the old man just as the fire Dust ignited, blowing the entire small store up.
"My shop!" the old shopkeeper yelled out before he began to sob. Ruby quickly got up and glared at the escaping ginger. She felt her world slow down before bursting forth, her speed allowing her to quickly meet up and slam her case into his back and send the man flying ahead. "Ah! You little shit!" he yelled as he got up and fired multiple flares at her. She dodged and swung her case again, the man blocking and pushing her away. Ruby was about to strike again until a bright light and a volley of gunshots in front of her made the girl stop.
She looked up and saw a small helicopter like vehicle, a light machine gun on the lower part. The small aircraft was called a Rhino, only able to carry four to five passengers. "My rides here." the man smirked as he grabbed onto the lowering rope. "So long red riding hood!" He laughed as it started to rise. Ruby looked up and glared, a dark figure standing in the aircraft. She couldn't see their face, but only their bright, glowing, golden eyes. The figure raised their hand, a ball of fire forming in it before throwing it down at Ruby. Ruby was confident she could dodge, that was until the fireball expanded into a massive size. Ruby widened her eyes and braced herself.
She didn't feel the heat of the attack, making her look up to see an aquamarine force field surrounding her. She widened her eyes as a person shot forth, stopping as she waved a crop around. The stone of the street seemed to come to life as tendrils shot up and wrapped around the ship. Roman grunted as the ship shook violently, the glowing eyed figure glaring as they summoned more fireballs and shot them at the tendrils. The stone tendrils melted, the woman quickly flicking her crop and moving Ruby back to the shopkeeper.
Ruby looked up and got a good look at the woman. The woman had golden hair that matched with her emerald, green eyes and fair skin. Her attire was a white undershirt that showed off her cleavage, her stomach and lower dress being a tight, formal dress. Her legs covered in black corset with boots that ended in stilts. She too wore a cloak that ended in arrow points. Ruby made the connections and gasped. "Glynda Goodwitch!?"
Glynda paid no mind to the girl as she waved her crop, forming the tendrils into large stone spears and shot them forth. The figure in the Rhino waved her hand and shot out a volley of fireballs, both attacks blowing against each other and causing dust to fly everywhere. Glynda waved her crop again, shooting the dust into the ship and blinding the powerful figure. Glynda raised her crop and used the stone of the street again, forming a massive barrage of spears and shot them all towards the Rhino. The figures glowing eye shined in the dust before an wave of fire erupted from the vehicle. Glynda widened her eyes as she formed a shield of stone around her and the others, the spears falling due to Glynda losing focus on them. When she forced the stone barriers to fall, she cursed as the Rhino was already too far way for chase.
"Damn..." she glared. She began to dial the local authorities as she turned, raising an eyebrow as she looked at the overly jumpy figure of Ruby. "Glynda Goodwitch, professional huntress and top 10 strongest in Vale.....CAN I HAVE YOUR AUTOGRAPH!?" She asked excitedly as she raised a book to her.
....................
Instead of her excited face, Ruby's face was pouting as she sat in a cold metal chair with Glynda pacing in front of her. "Instead of actually contacting the authorities, you decided to fight them yourself, allowing wanted criminal Roman Torchwick to get away, and ending with an entire Dust store being destroyed?" Glynda questioned. "Yeah, but what else could I do? Everything happened so fast, and they would've been long gone before the guard arrived!" Ruby defended herself. "That is true, but you are not a huntress nor a guard. You are Ruby Rose, a fifteen-year-old graduate from only the local battle academies. You still have a long way before you have any authority to do that, especially in public. Because of this, we will have to detain your weapon." Glynda told her. Ruby seemed she would have a heart attack once she said that.
Suddenly the door to the room opened and inside came a strange man. A tall, grey-haired man with small black glasses. A green scarf wrapped around his neck as a trench coat adorned his shoulders, the center of his chest showing a green dress shirt with golden buttons. His pants were a dark black. In his hands was a black cane that held a white handle of a sword. "Hello young one." the man smiled, causing Ruby to widen her eyes.
"Professor Ozpin!? Of Beacon Academy!?" before the girl could begin to fangirl again, Glynda smacked her crop on the table and made her silent. "Why yes I am." Ozpin smiled as he walked over, setting a plate of large chocolate chip cookies. He sat across the table from her as Ruby started to immediately devour the sweet snacks. "Tell me Ruby Rose, why did you come to Vale?" Ozpin asked, making her stop.
Ruby gulped the cookie piece down. "I was looking for potential battle academies for next year, but the bus took too long, so I decided to just walk around for a while. Don't worry, my home is only a few miles away from the kingdom." Ruby explained. "That's good, I know some of your family has attended by academy." Ozpin explained. Ruby nodded, looking down. "My dad, my uncle and....my mom came here. So has my sister, Yang Xiao Long." She spoke. Glynda widened her eyes a bit. "Well, I can see that you want to become a huntress, correct?" Ozpin asked, getting a nod from her. "Why?"
"My mom was a huntress; I don't remember much about her because she's been gone for so long. But I always remember what she told me...."we fight to keep our loved ones safe." I want to become a huntress to follow in my mom's dream. I want to keep humanity safe, not just to keep my family and friends safe, but to also make sure no one has to lose their loved ones to the grimm anymore." Ruby finished, looking up at Ozpin with her silver eyes.
Ozpin smiled before standing up. "Well Ruby, how about you come to Beacon next week? As a full student?"
"What?"
"WHAT!?"
Both Ruby and Glynda said in shock. Glynda walked up and moved Ozpin to the door as Ruby took in the information before starting a silent victory dance. "Ozpin are you sure this is a good idea? She still has two more years before attending!" She whispered, but Ozpin put a hand on her shoulder. "Trust me Glynda, I see her potential. She'll be far better than we can imagine." Glynda bit her lip, looking down before nodding. "Alright, I'll trust you on this..." Glynda said as she and Ozpin looked back at the dancing Ruby.
.....................
"You're coming to Beacon already!?" Ruby winced as she held her scroll, her mobile device, away. "Ouch Yang, yeah I'll be there in a few hours, I think. I already told dad and got my stuff ready." Ruby said, excitedly bouncing back and forth as she was eager to get on the Academy transports. "Oh, this is so exciting! I'm so proud of you Ruby!" Yang told her. "Oh, crap they're about to go off, sorry Yang but I'll talk to you later! By love you sis!" she said as she hangs up, speeding her way into the line of the transport ship. She quickly got nestled into her seat, looking around to see all the new faces. One caught her eye, a blond-haired boy who seemed extremely nervous. Ruby looked out of the window and watched as the ship took off, flying to the next destination.
Beacon Academy.
