Chapter 45: Special Moves

Mailin’s POV

The room buzzes with excitement as Shota, Midnight, Cementoss, and Ectoplasm gather around to guide the students through the creation of their special moves. Today marks the beginning of a new phase in the students’ hero training. I stand beside Shota, watching as his calm presence keeps the class focused despite the obvious anticipation.

“Your first goal is to earn your Provisional Hero Licenses,” Shota begins, his voice even but stern. “These licenses will allow you to intervene when lives are at risk. The pass rate for the exam is less than five percent, so don’t take this lightly.”

The students sit up straighter, the weight of his words sinking in. They know this is no small task, and the air thickens with determination.

“To prepare for the exam,” Shota continues, “you’ll need to develop at least two signature special moves that will help you in combat and emergencies. We’re here to help you with that.”

The students exchange eager glances, already thinking of the possibilities. But then I notice a few of them looking my way—especially Ochaco Uraraka, her eyes wide with curiosity. Slowly, she approaches me.

“Mizuhime,” she asks hesitantly, “can you tell us about your special move? What’s it like?”

I smile warmly, feeling the eyes of the entire class now turning toward me. Shota gives me a small nod, signaling me to share my expertise.

“My main special move is called Blood-Bending,” I say, watching as their faces light up with intrigue. “It’s a highly advanced form of water-bending, where I can manipulate the water within a person’s body. Given that our bodies are mostly water, this allows me to control their movements, restrict them, and in certain situations, incapacitate them.”

Midoriya’s hand flies to his notebook, scribbling down notes as fast as he can. “Wait, so... you can actually control someone’s body, like making them move against their will?”

I nod. “In a way, yes. But it requires an immense amount of concentration and precision. The key is in controlling the water content in their blood, muscles, and even organs. It’s not something to be used lightly. In battle, it’s incredibly effective for stopping opponents without harming them directly.”

Bakugou, who’s leaning against the wall, scoffs. “That sounds like cheating.”

I let out a soft laugh. “It’s not about cheating, Bakugou. It’s about control. You see, with blood-bending, I’m not just attacking—I’m restraining my opponent by manipulating their internal water. It gives me the ability to stop a fight before it escalates.”

Kirishima jumps in, clearly impressed. “That’s... awesome! Can you really do that to anyone?”

I nod thoughtfully. “Yes, though it’s much easier to manipulate someone who’s already hydrated or if I have access to a source of water. That’s why I’ve developed another special move called Water Binding, where I use high-pressure water streams to bind opponents, limiting their movement.”

There’s a ripple of excitement across the room. Even Midnight and Ectoplasm exchange looks of appreciation for the complexity of the moves.

Midoriya, as usual, is full of questions. “How do you train for something like that? Controlling someone’s body—doesn’t that take a lot of precision?”

I smile at his enthusiasm. “It does. A lot of it comes down to understanding the flow of water, both in nature and in people. I spent years mastering water-bending before I could move to something as advanced as blood-bending. The hardest part is the ethical side—you can’t just use it recklessly.”

The class murmurs in understanding, with a few students nodding thoughtfully.

Shota’s POV

Watching Mailin—Mizuhime—explain her moves, I can’t help but admire her skill and the way she connects with the students. Blood-Bending isn’t just a powerful move—it requires deep understanding, both mentally and physically. She uses her mastery over water in ways that challenge even the most seasoned heroes.

As the students listen in awe, I observe her calm, collected demeanor. She knows exactly what she’s talking about, and her knowledge keeps them captivated. They respect her, not just because of her abilities, but because of her measured and thoughtful approach to using them.

Her special moves, Blood-Bending and Water Binding, aren’t about brute force. They’re about control—something the students still need to fully understand. In battle, control is more important than raw power, and Mizuhime is the perfect example of that.

“They’re paying attention to every word you say,” I say, stepping beside her as she finishes.

She smirks softly. “I think they’re more interested in the idea of controlling someone’s body. But they’ll learn.”

I nod. “They will. They’ve come a long way, but they’ve still got a lot to learn.”

Mailin’s POV

As the students begin their training, I watch them start to practice their own special moves. I’m impressed by their dedication and creativity. Midoriya is already deep in thought, clearly still working out what his special move will be, while Bakugou is testing out his explosive abilities on a nearby rock.

I catch Ochaco’s eye from across the room, and she gives me a small, appreciative nod. It feels good to be able to pass on what I’ve learned, to help shape these students into the heroes they’ll become.

Turning back to Shota, I smile. “They’re going to surprise us, you know. Some of these kids have a lot more potential than even they realize.”

He glances at me, his eyes soft but serious. “That’s why we’re here. To help them see it.”

Together, we continue to watch over them, ensuring that each one of these students—our students—learns to master their Quirks and create the special moves that will define their paths as heroes.
