CHAPTER 14

Happiness rained down on Natalie's face when she heard my comment.

"Oh great! Yes, hurry and call your ex-- Chad, to help us before he leaves."

My mouth frowned up in displeasure upon hearing the familiar blonde's name. I put the now ringing phone up to my ear as I turned my attention to the dark brunette next to me. "Ew. I'm not calling Chad. Get real."

"Well then who other than Chad could y-"

I put my hot pink painted index finger up, signaling for her to stop talking.

The phone picked up and I heard the masculine voice that belonged to Ryan. "Hello?" He groggily asked.

My breathing hitched for a second. Ugh, why must Ryan sound so hot even when he is half asleep?

"Hey, it's Daisy. Were you sleeping?"

There was a pause on the other end before he responded back to me. "Yeah, it's what? 10 o'clock at night?

I refrained from letting a chuckle escape my lips. "Well sorry, I didn't know you have a bedtime."

"I don't," he sighed into the speaker. "Some of us just have to get up early in the mornings to get stuff done."

I rolled my perfectly shimmery shadowed eyes, sensing the sarcasm in his words. "Well time to wake up. I need a favor."

"Hmph," he responded. I could tell he had that arrogant smirk plastered across his face. "That's not a very polite way of asking, now is it?"

My teeth grinded against each other as my lips pursed together. He couldn't possibly want me to...

"What's the word I'm looking for?" He questioned. He was toying with me. I knew it. "Come on. Say it."

"Now?!" I replied.

"Nope. Try again."

"Ugh! Will you just come pick Natalie and I up at the Lake Fall Country Club? My car ran out of gas and we're stranded!"

"...Sure, I'll come get you," Ryan replied.

Relief soon came over my body. A soft smile soon graced my pretty features. "Whew, great! I-"

"IF you say the password," the raven haired interrupted.

Okay. I knew this was a bad idea from the start. Ryan takes way too much pleasure in seeing me squirm. I knew what he wanted me to say. He knew I knew. But Daisy Nickels has never, nor will I ever. Say. That. Word!

"Forget. It." I seethed.

"Well then I hope you didn't forget to bring any change with you because it sounds like you're about to catch the trolley, sweetheart."

Oh how disgusting! I'd rather be seen wearing one of Lindsay's fake Gucci bags! I didn't even know people still rode on those outdated, tacky vehicles, bleh!

Knowing I had absolutely no option left. I said the one thing I never thought I'd have to say. "p-p-please."

"..Gotta speak up better than that."

Letting my head down some in defeat, I sighed. Pressing my eyes shut, I let go of all my dignity to Ryan. "Please!"

There was a complete silence on the other end. My brows tensed up as I took a look at the phone screen, making sure he didn't just hang up on me!

"Now was that so hard?" He lightly chuckled. "I'll be there in about twenty minutes."

I rolled my eyes before hanging up the phone. Still frustrated from my humbling humiliation, I crossed my arms under my chest.

"So?" Natalie asked me. "Is he coming or not?!"

I moved my eyes to the right, slightly taking in her form. "Yeah. He'll be here in twenty minutes."

"Ugh," she complained, slamming her hands on her thighs. "That long?"

I adjusted my seat to lean back some. If we were going to be waiting around, I might as well get cozy. "You do realize that we are very far from where you guys live, right? Plus, it's Los Angeles, Natty, there's always traffic."

The heaviness of my eyelids overpowered as I was adjusting my head in a more comfortable position. I should take a quick rest. All of that partying has totally worn me out.

"Did you just give me a nickname?"

I opened one eye to look at the girl who wouldn't let me rest for five minutes. "No?"

A sly smile formed across her lips. "Yes you did. You just called me, Natty."

My eyes maneuvered from right to left as I processed what just happened. "D-don't be ridiculous. I must have just picked it up from Kaitlyn or Alex or something."

"Mhm, no, I don't think so. They've never called me that," she smirked. "Come on Daisy, just admit it."

I narrowed my eyes on her. "Admit what? That you're being more annoying than usual?"

She shook her head, the smirk still remaining. "Admit that we're becoming friends."

My mouth parted slightly. True. Somewhere--deep inside--I did start to consider Natalie as a friend of mine. Especially with what she just did for me tonight, but I was still Daisy Nickels. And Daisy Nickels isn't going to go soft.

"Hm? Must just be something in your vivid imagination," I said, turning on my left side.

I heard a small chuckle omit from her side of the vehicle before I soon, slowly drifted off.

It felt like not even ten minutes later when I felt a hand shake my right shoulder.

"Daisy. Daisy wake up."

Slowly opening my eyes with a yawn, I turned my attention to Natalie.

"Ryan's here," she pointed out the window.

I looked to the black Audi parked on the left of me. Ryan was standing slightly behind it as he was pulling out a red tank from his trunk.

Getting out of the car, I walked up to him. He was wearing slightly ripped black jeans, and a black jacket that hugged onto his muscular torso. His hair was slightly disheveled, signaling that he hadn't even ran a hand through it to fix. A smirk tugged at the corner of my pink lips when I realized he obviously rushed over here.

"Oh, thank you Ryan!" Natalie smiled as she walked over to us.

"No problem," he responded. His eyes were downcast as he was undoing the top off of the gas tank.

"Look, it'll take a while to fill up," he said as he opened up our car's tank. "And it's getting pretty chilly out here, so why don't you two go wait inside the-" He left his sentence unfinished as his black orbs looked up to meet mine. They soon left to quickly gaze up and down my form.

I shifted my weight to my left, a hand settling on my hip. Jeez, I knew I looked hot in this white mini dress but according to the dumbfounding look on Ryan's face, I must be blazing!

"By all means, just take a picture Ryan," I smirked. My eyes narrowed at his, signaling that I once again had the upper hand in the situation.

He cleared his throat that already sounded clear in the first place. "Y-yeah, you guys can just wait inside the building until I'm done."

With the smirk still plastered, I slowly walked past Ryan, not even moving when I brushed against his built arm. This was slight payback from when he made me say 'please' a while ago.

The venue's lights were still on as I knew the cleaning people were doing their nightly routine. A maid who I recognized let us in, giving us access into the main lobby.

"It's a good thing Ryan had an extra tank of gas in his trunk, huh?" Natalie asked. She was rubbing her exposed arms, trying to create some sort of heat.

"Yeah, how convenient," a bitter voice spoke from behind me.
