Chapter 24

Gideon

"Are you sure about this?" Pacifica asked, as we walked into the forest.
"Yeah. Remember the plan." I said. "Hello? Gnomes?"
Suddenly, we stopped in front of a small bathtub a gnome was in, filled with squirrels.
"This...this is normal for gnomes." He said.
"Ew." Pacifica muttered under her breath.
"So, came crawling back, Pacifica?" Jeff asked.
"Hardly." Her face wrinkled in disgust.
"We need your help." I said.
"Why should we help you? Your friend nearly killed us!"
"Because we can get you a new queen." Pacifica said. "Her name is Mabel, and she has pretty brown hair."
"Wow! You got a deal! What do you need?"

Mabel

"Mabel, there's two kids outside the gate who want to see you." Soos said.
I glanced out the window to see Gideon and Pacifica standing outside. "What do those hooligans want?"
I stood and went out the door, to the gate Pacifica and Gideon were standing behind. I crossed my arms.
"Well, what do you two want?" I asked.
"Give us the deed right now or else!" Gideon yelled.
"And my sweet Gideon, am I supposed to ask 'Or else what'?" I narrowed my eyebrows.
"Yes." Gideon said. "Gnomes, attack!"
Suddenly, I heard something whizz past me. I turned around to see a gnome and his pointed hat stuck in my bodyguard that was outside. The bodyguard fell.
"It's just one gnome." I rolled my eyes. Did they really think they could defeat me that easily?
The ground shook, and the fence rattled as a flood of gnomes came swarming out of the forest, pushing down the barrier and surrounding me.
"Give us the deed, now!" Pacifica screamed.
"And let the marriage ceremony commence!" A gnome yelled.
"Fine, I guess this belongs to you." I reached inside my vest to take out the deed, but I whipped out a whistle and blew in it. An ear-piercing screech could be heard, and the gnomes fell and covered their ears.
"I usually use this to keep Waddles behaved, but what do you know? It works on gnomes too!" I held out the whistle, admiring it. "Get them!"
I pointed to Pacifica and Gideon, and the gnomes ran to them and pushed them to me. Out of Gideon's blue puffy vest, I saw the corner of a red book.
My amulet glowed as I used it to lift the book out of Gideon's vest.
"The other journal!" I gasped, picking it out of the blue aura of my amulet and flipping through the pages. "Well, well, I had no idea you had this. Thank you and goodbye. Gnomes, get out and if you try marrying me, I'll kill you." I blew the whistle.
The gnomes ran away, brushing past Pacifica and Gideon, who fell onto their backs while the gnomes scampered away.
"Next time, do your own dirty work!" A gnome said as he scurried past.
"Finally, I have Journal number...three?!" I closed the Journal shut.
Pacifica and Gideon stood up to leave, but I used the amulet to make them float up into the air.
"You aren't going anywhere."
"What do you mean?" Pacifica asked. "It's over. You won. You have the journal, the Mystery Shack, and another amulet. What else do you need?"
"WHERE IS THE FIRST JOURNAL?!" I demanded.
"What do you mean?" Gideon asked.
"I KNOW YOU HAVE IT!" I screamed, pointing at them. "You have me this one, only to throw me off! Where's the other one?!"
"We don't know where it is!" Gideon yelled. "Just let us go!"
"Don't worry, Gideon, I won't hurt you." I reassured him. "Pacifica, on the other hand..."
I took a knife out of my vest, and held it to Pacifica's neck.
"Where is it?"
Beads of sweat dripped down from Pacifica's forehead. "I-I don't know, I swear!"
"Really?" I pressed the knife a little bit, scratching her. She gulped, holding back a scream. "Are you sure? What about you, Gideon?"
"I swear, I have no idea!" Gideon cried. "Just let her go!"
I slowly took the knife away from her neck. "Are you sure?"
"Yes! Please, just let us go!" She reached to cover where my knife had scratched her.
"LIAR!"
I used the knife to cut into the sleeve of her jacket and into her arm. I pulled the knife away, as blood started to pool and bleed into her jacket.
She screamed, covering her large cut with her trembling hand. The blood dropped onto the ground as it flooded above her fingers.
"TELL ME WHERE IT IS!"
Pacifica looked down at the ground and started to sob.
No, she was laughing.
She looked up at me and smiled as tears fell from her eyes.
"Go ahead and kill me." She chuckled softly. "I don't know where it is. You're just wasting your time, Mabel."
"Asking for death, already?" I asked. "But we just started. How about we take out an eye?"
I raised my knife, but Pacifica didn't squirm. She was looking right at the knife, challenging me.
"Go ahead." She smiled. "Because we have no idea where that journal is."
"Please, Mabel." Gideon begged. "Just stop! Put down the knife."
"I would love to listen to you, Gideon, just tell me where Journal #1 is and I won't take out her eye."
"We don't know where it is!" Gideon cried.
"Alright then." I was about to dig the knife into her eye, when a flying rock knocked the knife out my hand. I furiously turned to the direction where the rock had come from.
Nobody was there.
I turned back to Pacifica and Gideon to see Dipper standing in front of them.
"Let them go." He said, crossing his arms.
"Dipper, I-"
"Now."
I tried to shove Dipper away, but he grabbed my arm and pushed me onto the ground. I lost my concentration, and Pacifica and Gideon fell to the ground.
"I thought I told you not to-" I started, but he took out my headband with my amulet on it from behind his back. "How?"
"Give them the deed and their journal, and I'll give you your amulet back."
"No!" I said, sitting up. "I can live without it!"
"You wear this amulet so much you are dependent on it. I have seen how weak you are without it."
"Fine!" I snapped, taking the deed out from my vest pocket, and shoving it at Dipper. "Here! The journal is over there."
Dipper handed my headband back to me and took the deed. "Go home. I'll return later."
"Fine. Kill the bodyguards if you get a chance, they've seen too much." I looked behind me to see the two bodyguards looking quite traumatized and rocking back and forth, sucking their thumbs.
"Yes, sister." Dipper said.
I stood up, fixing the headband on my head. "You actually didn't let me kill her. You must really like her to give up our dream."
"I don't want what you told me is in there. That's only you." Dipper pointed down the driveway. "Leave. This isn't our house anymore."
"Fine." I walked away.
