Chapter 31

Tim looks at himself in the mirror of the shower room. With shaking hands he buttons up the red plaid shirt that Adam picked out. What if they didn't like his voice or his music? This was his only hope to find a job doing what he loved to do.

He let's go of a nervous breath as he runs his hand through his slightly damp hair.

"TIM!! TIM!!" Adam shouts as he runs through the station toward the showers.

Tim turns quickly and heads for the door but meets Adam as he is running in.

"What! What's wrong?!" Tim asks as Adam throws his arms around his lover's neck, giving him a tight hug.

"Nothing is wrong. Everything is great." Adam giggles as he places a kiss on the brunette's cheek.

"So you just enjoy giving me a heart attack? I'm a nervous wreck as it is." Tim says.

"I've got great news! The station called. I have to be there at 10:30 for an interview with the station manager." Adam says with a huge grin.

"Baby, that's awesome!" Tim says as he grabs the blonde and swings him around.

"Wow, you look very, and I mean, VERY handsome." Adam smiles as he fixes Tim's collar.

"I just hope they don't see how bad I'm shaking." Tim replies as he crams his hands into his pockets.

"Awww, honey, from what I heard last night? You're gonna blow them away." Adam says softly as he rubs his thumb across his lover's cheek. "I was I could be there to see it."

"Well, I need to go. I definitely don't want to be late for my audition. And you don't want to be late for yours. Listen, meet me at the diner afterward for lunch, alright?" Tim says as they walk out of the train station and toward their vehicles.

"Will do and try not to worry, okay?" Adam says, giving Tim a quick kiss.

"I'll try. Good luck with your interview. You got this." Tim smiles at his lover before getting into his truck.

"You do too." Adam says with a wave as the brunette starts his truck.

Tim pulls up in front of the Sourdough Saloon about fifteen minutes early. He needed a little extra time to calm his nerves. He takes a deep breath as he lays his head over on the steering wheel.

He jumps as someone taps on the driver side window.

"Hey, didn't mean to startle you." The man wearing glasses smiles as Tim rolls down the window.

"It doesn't take much to startle me right now." Tim chuckles.

"Are you Tim?" The man asks.

"Uh, yeah. Reba said for me to be here at ten." Tim says as he rolls up the window and gets out of the truck.

"I'm Chris. Chris Chatham. I'm in the band. The other guys are already inside." Chris smiles. "Come on inside."

Chris leads him around the saloon to the back door.

"I like your voice. Super deep." Chris says as they walk inside.

"Thanks." Tim replies as he follows Chris through the closed bar. He could hear a guitar playing inside the bar area.

"Hey, guys?" Chris calls out to the two guys on the stage. "This is Tim."

"Glad to meet you, Tim. I'm Brian." The blonde says as he walks over to shake Tim's hand.

"Pleased to meet you." Tim smiles and nods.

"That's some voice you got there." The guy wearing the baseball cap chuckles as he walks over. "I'm Henry."

** a/n: I decided to make a slight change since my last chapter. In chapter 30, Reba watched a video of Tim's that had these guys in the band. I've decided that these guys will be the bar's band. Pictured above are Brian Pothier, Tim, Henry O'Neill and Chris Chatham.

"Reba tells us that you write your own songs too. We definitely need a songwriter in the group." Brian chuckles.

"I'm hoping to do one of my originals today during the audition." Tim replies.

"Well, Reba had you to meet us here at ten so we could work out a couple of songs before she gets here at ten thirty. Whatcha got planned?" Chris asks.

"Uh, do you know 'My Man' by Josh Turner?" Tim asks.

"Yep." Brian nods with a smile. "Let's do it."

Tim starts to sing once everyone was ready, "Baby, lock the door and turn the lights down low...."

The three musicians look at each other. This guy was awesome!

"Man! Where the hell have you been hiding." Henry laughs, shaking his head once Tim had finished.

"You think Reba will like it?" Tim asks nervously.

"Are you kidding? She's going to love it." Chris replies. "Let's hear your original so we can get an idea on the music."

Tim walks over and sits down at the keyboard.

"This one is called 'I've Seen'," Tim says before he starts to sing.

Within no time, the guys had picked up on the tune and were playing along. They practiced both songs a couple of times before they heard the front door open and Reba walks in locking the door behind her.

Tim had begun to relax until he saw her walk in. She was the one to make the final decision whether or not he would get the job.

"How's it going, guys?" Reba says with a friendly smile as she puts her purse underneath the bar for the time being.

"Awesome." Henry says. "You were right when you said that he was great."

"Well, let's hear what you guys put together for me." She says as she sits down at a table. She notices Tim's sudden nervousness. "Sugar, just relax. I've already heard you sing and I loved what I heard."

Tim nods and takes a deep breath before he starts to sing. Reba smiles as he sings his two songs. As he finishes 'I've Seen', Reba stands and starts to clap.

"That was amazing!!" She says with a huge smile.

"Do I, uh, do I get the job?" Tim asks.

"Hun, you had the job after I watched your video last night." Reba chuckles.

~~

Tim couldn't stop smiling as he sat in the diner waiting for Adam to arrive. He prayed that Adam had as good of luck as he had.

Tim sees Adam's car pull into the parking lot and park beside his truck. He watches the blonde as he gets out of the car and walks toward the diner. He had such a solemn look on his face. Did he not get the job? Tim temporarily turned off his mindreading skills. He didn't want to spoil anything for Adam if it was good news.

"Hey, Sweetie." Tim says as he stands and kisses his boyfriend. "Well? Did you get the job?"

"You first." Adam says as they sit down across from each other at the table.

"I got the job." Tim nods with a smile.

A smile slowly creeps across Adam's handsome face as he reaches across and grabs Tim's hands, "Me too!!!!"

"Oh, thank God. You scared me. You looked so sad when you got out of the car." Tim says.

"I know. I knew you were watching me." Adam giggles. "I was trying to think of anything I could so that you wouldn't know about the job."

"I wasn't trying ...." Tim stops talking as the waitress arrives to take their order.

"So? Tell me what happened." Adam says, reaching once again for the brunette's hands.

"Well...." Tim starts.

"Guys! Guys!" Jenika shouts as she runs into the restaurant. She rushes over and throws her arms around Tim's neck, pulling him into a hard kiss.

Tim's eyes widened with shock. Adam's widened in disbelief.

She then turns and hugs Adam and kisses him.

"I got the job!!" Her voice, so full of excitement. "I start tomorrow!! Oh, my God!! I have to go home and tell Avi!!"

And just like that, she was gone leaving two stunned men behind.

"Well. Good for her." Adam says as he takes his napkin and reaches over to wipe her lipstick from his lover's lips.

Jealousy was screaming loudly from the blonde's thoughts.

"Angel, there's no reason to be jealous." Tim says as he takes a sip of his tea.

"I'm not jealous." Adam says as he calmly folds his napkin and lays it aside.

"Yes, you are." Tim says as he folds his arms on the table and stares at his boyfriend.

"No, I'm not." Adam declares as he refuses to make eye contact.

"Babe, look at me." Tim says.

Adam huffs as he finally looks up into his boyfriend's brown eyes.

"Your blues have turned green." Tim says with a slight smirk.

"No, they haven't." Adam argues.

"Yes. They have." Tim replies with a nod.
