CHAPTER 19

Before we even start, I want to thank you all so much for 1K reads! I really can't believe it, I wasn't even expecting this book to have more than 100 reads or smth!

THIRD PERSON POV

Jungkook had always been an introvert. He had difficulties in making friends and often found it awkward to be around new people. Those are probably some of the reasons he didn't have many close friends.

That's also why, when his parents had told him they were expecting guests later on that night, he had sighed and had plopped himself on the couch. And he who thought he would get some moments of relaxation at his home after such a long time! Turns out he would have to entertain some guests instead. Great!

Jungkook was a really sweet and kind kid, though that didn't stop him from disliking visits to his house. He always found them rather awkward and boring. Mainly because most of the people who visited were his parents' friends or some relatives he had no idea about. However, since he became an idol, the whole thing became even more unbearable; while before he had been questioned about his studies and grades, now everyone seemed to only have questions about his life as an idol. It was thrilling, at first, to describe everything in details but it got stale with time.

It had been 2 hours since Jungkook entered his hometown, Busan. The first thing he had done was drop off Haesoo. He would have dropped her at her house but she insisted that he could just drop her at the crossroad itself as it might be a bother for him to drive in the narrow streets and then find his way back.

He had then gone straight home where his parents were pleasantly surprised by his visit. However, he had been disappointed to hear that his elder brother was abroad but his parents had assured him that he would be back in a few weeks and he could visit again then.

"Jungkook honey, come here please, will you?" His mother called from the kitchen. The boy stood up from the couch and made his way to her. "Can you set the table please?" She asked her son.

"Sure," Jungkook replied. The idea of having dinner with some strangers didn't make him enthusiastic at all.

"Come on! Don't be so sulky!" His mom exclaimed, smiling brightly at him while internally cooing at her son's cute pout as he placed various dishes on the dining table. "They've been close to our family since a really long time but they had gone to live in the US. 3 years ago, they came back here. Sadly, you never got the chance to meet them after they came here but your hyung knows them well and I'm sure you'll like them too."

Jungkook remained quiet, focusing on his task. His mom sighed inaudibly. A thought struck her and she smiled again. "They just called saying their daughter was also coming along. She's just a few years older than you, so maybe you two can get along? You won't be lonely during our boring old people talks then," she said.

Jungkook giggled at her last words and walked towards her. He kissed her on the head and chuckled, "you're not old, mom."

"I was not talking about me, of course I'm not old! I was talking about your dad," she answered.

"Mom, dad's younger than you," Jungkook laughed.

"Oops. But well, I look much younger than him, don't I? I could be mistaken for your sister!" She exclaimed while flipping her hair over her shoulder, messing around with her son who laughed even louder.

"Yeah, right!" Jungkook tried speaking between his giggles but had to pause before going on. "Totally like a twenty year old!" He said while making an okay sign.

They both kept joking with each other for a moment until Mrs Jeon noticed that it was almost time for the guests to arrive. She told Jungkook to quickly go take a shower and change. As the boy stood in the shower, he started getting a little anxious.

Some girl a little older than him would be coming along and he didn't like that. He wasn't fond of meeting new people and it was worse when those people were close to his age range. What scared him even more was the fact that the girl might be a fan of the group. He really loved his fans but some could be intrusive and he really hoped that someone like that wouldn't know his address and come to his home.

"Son, come greet Mr and Mrs Park," Jungkook heard his dad call out while he climbed down the stairs. Soon enough, he was stood beside his parents in front of the door and his eyes widened upon seeing someone familiar.

"Noona?" Jungkook uttered at the same time as the girl before him said, "Jungkook?"

"Oh you know each other already?" Mr Park asked.

"Yeah. Appa, remember I said I worked as stylist for a kpop group? It's BTS and I'm friends with all the boys, especially Jungkook," Haesoo replied with a smile.

Jungkook grinned and nodded in confirmation. Well, maybe that dinner's not gonna be so boring after all.

His mom smiled as well. "That's great then!" She said before inviting them in. They all gathered around the table for dinner and ate while cheerfully chatting.

"So, Haesoo, how was it to live in America without your parents for 3 years?" Jungkook's dad inquired.

"It was great though I would've preferred to come to Korea sooner with them," she admitted truthfully before taking another bite of her food.

"Why didn't you, then?" Jungkook's mom asked.

Since Haesoo's mouth was full, Jungkook decided to speak up for her. "She had to complete her studies. Right, noona?" He stated brightly.

The girl swallowed her food and replied, "that's right."

"Oh you know each other better than I expected. Didn't know you were that close," Haesoo's mom said.

"Yeah, we are, Jungkook even came over to my apartment a few times to watch anime together. We have a lot in common actually," she grinned.

"Mhm," Jungkook hummed while grinning back just as wide.

"Well, that's good to know," his dad said with a smile as well.

Their discussion went on, the main topic being the friendship between those two as well as Haesoo's stay in America. Both of them told their parents how they had met and become friends. Their parents laughed over how they occasionally argued over the order of occurrence of events or fought over who was better at remembering details.

Jungkook liked how he was not the topic of the conversation, instead he was part of it. He really was enjoying himself for once. At the same time, he got to know more about Haesoo and her family. He admired how independent she was. He really looked up to her and of course, it was not only because of her amazing English speaking skills. He made a mental note to ask her to teach him when they get back to Seoul.

Time flew by and none of the two families seemed to have noticed until Haesoo's dad pointed it out, saying they should better head back home. Jungkook's mom asked them to visit again some other time and also to bring Haesoo with them again since she's a very nice girl.

As they were leaving after having said their goodbyes, Jungkook called out, "Noona, I'm going back to Seoul tomorrow afternoon. You can come with me if you want."

"No, it's ok. I'm staying in Busan for a little longer," she replied. "But thanks for the offer anyway."

Jungkook nodded with a smile and waved as they walked off. He went inside the house with his parents after closing the door. "Wow, it's the first time I saw you this enthusiastic about having guests over," his mom chuckled.

"Well, it's the first time I actually know someone," he said.

"By the way, did you know that we've known them before you were even born?" His dad asked.

Jungkook's eyes widened. "Really?" He asked. "How come I didn't know them before if you've been so close for such a long time?"

"Actually, you did meet them before. They often came over when you were still small, that's why you don't remember them. They then left for the US in 2003," his father explained.

Jungkook hummed while nodding. That made sense, he didn't have many memories of his life when he was 6 or smaller than that. It then struck him that Haesoo and him might have been friends when they were kids. He smiled at the thought. Maybe that was why he felt so comfortable around her.

The next day, Jungkook spent as much time as possible with his parents and was a little sad when it was time for him to go but he promised to visit them again soon. After a really long and exhausting drive, he reached Seoul.

Before he even reached the door to their house, he could hear noises coming from there. He sighed. It's always so loud on days they're all home together. But that's what made it their home. Even though they often argued or fought, it was lively and strengthened their bond while also providing another stupid incident to add to their list of useless but hilarious quarrels.

The moment he unlocked the door and stepped in, he was welcomed by a hard cushion hitting him square on the face. He groaned and rubbed his nose and forehead.

"Peace and quiet! That's all I've been asking for! Now get the hell out if you'll continue fighting!" He heard Yoongi shouting.

"Sorry hyung, but please tell TaeTae that we've eaten enough Japchae and I want to order Jjajangmyeon for dinner!" Jimin said.

"But I want Japchae!" Taehyung answered.

"Not everything's about you, Kim!" Jimin retorted and Taehyung gasped dramatically.

"That's it! I'm outta here!" Yoongi exclaimed before making his way to his room to presumably lie down while doing nothing.

"Really Jimin? That's how you're gonna be now? Is this getting so serious that we'll be using surnames now? Am I no longer your best friend?" Taehyung asked.

Seokjin, who was sitting on the couch with a bowl of popcorn, rolled his eyes but still kept munching on his snack while enjoying the drama. "For how long has this been going on?" Jungkook inquired, plopping beside the eldest and stealing some of his popcorn.

"A solid hour now," he replied nonchalantly, watching as Jimin stuttered an apologetic reply to Taehyung.

"And you've done nothing to stop them?" Asked the youngest.

"Well, Yoongi yelled at them a few times but it was entertaining anyway, so I let them be," he shrugged. Jungkook let out yet another sigh.

A few minutes later, the pair of best friends had settled over their quarrel and the scene looked like something out of a drama, very over-exaggerated and all. Namjoon and Hoseok entered the living room and told the boys that they were going out to eat.

When they reached the restaurant, they ordered their food and began chatting about various topics. The conversation eventually drifted to Jungkook's recent visit to his parents' home.

"You guys would never have guessed it!" The raven-haired exclaimed in excitement. "Haesoo-noona and I knew each other when we were kids!"

While the other boys urged Jungkook to tell more about it, Taehyung's expression turned grim. He hadn't expected him to know about that so soon. What was he supposed to do now? He knew that as from this moment, Haesoo and Jungkook would only grow closer and spend even more time together.

He remembered how it had gotten to a point that Jungkook had started to completely ignore him and would even forget about plans they made together just to go out with her. He didn't want that to happen again. He couldn't go through that again. He still recalled how it hurt him every time and it felt like if he had to go through all that once more, he would die.

Jimin noticed the change in expression on Taehyung's face and reached out to grab his hand under the table and gave it a tight squeeze. The younger was thankful for the silent encouragement because he really felt like he could breakdown at any moment while Jungkook told everyone all about his dinner with Haesoo's family the night before.

"You seem to like her a lot," Namjoon commented. He didn't mean it in a romantic way, of course, but it still made Taehyung's head shoot up as he stared directly at Jungkook who was sporting a wide grin on his face.

"Yeah, I do. She's really amazing and I admire her a lot," he replied truthfully.

Taehyung's heart sank. He felt another tight squeeze on his hand and looked to his side. There was his best friend giving him the most reassuring smile he had ever seen and his own lips instantly curved into a small smile as well. He was so grateful for having Jimin by his side.

Nevertheless he couldn't help the heavy feeling in his chest each time Jungkook talked about Haesoo. It was a horrible feeling and he hated it. But what he hated more was the fact that he knew he would be feeling this even more frequently from now on.

Because this really was just the beginning.
