Bonding in Worrying Times, Part Three
"Good morning. Are you Chano-eul, by any chance?"
"First of all, it's the afternoon, for crying out loud," Chano-eul laughed, finding this cute. "Second of all, yep, that's me alright.
At that, Duri flushed a bit. This was embarrassing, for sure, "Ah, I see. Nice to meet you, then."
Nebok smiled softly. He felt happy seeing his dongsaeng being flustered. It was just cute. Not that he would say that to his face.
"Likewise," Chano-eul shrugged as he sat down. "Anyway, you wanted to see me about a weird incident a year ago?"
"Yeah, that's right," Duri took his own seat, getting his notebook out to take notes. "Can you tell us what happened?"
"Well, I had snuck into the ride, despite the security man telling me not to do it," he began. "But then out of nowhere, it started spinning out of control! Thankfully, the Athlons were around. If not, I don't think I'll be around any longer."
Nebok repressed a shudder. He couldn't imagine being in such a position.
Duri's eyes narrowed, "Did you notice anything odd, by any chance?"
"Not really," Chano-eul shook his head. "All I know is that I ended up using half of the prize money to help fix it up. Even then, it couldn't work, for some strange reason. They ended up having to replace the entire thing."
"Strange..."
"I know right?" The blonde agreed with Nebok. "It's weird. Like one minute it was okay, the next I was screaming and scared for my life."
"Very very suspicious," Duri mumbled.
"Well, that's it, I guess," he sighed, massaging his temple. "I can't remember anything else out of the ordinary at the time, to be honest. All I remember was afterwards. We found a phone battery and some scraps here and there. And the ground was uneven. Like it had been cemented over in a hurry."
"Could it have been a fight?" Nebok asked.
"Not sure. But the place had been under renovation for a while due to some unexplained occurrences. Some of the attractions were closed down too... Wait, there were also thefts!"
Duri and Nebok shared a glance of disbelief. Thefts? Could it be?
"What was taken?" Duri asked him.
"I think I heard from the radio that it was footage of certain dates," he frowned a bit, unaware of what he had said.
The two shared a glance once more. That was it!
"Sorry I couldn't help much," he apologized.
"No, no, it's fine," Nebok smiled. "You've actually given us enough hints."
"Oh really?" He blinked. "I didn't take the news to be detectives."
"Well, every article needs its source," Duri shrugged.
"Ah that makes sense."
"Anyway, thank you so much for your information and time," Nebok bowed as he got up.
"No problem. I should probably head off to get ready for the next Robot Racing League," Chano-eul got up as well. "Can't wait for that article!"
"Thanks for that," Duri sheepishly flushed.
"It's nothing," the older male grinned. "See ya around then!"
The two could only wave as they watched the junior high schooler rush off, clearly late.
One down, one to go.
