Chapter Twelve
Stiles ~
"Hey watch it!"I yelled, as I almost had a face full of Isaac who had just been thrown across the room by Derek. Derek had been relentless with his two betas. Ever since we arrived in San Diego, Actually even on the way here, they have been training non-stop. He is determined to make sure they are no longer the ''Weak Link". My heart goes out to them. I know all too well how it feels to be at the bottom of the pack. To feel like a burden and like your best is everyone's worst. I guess it's because of that my full support goes to them and I've been trying my best to try and keep the motivation burning.
I can't train with Derek and the betas because my training is completely different from them. I have been training just as hard as they have been just with much more secrecy and as much as I have been training I have been using my free time to research, about the next obstacle I have been trying to somehow uncover a tiny clue and I have been trying to research about Warlocks. I still haven't told Derek anything about that. I have tried and failed to not allow the memory of that creature and its words fill my head. Curiosity had come to me as easy as breathing and it's something I can't help but do everything in my power to satisfy. I have been trying as hard as I can to try and uncover if I may, in fact, have some sort of magic in me. Every type of test I tried to use to test my hypothesis failed, miserably, yet somehow I can't seem to give up the idea that magic may in fact run through my veins. The thought of it doesn't seem strange to me for some unknown reason. It actually sounds right. It feels right. It may be my imagination or perhaps it's just me hoping that I may be something more, that I may, in fact, have something special that others do not. Yes, it may sound petty and selfish to a point, but isn't it human nature that we want to be special. That in itself sometimes leads me to believe I am 100% human just yearning for something to make me feel like I am worth more than I believe I am. I guess no matter how hard I train, It will always be easier to build my muscles rather than my self-confidence.
I am disturbed from my monologue when I see Erica,in my peripheral vision, walking towards the seat next to me, I instinctively close my browser afraid she might see the research I was doing, I look at her, smile the most genuine smile I can manage, and try to close my laptop without looking suspicious. She seems too exhausted to be bothered by my actions. I slide the laptop down on the floor, and she sits at my side. She curls up to my side and lays her head on my shoulder. Ever since we rescued them, Isaac and Erica have been very clingy towards me, I am not usually a fan of too much of physical contact but it somehow feels comforting at this time. It may just be the four of us, but we have become closer and started supporting each other in small unspoken ways. Derek trains the betas harder than he ever has, I know its to prepare but with the focus and dedication he does it, with the care he shows them, the way he'll squeeze their shoulder when they can't grasp a technique he showed them and nods slightly at them, as if to say It's okay, you're going to get this. Erica and Isaac have been very supporting Derek as well, I guess spending so much of time together has truly helped them understand Derek better so sometimes when he takes a break instead of leaving him alone they sit next to him and force him to talk , they try and joke and attempt to make the mood a little more lighthearted and occasionally it earns a smile and on one rare occasion a little puff of air that sounded quite similar to a laugh. The look of triumph that followed on both their faces was priceless.
The three of them have been trying to be as comforting as possible to me as well, It's the small gestures. Erica and Isaac try as hard as possible to make their affection known, they will snuggle up to my side whenever they can, try and have some sort of physical contact as they walk past me even if that means bumping into me. Derek is much more subtle when it comes to his gestures, he will casually place some food or/ and something to drink when I've been on my laptop for hours, when I come back from training and he can sense my fatigue, after I am out of the shower there's a whole lot of carbs included in supper and my favourite movie is somehow in the DVR . It's the little things they've been doing that has been making us more and more like a family. I guess it's the love and support that has formed, that makes us sane. It keeps us going.
Tuesday afternoon is when things started to get a little crazy, The three werewolves were training in the rundown training grounds they made for themselves and I went back to my training grounds in the sanctuary of a woods a good few miles away from the hotel.I was sharpening my combat skill when it happened. I saw a bright light, it appeared to be watching me from a safe distance half covered by the branches of the adjacent trees. It was just a pure white light. It was captivating and all of my instincts were screaming at me to go closer to it. I was captivated by the beauty of this odd being if I could even call it that. When the proximity between myself and the light was enough to make a sense of caution run down my spine as I started to wonder if it might be a trap by the person who kidnapped our friends, I stayed glued to the space I was occupying, simply staring , fascinated by the very existence of this magical presence. Then, it spoke... "Warlock", and I was drawn out of my daydream, and emotions of every kind one could imagine ran through my body. I was drawn out of stationary state and immediately tried to get closer to question it, to find the answers I have been desperate to find, but just as I got a few steps closer it disappeared. Frustration and anger ran through me like never before. I needed answers and I was going to get them no matter what. I allowed the overwhelming frustration that was starting to consume me to be the fuel for my most intense training session.
Behind the trees with an invisibility spell:
Keiria: "It's almost time."
Deir: "He does not seem ready, not yet, my Queen"
Keiria : "He will be, Deir, very soon. His time is approaching"
