Supercub - a Rebuild

I purchased a used Horizon Hobby Supercub back in May.  It used older tech and a brushed motor with a gearbox.  My initial thought was this would be a good plane for one of my sons to free flight - like a glider.  It has a 48" wingspan, did not have Ailerons, and used a different type of battery (almost a square).

Replacing the motor was fairly easy.  I made a motor mount from a carbon tube, cutting 4 lengths and used the original motor mount screws.  Took several attempts to get the correct length and angles.

I put a used motor from a Carbon Cub S+ in as well as it's Propeller mount and a 9X6 propeller.

I pulled a receiver from the Carbon Cub S+ as well, an AR3232 which has the ability to connect to a GPS module for some interesting benefits.  The GPS module was not installed though.

ailerons were a must and I figured flaps would get cut in at a later time.  I taped in the servos initially - and used linkage/clevis from a (you probably guessed it), a Carbon Cub.  Marks for the flaps will likely fade before we actually cut them out.

I modified the battery cage so it could hold a 1300mAh battery (also from the Carbon Cub), but the battery was too long.  Additional contouring will be required.

Initial flights were okay.  The plane got off the ground after I did several scoots up and down the driveway.  Adjusted the ailerons and rudder a few times.

Supercub sits, waiting for a dry day to conduct additional flying tests.
