*Daryl*

I had gotten captured and I was struggling as I tried to get away from them. I had a sack over my head and it was getting hot. I heard lots of people and suddenly the sack was yanked off my head and I was standing next to my brother and surrounded by people and the Governor was standing there with a bandage over his eye and he was glaring. I just stood as he talked to the crowd. I looked at Merle and he just looked at me, I still couldn't believe I was looking at my brother he was alive, my brother was alive. Suddenly a woman came into the mix but was held back and I couldn't believe me eyes. It was Andrea.

"Let em go. Let em go"

The Governor eyes never left us.

"Its not up to me anymore. The people have spoken."

Andrea looked horrified.

"What?"

He started to cirlce Merle and I then looked at him.

"I asked you where your loyalties lie, you said here. Well prove it, prove it to us all. Brother against brother winner goes free" he said with a sadistic smile.

I looked at Merle. Was he really going to do it? Suddenly Merle turned towards the crowd and held up his hand.

"Yall know me, I'm going to do what I do"

Suddenly a hit was landed to my stomach and I hunched over.

"To prove that my loyalty"

He kicked me and I curled up in the dirt.

"Is to this town."

Andrea was yelling to make the govenor stop. Instead of taking this I swung back punching Merle but before I got up he got me pinning me to the ground I put my hands on his shoulders and he gripped my vest.

"You really think this assholes gonna let you go?" I said.

"Just follow my lead little brother we're getting out of this."

And with that he pulled me to my feet and we stood back to back ready to fight.  I kicked one of the walkers that surrounded us and suddenly shots were fired and steamer was thrown obscuring our vision.  I punched a guy who came at me with Merle right behind me.

"Merle come on."

I grabbed my crossbow from a mans hands as I passed and Merle knocked him out.

"Daryl" Adelyne said appearing with Rick and Maggie her crossbow on her back and gun in her hands.

We followed them out of the arena and onto the street. I watched as Adelyne kicked open the huge door that was already broken grabbing her knife plunging it into the head of walker and kept going.

"Come on."

"You're not going anywhere with us!" Rick told him.

"You really wanna do this now?!" Merle asked.

He took down a walker and bashed his head in.

"A little help would be nice!"

"Lets go" Adelyne said and we all followed.

*Adelyne*

We slowed to a walk and the sun had come up. We came to where the cars were and we heard Glenn and Rick quickened his pace.

"Okay listen we have a-"

"What the hell is he doing here?!" Glenn yelled pulling his gun.

Michonne had her sword out as I stood with Maggie.

"He tried to kill me!" She yelled.

"Drop the sword" Rick told her.

Everyone was yelling and Merle was leaning against a tree smirking and I gave him a look.

"He helped us get out of there drop it" Daryl said.

"'Yeah right after he beat the shit out of you."

"Hey we both took our licks" Merle said with  a smile that irritated me.

"Jackass" Daryl muttered.

"Hey shut up."

That's when everyone started shouting again.

"Hey get that thing out of my face!" Daryl yelled at Glenn who had a gun.

"Man its looks like you gone native brother."

Daryl turned towards his brother,

"No more than you hanging out with that psycho back there"

"oh yeah man he is a charmer I'll tell you that. Been putting a wood to your girlfriend Andrea big time baby."

 I still couldn't believe Andrea was in Woodbury I hadn't seen her in a long time. Sure we didn't always get along but she was one of us.

"Andrea's in Woodbury?" Glenn asked.

"Right next to the governor" I told him.

Rick grilled Michonne asking if she knew Andrea and when she didn't answer Merle did for her explaining that they spent the whole winter together.

"Shut up Merle!" Daryl yelled.

I started to walk and I stood by Rick. Merle looked at everyone and still had a stupid grin on his face.

"Hey man we snagged em out of the woods Andrea's close to dying."

"Is that why she's with him?" Maggie asked.

"Yep snug as two little bugs. So whatcha gonna do now sheriff? Surrounded by a bunch of liars, thugs, and cowards man"

"Shut up" Rick said looking at him.

Merle laughed again.

"Oh man look at this pathetic. All there guns with no bullets in em"

Daryl leaned close to his brother who wouldn't shut the hell up.

"Merle shut up!"

"Shut up yourself a bunch of pussies you roll-"

I wacked Merle in the back of the head like Rick taught me with the end of my gun and he became silent and fell to the ground. Everyone looked to me  especially Daryl.

"I got him to shut up didn't I? He'll be fine" I explained.

We all walked away leaving Merle there so we can talk.

"It won't work" Rick told them.

"It's gotta" Daryl said looking at me.

"He'll stir thing up."

"The governor is on his way to the prison right now. Merle knows how he thinks and we can use the muscle."

"He's not going back to the prison"

"Do you really want him sleeping in the same cell block as Carol and Beth?" Glenn asked.

"He ain't a rapist."

"His buddy is."

Daryl's eyes moved to Glenn.

"They ain't buddies no more. Not after last night" he explained.

"There's no way Merle's going to live there without putting everyone at each others throats" I chimed in.

Daryl looked at me in disbelief I shrugged indicating that I was right since no one said otherwise. I admired how Daryl wanted his brother to stay. But he had almost killed Glenn and Michonne and now he wanted him to be at the prison. There was no way that was going to fly.

"So you're gonna cut Merle loose and bring la samurai home"

"She's not coming back with us" Rick said.

"She's not in a state to be on her own. At least let my Dad patch her up" Maggie explained.

"She's too unpredictable"

"That's right we don't know who she is. Merle, Merle's blood"

Glenn looked at me for some reason I couldn't understand then back to Daryl.

"No Merle is your blood. My blood, my family is standing right  here and waiting for us back at the prison"

"And you're part of that family, and he's not" Rick told him.

I looked at him and nodded. I loved him but I barely knew Merle and seeing as everything that happened he wasn't exactly on my good side. He beat the shit out of Glenn and threw a walker at him. Off in the distance we heard Merle waking up. Daryl looked at everyone,

"Man ya'll don't know"

Nobody said anything and I felt like I was taking sides but I seen both sides of it. After a while Daryl said,

"Fine we'll fend for ourselves."

My eyes widened no fucking way! He was just going to leave after everything we'd all been through? He was going to leave me?

"That's not what I was saying" Glenn explained.

"No him, no me"

"Daryl you don't have to do that" I told him my eyes welling with tears.

I wanted so badly to latch onto him to keep him from going anywhere.

"It was always Merle and I before this."

"You serious you're just gonna leave like that?" Glenn asked annoyed.

I was in shock he couldn't go. I loved him!

"You'd do the same thing."

"What are we suppose to tell Carol and everyone else?" Maggie asked.

"They'll understand."

Daryl started to walk and instantly I followed and so did Rick.

"No no Daryl" I begged.

Rick fell into step.

"Hey hey, there's got to be another way."

Daryl stopped walking and I clutched onto his arm and he looked at me and then back to Rick.

"Don't ask me to leave him. I already did that once"

Ouch, that was a slap in the face. That one hurt.  He started walking again and we followed him.

"We started something last night you realize that?" Rick asked him.

I stood next to Rick my whole body shaking, Daryl opened the trunk to the one car and grabbed his arrows.

"No him no me. That's all I can say"

"Daryl don't please" I begged.

He looked at Rick and I.

"Take care of yourself, take care of little ass kicker and Carl he's one tough kid."

No!

He started walking away and I followed him. I looked back at Rick giving him  a look that said let me try and talk to him. I grabbed Daryl's arm and forcefully turned him.

"You're just going to leave just like that Daryl? How could you do that after everything we've been through together?" I asked.

His blue eyes met mine and he sighed.

"Adelyne baby it's my brother, I can't just leave him. I care about him"

My mouth dropped open.

"What about me? Do you care about me? You said 'You're my world Adelyne I need you always' those were your words exactly were you lying?" I cried.

Daryl ran a hand through my hair.

"You know I love you and I wasn't lying to you I do need you but this is Merle he's my brother" he said.

I ran a hand through my messy hair sighing.

"Then I'll go with you" I told him.

Daryl shook his head.

"No, I know you don't want to and I won't put you in a position to choose between me and the group" he explained.

My mouth opened shocked.

"You don't want me to go with you Daryl? Don't you want me?"

"Its not like that. I just can't have you coming with me nothing personal but its Merle and I. I'm not going to make you choose between the group and I" Daryl told me putting his hand on my shoulder and stroking my neck with his thumb.

"So just to hell with everyone else? And me? I can't believe you wont stay and you don't want me to come" I cried hanging my head.

Daryl sighed sad and reached into his pocket and took my hand and he placed something in my hand and I opened my fingers and seen a bracelet. It was dirty and tattered but the beads read BE HAPPY. I started to cry harder and I clutched it.

"Katie gave this to me because she wanted me to be happy and for luck finding my brother. Well I found him and now it's your turn to find happiness even without me" he explained.

I wiped my eyes.

"Daryl"

Daryl set down his crossbow down on the ground and slipped off his vest and handed it to me putting his crossbow back on him.

"Here you keep this, I want you to have it so whenever you wear this or see this you think of me. I love you Adelyne I always will, I have to go now."

He pulled me against him and kissed me passionately. I kissed him back tears flowing down my cheeks. Daryl pulled back brushing my face with his hand.

"Goodbye Adelyne."  

My heart broke watching Daryl walk away from  me. Merle smiled putting his arm around Daryl and they started walking. Rick touched my arm. I sniffled clutching onto his vest and the bracelet and followed Rick back to the cars and we drove home.

My daughter was gone and now so was Daryl.
