*Adelyne's POV*

Daylight had fallen by the time we got back to the highway. I hadn't slept all none of us had. I guess were were all still in shock. The farm was gone we just couldn't believe it. Rick stopped an we all got out.

"Where's mom you said she'd be here" Carl looked at Rick annoyed and betrayed.

I leaned against the car deciding that I should sit this conversation out. All I wanted was Daryl just Daryl. I wanted him to hold me. I wanted to hear him tell me he loved me. I wanted him and everyone to be okay. But I also had to be brave for Carl, Rick, and Hershel. They needed me we all needed eachother.

"Carl-" Rick began,

"No. Whay are we running? What are you doing? It is Mom. We need to get her and not be safe a mile away" Carl yelled.

I put my hand on his shoulder letting him know that he needed to calm down. There could be walkers on the highway.

"Shh you need to be quiet all right? Please." Rick asked.

Carl nodded.

"Please...it's Mom."

"Carl listen--"

"No" Carl cried walkig away.

I looked at Rick and his sad eyes looked at me.

"I'll get him."

I walked after him.

"Carl."

He stopped and looked at me.

"What?"

"Just stop okay. Please and talk to me" I told him.

"Do you think we should go back?" he asked immediatly getting to the point.

"Carl listen. You know I love Mom too. But there's nothing we can go back too. The farm is overrun everyone single car is gone. You need to believe she's okay. I'm sure mom is fine and headed here right now."

I manged to get him to wak back over with me where well waited. We tried to wasit as long as we could but walkers kept roaminig around. Hershel was going to stay on the highway and wait He wanted Rick to get me and Carl to safety.

"We aren't leaving you we-"

That's when we heard the sound of cars pulling up and I heard the lovely sound of a motorcycle.

*Daryl's POV*

We pulled onto the highway every single car. I found Glenn driving so I followed his car. And we all showed up here. I heard Lori cry out and that's when Adelyne appeared like she was looking for me too. I quckly turned off my bike and ran to her. I crashed into her and picked her up off her feet and held her and I actually started cry just as she did. I put her down and looked at her through tearful eyes and kissed her then pulled her against me again.

"My god I was so scared I would never see you again" I whispered my voice cracking from tears.

She held me like it would kiil her if I ever let go and I ran my hands in her hair.

"Daryl I love you so much. I'm so glad you're okay. Don't ever leave me please."

I pulled away and looked at her.

"I love you too. I heard you scream for me but I couldn't find you. I couldn't take it if you had died. You're my world Adelyne I need you always" I explained.

She smiled and ran a hand along my face.

"I'm right here Daryl. I'm here"

I nodded and kissed her again pulling her against me.

Everyone rejoiced and I looked around.

"Where's the rest of us?" I asked holding Adelyne close.

"We're the only ones who made it so far" Rick explained.

"Shane?" Lori asked.

Rick shook his head. Him, Carl and I knew the truth of what really happened to Shane.

"Andrea?" Glenn asked.

"She saved me and then I lost her" Carol admitted looking at everyone.

"We saw her go down" TDog said.

"Patricia?"

Beth started to cry.

"They got her too. Took her right from me. I was-- I was holdin' onto her Daddy. she just-- what about Jimmy? Did you see Jimmy?" Beth asked.

"He was in the RV it got over run" Adelyne said and I rubbed her back.

"You definitely saw Andrea?" Carol asked.

"There were walkers everywhere" Lori explained.

"But did you see her?" Carol asked again.

I got onto my motorcyle.

"I'm going to go back"

"No."

"We can't just leave her" I said I seen Adelyne nod and Rick looked at her.

"We don't even know if she's there" Lori told us.

"She isn't there. She isn't. She's either somehwere else or she's dead" Rick explained giving everyone the blunt truth.

"So we're not even going to look for her?" Glenn asked.

"We've got to keep moving. There have been walkers crawling all over here."

"I say head east" Tdog suggested.

"Stay off the main roads. The bigger the road the more walkers, more assholes like this one. I got him" Adelyne said as she walked closer and shot the walker with her arrow and then pulled it out.

I had to admit she looked sexy and sounded sexy too with that whole southern accent coming out more fully. She walked back adn we all got into the cars and Adelyne go on the back on my bike and we just drove.

*Adelyne's POV*

I wasn't sure how long we had been driving for but we only came to stop when Rick honked the car horn. We all stopped and Rick got out with eveyone.

"You out?" Adelyne asked.

"Runnin' on fumes" Rick told her.

We all stood around armed and cautious. Daryl stuck close by me like I knew he would. My god I loved this man.

"We can't stay here" Maggie told us.

"We can't all fit in one car" Glenn added.

"We'll have to make a run for some gas in the mornning" Rick told us.

"Spend the night here?" Carol asked.

'I'm freezing" Carl told us.

"We'll build a fire."

I pulled off my jacket and gave Carl mine and he quicly put it on. I walked over to Daryl who had taken his off and I refused it but he insited and I slipped it on breathing in his delicous smell. Like nature but better it was hard to explain.

"You go out looking for firewood, stay close" Daryl instructed. "Only got so many arrows. How you doing in ammo?"

Not enough" Rick said.

"We can't just sit here with our asses hanging out" Maggie retorted.

"Watch your mouth" Hershel ordered. " Stop panicking and listen to Rick."

Rick looked around.

"All right, we'll set up a perimeter. In the morning, we'll find gasand some supplies. We'll keep pushing on."

I stepped forward.

"Glenn and I can go make a run now, try to scrounge up some gas" I said.

Daryl nudged my back and I looked back at him and he shook his head I rolled my eyes.

"No, we stay together. God forbid something happens and people get stranded without a car."

"Rick we're stranded now" Glenn explained.

"I know it looks bad, we've all been through hell and worse, but at least we found eachother. I wasn't sure-- I really wasn't-- but we did. We're together. We keep it that way. We'll find shelter somewhere. There's gotta be a place." He explained trying to give us all hope.

""Rick look around. okay?" Glenn said. "There'e walkers everywhere. They're migrating or something."

Rick sighed annoyed. And I felt for him this man was my father and he was trying to keep us all safe.

"There's got to be a place not just where we hole up, but that we fortify, hunker down, pull ourselves together, build a life for eachother. I know it's out there. We just gotta find it"

"Even if we do find a place and we think it's safe. We never be sure for how long? Look what happened with the farm we fooled outselves into thinking it was safe" Maggie informed him.

"We won't make that mistake again" I told her.

Rick looked around.

"We'll make camp over there, get on the road at the break of day."

"Does this feel right to you?" Carol asked looking at Daryl.

I had to admit that that shocked me she even asked him. Since when?

"What if walkers come through or another group like Randalls?" Beth asked.

"You know I found Randall right? He turned but he wasn't bit"

I looked at Daryl. What?

"How's that possible?" I asked.

"Rick what the hell happened? " Lori asked.

"Shane killed Randall just like he always wanted to" Daryl told her.

Lori didn't tear her eyes from Rick. I knew that this was eating at him. He killed his best friend.

"And then the heard got him?" Lori asked.

Everyhting fell silent and after a long minute Rick said.

"We're all infected."

"What?" I asked shocked.

"At the CDC, Jenner told me. Whatever it is, we all carry it."

Daryl walked away and looked after him. Then he walked back

"And you never said anything?" Carol asked.

Rick answered her with another question.

"Would it have made a diffrence?"

"You knew this whole time? "Glenn asked his arm crossed over his chest.

"How could I have known for sure? You saw how crazy that mo--" he said looking at Daryl.

"That is not your call. Okay, when I found out about the walkers in the barn. I told, for the good of everyone."

"Well he thought it best if people didn't know" I said.

Glenn along with everyone else looked at me.

"Did you know this whole time too?" he asked shocked.

I shook my head.

"No. I didn't but I know Rick he didn't tell for a reason" I explained standging up for him.

Night had fallen and we were all siting around a fire and I was laying on Daryl's chest and he was holding me. Carol was next to us and no one said anything for a while.

"We're not safe with him--keeping something like that from us. Why do you need him? He's just gonna pull you down" Carol whispered to Daryl.

I couldn't believe me ears? How dare she. Rick had kept her alive countless times and lead a shirt for her daughterr when he didn't have to do that. He even went after her.

"Nah Rick's done alright by me"

"You're his henchman and I'm a burden" she told him.

"What do you want?" Daryl asked.

"A man of honor."

Okay, now this was where I was going to step in.

"Rick has honor" I began while I looked at her. "He's done alot to keep this group alive. He even lead a search for your daughter which he didn't have to do. He's kept us alive longer than Shane would have. He is a man of honor. Do you think you can do better on your own Carol?" I asked.

She just looked at me and didn't say a word.

"That's what I thought."

I rest my case.

"I think we should take our chances" Maggie looked at Glenn.

"Don't be foolish. There's no food, no fuel, no ammo."

The leaves rustled and everyone sat up alarmed by the sound. Daryl stood up holding his crossbow.

"What was that?" Beth asked.

"Could be anything. Could be a racoon. Could be a possum. "

We all stood up.

"A walker" Glenn said.

Carol looked around.

"We need to leave. What are we waiting for?" Carol asked.

"Which wasy?" Glenn asked.

"It came from over there" Maggie answered.

"Back from where we came?" Beth asked.

"'Yeah." I told her.

Rick walked closer to us.

"The last thing we need is for everyone to be running off in the dark. We don't have vehicles. No one's traveling on foot.''

"Don't panic" Hershel said.

"I'm-- I'm not sitting here waiting for another herd to blow through" Maggie expalined.

"No one is going anywhere" Rick said sternly.

"Do something" Carol begged.

"I am doing something! I'm keeping this group together, alive. I've been doing that all along, no matter what. I didn't ask for this. I killed my best friend for you people for Christ's sake!"

Carl cried into Lori's chest and Daryl grabbed a handfull of my jacket and pulled ,me back towards him and we all looked at Rick. We all stood silent as the rest of the group absorbed what he just said.

"You saw what he was like, how he pushed me, how he compromised us, how he threatened us. He staged the whole Randall things, led me out to put a bullet in my back. He gave me no choiced. He was my friend but he came after me. My hands are clean....Maybe you people are better off without me. Go ahead. I say there's aplace for us, but maybe--maybe it's just another pipe dream. Maybe--Maybe I'm fooling myself again. Why don't you--why don't you go find out for yourself? Send me a postcard. Go on, there's the door. You can do better? Let's see how far you get.....No takers? Fine. But get one thing straight-- you're staying, this isn't a democracy anymore."
