Looking Down and Back

Once again he stood looking down on the pathetic homo sapiens. He could only wonder what was going through their minds. Did their bodies feel the same oppressing weight they'd forced upon mutants? Magneto turned his head surveying the "paradise" he'd fought so hard to create. The corners of his mouth twitched at the sight of the shining city. Mutants soared through the sky and raced across the ground. That moment was ruined though as the door slammed open behind him. He turned to face his daughter, Scarlet, fuming in the middle of his room.

"I can't do this anymore!" She shouted while glaring at him.

"Do what my dear?" He asked only watching her as she began to pace. His eyes following as she moved back and forth.

"Any of this! At first I could stand behind it. We were fighting for something I could believe in. Equality for ourselves but then you pushed it to far. I had to watch and help as you butchered and enslaved the masses. And all of it for what!?" She ranted stopping and staring at her father once again.

"I built this paradise and gave mutants the equality we deserved. Believe me I tried to do things peacefully. I negotiated along with a dear friend. However all attempts were ignored or denied and he died for it." Magneto took off his helmet and stared at his reflection in its surface. "I am only putting those monsters in their proper place." He stared and looked up at his daughter in the eye. She returned his gaze and sighed.

"Has it ever occurred to you that you're just like them?" She asked before walking out the door.

Magneto exhaled deeply and replaces his helmet. He returned to his perch in his balcony overlooking the society he'd built on blood. A single thought now gracing his mind. Where is the line between hero and monster?

"How long ago did I cross it?"

This was a one shot. Hope you enjoyed.
