Part 2 Sneek Peak
Becca breathes heavily as she and Peter scramble away from each other after rescuing Stephen and killing Thanos's minion. She rubs her arms with her hands as she and Peter glance at each other awkwardly. They had fought together in New York, even helped each other get into the ship. But if it wasn't battle related, they were two awkward teenagers who had broken up and didn't know how to be around each other.
Peter extends his hand for Becca like he always did in the past for her to wrap his arms around his neck for them to swing down to the platform. But Becca didn't take his hand. She shot out a wire from her wrist and swung herself down to the platform where Stephen and Tony were.
"Still awkward..." Peter mumbles to himself as he then jumps off and lands beside Stephen's cloak. "Hey, we haven't officially met." He murmurs but the cloak flies away and Peter sighs, "Cool." He says with his hand extended.
Becca smiles as the cloak pats her head as it passes her on it's way to Stephen. She follows the cloak and wraps her arms around Stephen gently. She helps him stand as he looks at Tony, "We gotta turn this ship around." Stephen says as the cloak attaches itself to Stephen's shoulders.
Tony scoffs as his suit retracts, stunning Becca but she knows there is a time and place for the two to reconnect after they deal with all of this. "Yeah, now he wants to run. Great plan."
"No, I want to protect the stone." Stephen corrects Tony and he and Becca walk over to Tony.
"And i want you to thank me. Now, go ahead. I'm listening." Tony retorts and Becca huffs in annoyance with her brother.
"Buddy." Becca whispers and Tony turns around, his eyes look at Becca and she could feel he was angry at her for leaving with Natasha. He hadn't allowed himself to be angry with his sister until he saw her join the fight back on Earth in New York, how she was with Stephen, Wong and Evelyn. Natasha had left her in their hands when she decided to join Steve, Sam and Pietro undercover.
"Don't. Not now." Tony tells his sister and she nods slowly.
Stephen glances between the two carefully. He knew a little of what happened, but not in its entirety. "Apologize for what? Nearly blasting me into space?" Stephen questions.
Tony whips his head around as the four of them all walk onto the pilot's platform. "Who just saved your magical ass? Me." He snaps.
Stephen sighs, shaking his head, "I seriously don't know how you fit your head into that helmet." He questions.
"Admit it, you should've ducked out when i told you to." Tony states, "I tried to bench you. You refused."
Stephen shakes his head, "Unlike everyone else in your life, i don't work for you." He states.
"And due to that fact, we're now in a flying doughnut billions of miles away from Earth with no backup." Tony states.
Becca and Peter both raise their hands, "I'm backup." They say in unison and they glance at each other sheepishly. The two older men look between the two teenagers but decide to ignore the obvious atmosphere the teenagers have around them.
"No, you two are stowaways." Tony retorts and then motions between himself and Stephen, "The adults are talking."
Becca huffs and crosses her arms, "I'm technically older than both of you." She reminds them. "Who was born in 1945? Me." She murmurs underneath her breath. Peter chuckles quietly at her frustration.
Stephen chuckles softly at Becca then steps away from her to move closer to Tony. "I'm sorry, i'm confused as to the relationship here. I only know very little from what i've been told." Stephen mutters, Becca had only said details she needed to say. And Stephen and Tony had only met a handful of times but it was always with Mary. "What is he, your ward?"
"No." Peter mutters quickly, "I'm Peter by the way." He introduces himself and extends his hand to the Doctor.
"Doctor Strange." Stephen responds and before Becca can clarify to Peter, the teenage boy steps in and only makes Becca's heart ache because she truly had missed him.
"Oh, you're using our made up names. Um...." Peter mumbles then squares his shoulders and looks at the adults, "I'm Spider-Man, then." He tells Stephen.
The doctor looks at Becca, "Him?" He asks and Becca sheepishly shrugs and avoids anyone's eyes. Peter looks over at Becca and watches her. He wants nothing more than to hold her, to kiss her. To just simply be with her. But that isn't allowed anymore, he lost that right when he decided to let his anger and frustration get the better of him and break up with Becca.
"This ship is self-correcting its course. Thing's on autopilot." Tony mutters to Stephen as the Doctor walks onto the platform, leaving the teenagers to their own devices.
"Can we control it?" Stephen asks. "Fly us home?"
Becca waits for Tony's answer, she knew her brother could do anything. He had overcome so much in his life and she knew he could overcome this as well. But she saw the look on Tony's face after Stepehn asked his question, and Becca did not like the facial expression Tony had.
"Tony." Becca mutters, she knew she couldn't say his nickname, so she called him by his name and it felt wrong to her. It felt like she had lost that bond with her brother.
"Yeah." Tony responds and looks over at Becca briefly before looking at Stephen.
"Can you get us home?" Stephen reasks his question, emphasizing more and more each word as it comes out of his mouth. He also didn't like that Tony wasn't responding.
"Yeah, I heard you." Tony murmurs and crosses his arms as he looks around at the spaceship. "I'm thinking i'm not so sure we should." He says and Stephen loses it.
"Under no circumstances can we bring the Time Stone to Thanos." Stephen snaps, "Under no circumstances can we bring Rebecca to Thanos! What would Star say if she heard you talking like this?" He asks harshly, mentioning Mary for the first time since they had rescued him. "I don't think you quite understand what's at stake here." Stephen whispers, still not believing the audacity Tony has within him to be contemplating this.
"What? No. It's you who doesn't understand..." Tony snaps and walks closer to Stephen, getting right in his face as he makes his point. "That Thanos has been inside my head for six years. Since he sent an army to New York and now he's back!" Tony exclaims, his fear dripping off each word he says. "And i don't know what to do. So i'm not so sure if it's a better plan to fight him on our turf or his, but you saw what they did, what they can do." Tony states to Stephen, "At least on his turf, he's not expecting it. So i say we take the fight to him. Doctor." Tony finishes and then looks at Stephen once more, "Do you concur?" He asks.
Stephen's eyes flit to Becca and Peter then to Tony, "All right, Stark. We go to him." He says, Becca starts to protest but Stephen shakes his head, "But you have to understand... if it comes to saving you or the kid, or even Rebecca or the Time Stone, i will not hesitate to let any of you die." He says and then Becca steps slightly closer to Peter subconsciously. "I can't, no matter how much i don't want it, because the universe depends on it."
Tony nods, taking in the fact that he's now working with his mother's apprentice and he apparently had no problem letting any of them die. But that didn't sit well with him, especially when he looked at Becca's worried gaze. He pats Stephen on the arm as he brushes past the doctor, "Nice. Good, moral compass." He murmurs, "We're straight." Tony then walks to the two kids, his sister and his protege. He looks them both in their eyes as they stand equal distance apart from the other, not wanting to get too close. "All right, kids." He murmurs, then looks at both of them and knights them with his arm, "You're Avengers now." He tells them both.
Peter's eyes widen, finally getting what he had dreamed of since Tony appeared on the couch in his apartment with Aunt May that fateful day. He was strived for this moment, to be an Avenger. While Becca, she was hesitant, she had been dubbed a Young Avenger back when she was helping her family fight Ultron before she was shipped off to the Parkers. But now, now she was a true Avenger in her own right.
The teenagers look at each other in shock and then Becca shakes her head and hands as Peter squares up his shoulders and puffs out his chest a little, proud of himself. He then nods to himself and prepares himself for the oncoming battle he knows they will face.
A little while later, Tony and Peter sit with Becca as Stephen at the platform. They both want to know what she's been up to, why she left, what she was doing all that time. They had so many questions, but Becca could only give so many answers before she didn't want to talk anymore.
All three of them had noticed Becca had matured mentally and physically in some ways. She was still the bubbly, innocent girl that she always has been, but she didn't hide her trauma anymore, or hide the fact that she was abused and trained to become a weapon. She wasn't as innocent as she used to be, and the three with her were starting to put that together.
"Where were you?" Tony asks, "You were sound asleep in your room and then the next thing i know, Friday is telling me you're no longer in the compound." He says and Peter whips his head to look at Tony.
"What?" Peter whispers.
Becca sighs, "There's not a lot i can say to that. Other than Aunt Tasha paid me a visit, and she offered me something i couldn't say no to, not after Vulture." She says to them both and Peter looks down, ashamed. He had played a part in her departure and he didn't even know it until now.
"What was the offer?" Peter asks softly.
Becca looks at both of them, and steels herself, something neither of them had seen her do. To lock down her emotions enough to compose herself and give an answer, "To take down the Red Room. To save hundreds of other girls just like me." She answers and their eyes widen, "I couldn't say no, not when the trauma of my decades there is still ingrained in me so much that i can't sleep at night because my body becomes cold even if i have five blankets on me. My mind thinks i'm back in Russia, the open windows of the cramped room during Russian winters." She says more than she anticipated, but that always happened when she talked with family.
"That's why i would hear you shiver... even in the summertime." Peter mumbles, looking down at his hands in his lap. There was still so much he didn't know about his flower. The trauma she had buried so deep that it only would resurface in traumatic experiences such as the Vulture dropping them both in the ice cold water.
Becca nods, "Winters are always the hardest for me, they might always be hard." She says, "But i couldn't let them do that to other girls like me anymore."
Tony leans forward and grabs his sister's hand, squeezing it and giving her a small smile. "You did the right thing." He tells her, "Any one of us would've done the same thing if we were in your shoes." He points out to her and she smiles softly, looking down at her booted feet. "You're family... they're set in their ways, one they know what they need to do to help others, they do it."
Becca nods, "I have two sides of stubborn." She teases and Tony chuckles, nodding in agreement. "Papa and Mama have always been so stubborn about what they want and their innate being to help others. Uncle Steve is the exact same."
Tony nods awkwardly, he still was on rocky terms with it all. He hadn't spoken to Steve at all, he didn't plan to. And he certainly wasn't going to speak to Bucky. But his mother was his mother, he couldn't help his desire to be with his mom. No matter her loyalties.
"What's that?" Peter asks, breaking the siblings from their moment as they look up to the screen and see an unfamiliar planet.
"I think we're here." Stephen says.
Tony's mind goes into work mode and looks at the steering of the ship. "I don't think this rig has a self park function." He states as he then moves over to one part of the steering mechanism and then looks over at Peter, "Get your hand inside the steering gimbal. Close those around it." He tells Peter, "You got it?"
"Eh.. yup." Peter groans as he tries to take control of the steering.
"This was meant for one big guy, so we gotta move at the same time." Tony points out and Peter nods.
"Okay, okay. Ready." Peter mutters as he and Tony begin to steer the ship.
Becca steps closer to Stephen and the cloak wraps itself around her shoulders, causing Stephen to look at his cloak in shock. Rumbling sends nervousness through the girl as she watches her brother and ex try and steer. "You might want to turn." Becca mutters nervously as she and Stephen watch the screen of where they are on the planet.
"Turn! Turn! Turn!" Peter shouts and they come into contact with a mountainside. Tony and Peter's helmets appear over their heads and Stephen takes Becca into his arms as he conjures a protective dome around them. As the ship falls apart, Becca wraps her arms around Stephen's waist as he focuses on the dome.
When they crash land, Becca goes out of Stephen's arms. Peter rips his arm from the steering and his arms and Iron Spider legs wrap themselves around Becca protectively.
Stephen helps Tony stand and they all breathe heavily. "That was close." Tony murmurs. Stephen nods in agreement with Tony then the two adult men look over at Peter and Becca. They both see Peter holding her closely, they both can tell he still loves Becca. And that Becca still loved him, but neither teenager wanted to admit that here and now during all of this. "I owe you one." Tony mutters.
Peter holds onto Becca and gently lets her feet touch the ground as he hangs upside down on his webbing, "Let me just say, if aliens wind up implanting eggs into my chest or something... and i eat one of you, i'm sorry." Peter rambles as Becca shakes her head and plaits her hair as quickly as she can to get it out of her face. Both men could see the hint of a smile on the girl's face as she listens to Peter talk.
"I do not want another single pop culture reference out of you for the rest of the trip. You understand?" Tony says to the boy.
Peter shakes his head, "I'm trying to say that something is coming." He says as he motions behind him as a ball rolls in between them and explodes.
Becca gasps as she sent away by the blast, wincing as she sits up as a group of people come into the hole of the ship and a knife is thrown at Stephen. "Thanos!" The green man with red markings on his body yells. Stephen is quick to send out a shield to stop the knives. Cloak launches itself at the green man and wraps itself around his head.
One man with red, glowing eyes shoots out laser type blasts at Tony and the two start flying in the air. Tony sends out a blast and it sends the other man backwards into Tony. The two tussle in the air but as the man lands on the ground, he laughs and clicks a button. Tony is then pulled to a part of the wall and he can't get out of it.
Peter yelps in surprise as a woman with antennas walks towards him, "Whoa, whoa, whoa! Please don't put your eggs in me!" Peter shouts in fear as he crawls backwards away from her and shoots out his webbing at her. The man Tony was fighting flies over and kicks Peter away.
"Stay down, clown." The man says.
Becca huffs as she watches Peter and his spider legs jumps out of the way from the man's blasters. Peter dodges them all until the man sends out a electric rope that wraps around Peter and shocks him onto the ground.
The green man on the other end struggles with Cloak, pulling at it with everything he has. "Die, blanket of death!" He shouts.
Becca rushes away from the masked man and grabs her guns, she cocks them as the masked man holds Peter up at gunpoint with his arm wrapped around his shoulders to keep him in place. Tony then readies his repulser at the green man as Cloak returns to Stephen.
"Everybody stay where you are. Chill the eff out." The masked man commands them all.
"You're in no position to speak." Becca snaps as she holds her gun at both Masked man's head and the antenna woman.
The masked man eyes Becca and then taps something on his head and his mask retreats and he aims his blaster at Tony, "I'm going to ask you this one time. Where is Gamora." He asks.
Tony aims his other repulser at the masked man and his helmet retracts as well, "Yeah. I'll do you one better. Who's Gamora?" He asks.
The green man underneath Tony then joins in. "I'll do you one better. Why is Gamora?"
"Tell me where the girl is or i swear to you i'm gonna french fry this little freak." The masked man threatens them.
Becca takes a step closer and her eyes narrow as Peter's glowing mask eyes widen slightly at her, "You do that, and i put a bullet in your skull." She snaps. She wouldn't lose anyone today, she didn't have the capacity for that anymore. And she especially couldn't lose Peter.
"Let's do it. You shoot my guy and i'll blast him. Let's go!" Tony snaps and Becca snaps her head over to Tony, eyeing him like he's lost it.
Tony's repulser shapeshifts into something more dangerous and the green man only eggs it all on. "Do it, Quill! I can take it." He tells them.
"No, he can't take it!" The antenna woman shouts.
Stephen nods in agreement, "She's right, you can't." He states monotoned.
"Oh, yeah? You don't wanna tell me where she is? That's fine. I'll kill all four of you and i'll beat it out of Thanos myself." The masked man snaps and points his repulser back at Peter's head and Becca steps closer to the man named Quill. "Starting with you!"
"I dare you to do it." Becca snaps at Quill.
Stephen then takes a step forward, "Wait, what, Thanos?" He then begins to put pieces together in his mind, "All right, let me ask you this one time. What master do you serve?"
Quill eyes Becca then looks at Stephen, "What master do i serve? What am i supposed to say, 'Jesus'?" He quips and Tony sends him a look as Becca's eyes widen slightly.
"You're from Earth." Tony mutters.
"I'm not from Earth, i'm from Missouri." Quill corrects Tony.
Tony groans, "Yeah, that's on Earth, dipsh-." Tony snaps, "What're hassling us for?"
"So... you're not with Thanos?" Peter asks sheepishly, speaking for the first time since the fight ended as he's stills being held against his will at gunpoint.
"With Thanos?" Quill mutters in shock, "No, i'm here to kill Thanos. He took my girl- wait, who are you?"
Peter's mask retracts and he answers, "We're the Avengers, man." He mutters and Becca slowly lowers her guns and uncocks them, putting them back in their thigh holsters.
Quill lets Peter go as the antenna woman speaks, "You're the ones Thor told us about."
"You know Thor?" Tony asks.
"Uncle Thor has met you?" Becca asks with a small smile, she had missed her Thunder god uncle. Quill looks at the girl confused as she said 'Uncle Thor'.
"Yeah." Quill nods and Peter looks up at the man, "Tall guy, not that good looking, needed saving." Peter's face contorts in confusion when Quill speaks about Thor and looks over at Becca.
"Where is he now?" Stephen asks and Becca then moves to Peter and grabs her knife from her boot and cuts open the ties that held him.
"He and two of our crewmates went with him to some place to build something." Quill responds and then looks at Becca, "You're scary, you know that?" He questions.
Becca flips her knife in her hand as Peter shrugs off the ties. "Next time don't threaten people i care about."
Quill nods sheepishly, "Noted."
