*(Y/N)* POV

Zero Two: "Finally found you. My Darling~"

(Y/N): "Now let's see where will it get us," I said, still looking down at everyone. I waved at the eight we met before, and they wave back, somehow not knowing what to think or do, "Yup! Let's head back to Plantation. We have to introduce ourselves" I smile at the girls.

Ryuko: "I don't think Lizia and by that Zero could get back on her own" She points her thumb at the still unconscious boy "Your 'Darling' seems to have enough for one day, Zero" She chuckles

(Y/N): "Go get the jump seats in Conia, Zero. I will grab him, and we will be on our way back" Zero nods, jumps onto Heliconia's faceplate, and then gets inside. I meanwhile unstrap the boy from the stamen seat and get him on my shoulder, holding him like a sack of potatoes "It's funny" I smile "We don't even know this guy's name or Code, but Zero recognized him right away. If it isn't him..."

Ryuko: "Her tears yesterday were those of sorrow, but with a lot of happiness in them" she smiles softly "Oh to be young and stupid again" She sighs

(Y/N): "Ryuko, you're eighteen..." She pouts "Hell! I'm eighteen!" I open my arms almost dropping the boy, "Ay! Sorry man, almost made you another injury"

Ryuko: "Let the girl train to when she'll tell her kids that" she pouts, "I hope you didn't forget"

(Y/N): "About our promise?" She nods, "I wouldn't dare to forget. We deal with what's happening here and rebuild our world, with some basic society and country, and then we'll get married, get kids, hopefully, a pair of twins, a boy, and a girl, and we name after our parents. After that, we will live together until our old life-fiber-filled bodies will say 'that's all folks' and we die in each other arms, surrounded by our kids, grandkids, and hopefully great-grandkids" I catch my breath "Simple plan for a happy life" Ryuko hearing my answer smiles and pecks my cheek.

Ryuko: "Made by yours truly" She winks and gets ahead inside Heliconia. We synchronize, and soon we grab inactive Strelizia on our back.

Zero Two: "Do you think..." She says under her nose, we can barely hear her.

(Y/N): "Huh?" I turn to the pink-haired girl, "You said something, Zero?"

Zero Two: "Do you think, now, he'll remember...?" I look at her, slight worry gets in my eyes.

'What if it's not him? What if he's... dead?' I slapped myself twice, 'No. You will not think about it like that. (Y/N) (L/N), you promised her. You and Ryuko promised to help her find him. There is a too big chance that this guy is him'.

(Y/N): "I... I think I know a way to be sure, Zero" Zero looked at me wide-eyed, with her turquoise eyes filling with hope to the brim "If what I think happened to him, they must've wiped his memory after he saved you. Doing things you did with him when you were kids should recreate some of his memories. Or I could always use life fibers-" Zero cut me off.

Zero: "I already told you (Y/N). No. From what you told me, your powers can also create fake memories. I want to be 100 percent sure it's him"

Heliconia: "That's true... And better not play the role of neurologist just yet (Y/N). Barazo taught us only the basics"

(Y/N): "Whatever you two say" I look back at Plantation 13. Some robots are already repairing it, all while the other robots clean up after the ceremony.

*Small timeskip, Plantation 13's FranXX hangar*

After we got back, a group of medics was already waiting for us. They took both Zero and the boy to the medical bay. We parked Heliconia in her designated place and later went to park Strelizia.

Strelizia: "A little more to the left, (Y/N)" the white FranXX told me

(Y/N): "How about now, Ryuko?" I asked it back.

Strelizia: "Perfect!" she smiles, and we back up to those silicone clamps, "Reapers here. We got Strelizia back. Proceed to refuel" We disconnect and open Lizia up, walking out to the catwalk. We walk side by side, talking about what happened today.

Ryuko: "You think she's alright?"

(Y/N): "Zero?" I chuckle, "She has a healing factor even more efficient than ours. Klaxosaur thing, I suppose" I shrug "The boy... well he didn't have any injuries. He must've lost consciousness from exhaustion and dehydration"

Ryuko: "He has a spirit, I tell ya. Running after two FranXX and a Klaxosaur to help some stranger Parasites. It takes a lot of courage and resolve"

(Y/N): "Heh, maybe we finally found some guys as incomprehensible as us?" I chuckle.

???: "(Y/N)! Ryuko!" We look at the person calling us, only to see uncle Werner.

Dr. FranXX: "Kids! Get down here, I need to introduce you to someone" he turns around with his cane and starts walking toward elevators. Ryuko smiles.

Ryuko: "We're coming, old man!"

(Y/N): "Well, he's almost 200 years old. That's quite old"

We chuckle quietly, and after changing into our normal clothes. Gray and black sneakers, blue jeans, a black and red t-shirt, and a black hoodie with Neko's eyes on its shoulders for me and white sneakers, a black, knee-length skirt, a white blouse with her favorite band logo on it, and a red hoodie with Senketsu's eye on its left shoulder for Ryuko

Soon we board the elevator, and uncle presses the button for the commanding center

Dr. FranXX: "You two will meet with Plantation's 13 Hachi"

Ryuko: "Wow... another buzz-cut general wannabe?" She scoffs.

Dr. FranXX: "This Hachi is different. Same as Nana. You'll see soon enough" Elevator music starts playing, as we ride for quite a while.

(Y/N): "Uncle, I wanted to ask..."

Dr. FranXX: "Ask away, my boy"

(Y/N): "How are Satsuki and Koruno doing? You four are still planning? Or are they going to join us here soon?" Uncle look in a mirror, into my reflection.

Dr.FranXX: "They still train with their FranXX. It's too soon to tell when they'll join you" I and Ryuko get our heads down.

Ryuko: "Damn it, sis. If not you and Koru, then who?"

Dr.FranXX: "But, there is some good news too, my dears. We have finished stage 2 planning. You will get your info soon" We nodded.

'Stage 2, operation Birds flew out of the Cage. Guess they found a perfect location to settle after all'.

Soon the elevator doors open and we enter a new room. It was all white 'duh, like everything here' There are some benches around four giant monitors on the right, while on the left is some machinery I don't quite understand how to operate... yet. Uncle clears his throat.

Dr.FranXX: "Hachi. I would like to introduce to you Code 004, (Y/N) and Code 006, Ryuko"

This Hachi turned around. He was about two, or three, inches taller than me. His dark blue hair is obviously cut short. His face, like every Hachi, is emotionless, and like every Hachi, he wears a defense commander uniform.

Dr. FranXX: "Ryuko, (Y/N), this is Hachi. He's Plantation's 13 Defense Commander"

(Y/N): "Hey"

Ryuko: "Hello" Hachi looked at us, then back at the monitors

Hachi: "Pleasure"

(Y/N): "And that's how dedication to your job looks like" I joke around, earning a small giggle from my partner, who whisper to my ear

Ryuko: "Everyone here is sooo uptight, they should know how to loosen up a little" she then has a devious idea "Hey, there should be a food wrap somewhere in here, right?" Knowing what she has in mind, I chop her lightly on the head, "Ow..."

(Y/N): "We're not twelve anymore Ryuko. Food wrap on the toilet seat is so last season... Now fart bombs are on top"

Ryuko: "That works too. But all seriously"

Hachi: "Commence connecting" Hachi ordered, and soon a feed comes on the monitors

We look at them, spotting four custom-made FranXX

One is white and pale blue. She has light blue eyes and pinkish-red hair covering her left eye. Like Heliconia and Strelizia, she has boosters around her waist, looking like a skirt, as well as a small tie above her bust. On her head sits a head crest in the same colors as the rest of the machine. She holds two, spear-like swords, one in each hand, which are filled with Magma Energy.

Ryuko: "I bet that FranXX belongs to the blue-haired girl" she whispers

(Y/N): "Oh, what gave it away? Surely not the bang" I chuckle and Ryuko pinches my arm. We get back to the monitors.

Second FranXX's color scheme is light-pink and white. With a pink head and bunny ears looking like pigtails. Her legs are striped in pink and white and as a weapon, said FranXX holds wolverine-like claws with Magma Energy, mounted to the wrist cuffs.

Third FranXX is all dark gray, with green highlights. She looks like wearing a helmet, with two golden stripes going from under it. Her whole body looks sturdy, tanky even, with it resembling she's wearing a trench coat. She holds a cannon, slightly taller than her, in the same colors, ended with a Magma Energy filled bayonet.

Fourth FranXX is all white and violet 'seriously what's with all the white? At least on FranXX here is black like Heliconia' She has a thin purple visor, covering most of her face. She has five fins on her head, two by each side of her head and one in the back, as well as an orange gemstone on top. In the matter of her eyes, she has only one visible cyan eye. Her arms are shaped like guns and have fins looking like wings on each of her forearms.

After each FranXX gets active, Hachi commands them to get ready for the real test. I meanwhile looked back at my uncle.

(Y/N): "So this is what you meant that this squad is special, huh, Uncle? Special made FranXX for each team?"

Dr.FranXX: "Not exactly, (Y/N). My team and I build them, and each one fills a different role in this squad. Her, for example" he pointed his cane to the bulky black FranXX" For example. This is Genista. Her role is to give support fire from the back of the lines with her cannon, while her dress is, fulfilling the role of armor and can take a lot of hits without damaging her pistil" Then he pointed to the pink and white one "Argentea is her opposite. She is an assassin, hitting her target and quickly getting away with her speed and agility. Every FranXX here has its pros and cons, but working together, and with those children piloting, we can win our planet back"

Ryuko: "So, how about Heliconia? And Lizia? Where are we in this?" Uncle chuckles.

Dr.FranXX: "Dear Ryuko, I thought you knew about it. Both Strelizia and Heliconia were built by me personally to fit both your and Zero Two's fighting style and abilities. I personally supervised every step, and every bolt to be sure they are perfect. As for their role, both Heliconia and Strelizia are supposed to stand on the front lines and spread fear in their enemy's hearts with a gaze of an eye. Knowing when you target it, it's as good as dead"

(Y/N): "Wow, not only we are practically unkillable hybrids, have clothes that enhance our strength and speed, I even can generate fire FFS, now we have a giant mech that is as or even more overpowered than its pilots"

Dr. FranXX: "Well said my boy" He chuckles, "You two were overpowered long before you took a step into Heliconia"

Ryuko: "Well..." She grabs her glove, "We can always transform into our Kamuis and fight in the old style"

Dr.FranXX: "Not a wise move, Ryuko"

(Y/N): "Statistically, Original Life Fiber was as big as Heliconia. And yesterday's Moho was double or even triple the size of Heliconia"

Ryuko: "Well... that makes sense" I meanwhile walked to Hachi and spotted their number and names of their FranXX:

'Team Delphinium: Positive 105; Negative 99

Team Argentea: Positive 98; Negative 93

Team Genista: Positive 89; Negative 86;

Team Chlorophytum: Positive: 82; Negative 89'

(Y/N): "Good numbers for the first time" I whisper

'Well, let's see where we can get with you, Squad 13' I smile

Dr. FranXX: "Seems like kids got it together. Hachi" The Commander hums, "Can you please call Nana here? I want her to show Code 004 and Code 006 their new home"

???: "There is no need, Doctor" we looked at the entrance to spot the red-haired caretaker already in the room. Uncle turned to me and Ryuko.

Dr.FranXX: "I have to go back to my facility. Dr. Inumuta is waiting for me. (Y/N), Ryuko, please take care of Zero Two. Make sure she behaves and doesn't cause too much trouble" We nodded. He lowers his hand, making us bench at his level, so we can look into his eyes. "Good luck my nephew, my niece-in-law. I will let you know when we have something new about our plans" He hugged us both. We hugged him back. After five seconds we broke it and he left the room. Nana then went to where we stand.

Nana: "Okay, kids. Please bring your belongings from your FranXX and then follow me"

We silently get back to Heliconia and grab two suitcases, one with '006' and the other with '004' on their sides. After that, Nana called us an elevator and after boarding it she pressed the button labeled 'Bird Cage'.

Nana: "I informed Code 015 about your arrival. She will show you around the Misteltinn. You two will be staying with them in the house. I hope you will get along with them" She smiled, kinda nervously.

(Y/N): "Um... Nana, is everything good?"

Ryuko: "We don't bite. I'm sure we will get along" Nana sighed.

Nana: "I really hope you two will, Ryuko. But kids heard rumors about you two as well as about Zero Two. I already saw you on the battlefield, but they didn't. So, please try your best not to scare them"

(Y/N): "Speaking about them. How's that cadet doing? He alright?"

Nana: "You mean Hiro? After he regained consciousness and some standard tests we run on him, he came back to the house. He should be there when we get there"

(Y/N): "Glad to hear that"

Ryuko: "And don't you worry, Nana. We won't do anything serious. A light slap to the back of the head or a flick on the forehead. We're more of a 'prankster' type. Of course, we have our limits so-and-so" I cough "Oh yeah, so don't worry" She gave Nana a cute, toothy smile, making the caretaker smile, even letting a small giggle.

Nana: "Well, I'm glad, too. And I hope you two will also look after them. You're older than them and I can always take some help with them"

(Y/N): "Yeah, sure thing, Nana. But we won't cook or do their laundry, no way"

Nana: "That's what other caretakers are doing. You will be only looking for them, so not any harm will be done"

(Y/N): "Oh, okay, so, a little like a drill sergeant?" I smile, "I like the idea"

Soon the elevator bell rings, and the doors open. We look around the forest near the elevator station, before taking our belongings and stepping off. We turn to look at Nana as she presses a button to get back.

Nana: "015 should be here soon. Good luck you two" We nodded and the elevator doors closes.

Ryuko: "Well... what now?" I look at my communicator, checking the time.

(Y/N): "Now... now we wait" I toss a rock away "You want to talk about the time we got in so much trouble in our old school, they called Koruno's dad to the principal?"

Ryuko: "Y-you mean" she was holding laughter, "HAHAHA! Okay, Haha. It was a rainy day in October if I remember"

(Y/N): "September, the start of the 8th grade" I smile

Ryuko: "Yeah, yeah... We wanted to start a school year with a bang" I chuckle, "So you bought online some cheap Chinese firecrackers..."

Ryuko and I continued to talk about our 'Boom-Boom Bang prank' for five minutes, that until we hear some footsteps. And not to our surprise, the blue-haired girl gets close to us and stops in front.

Blue-haired girl: "Hi! Code 004, Code 006, it's good to see you again" she bowed her head slightly, as I and Ryuko did the same "I never had a chance to introduce myself. I'm Code 015 and my name is Ichigo" she smiled at us.

(Y/N): "Well... sorry, we were in a hurry back then. Nice to meet you and see you again, Ichigo. I'm (Y/N), Code 004. And this is Ryuko, Code 006, my partner. Together we pilot Heliconia, our FranXX"

Ryuko: "Hey there" She waved at Ichigo

Ichigo: "If you would, please follow me"

With that, we took our suitcases and started following Ichigo

(Y/N): "Say, Ichigo"

Ichigo: "Hmm?"

(Y/N): "Do you know a boy named Hiro? Black hair, blue eyes, kinda scrawny?" At this, Ichigo seemed to form a slight fists out of her hands.

Ichigo: "Yes, I know, Hiro. Since the Garden to be honest. Our entire squad grew up together"

(Y/N): "And, how's he? After what happened before?"

Ichigo: "He said he wanted to take a walk around" We quit the topic until it's her time to ask now, "You two look older than any of us. Are you really piloting for only a month?"

Ryuko: "Yup"

(Y/N): "When you want to be special forces like us, you need three extra years" I smile

Ichigo: "So, those rumors about you two..." she looks kinda unsure of what to say, "are they real?"

I rotate my hand, making more or less sign

(Y/N): "Some of them are true. We're active for one month now. We're a single FranXX squad. Yes, I broke a nose of a certain APE special forces operative once. And no, we never killed an innocent person"

Ryuko: "Before we went to Dr.FranXX, we were supposed to be a normal squad, with (Y/N) as our leader and me as his second" She starts her imagination, trying to make it sound as real as possible "It was supposed to be a typical mission, Klaxosaur was coming towards the Garden, and they've sent us to deal with it. Then... it all went downhill. Mako... Satsuki... Ira... Koruno... all got swiped away by one hit. It broke their legs... White Rose and Amsonia... lying there in heap... next *sniff* next was..." Ichigo cut her off.

Ichigo: "Ryuko... there is no need..." she smiled at Ryuko after putting a hand on her shoulder, "You two have been through a lot. And I understand" She gives Ryuko a handkerchief "If you two don't wanna talk about it, we won pray, I promise."

(Y/N): "Thank Papa they all stayed alive. But since until they recover, we stay as Reapers"

'Why did you make me say that, Ryuko... although Uncle said something about our group becoming a squad if he could make it happen. Guess either he forgot or Papa declined his request'.

Ichigo:" I wish your friends a fast recovery, then. Which Plantation was supposed to be yours? If you don't mind me asking" Ryuko gets the rest of the tear wiped and gives Ichigo her handkerchief back.

Ryuko: "Thanks Ichigo" She looked up at the glass dome and the sky behind it "We were supposed to stay at Plantation 36, but it's now an unreachable dream" she sighed "But hey, we traveled the outside world with our new friend, so it's not so bad"

We arrived at the white Boarding House, a place looking nothing different from other Plantations' houses. We get near the entrance, where that blond, tall boy with glasses awaits, sitting on the stairs.

Tall boy: "Ichigo. You are back. And I see you brought our guests" He gets near me.

Ichigo: "Ryuko, (Y/N), meet Goro, Code 056, my partner. Together we pilot Delphinium" Goro extends his hand for a handshake and I gladly took it. I was surprised that despite his tall and skinny appearance, he got a good grip.

Goro: "Hey. It's nice to be one of the first to see Reapers in person" we broke the handshake "Welcome to Misteltinn

(Y/N): "Pleasure is all ours, Goro" I smile "Say, you have some strength, you up for an arm wrestling match later?" I smirk, making Goro scrape the nape of his neck.

Goro: "I would lose right away, hehe" he then turned to Ichigo "Everyone is in the lounge like you asked, Ichigo. Except for Hiro" Ichigo sigh and later gets ahead of us.

Ichigo: "Of course, he's wandering somewhere..." She turned around, facing us, "Ryuko, (Y/N), please follow us. We'd like to introduce you to our squad"

We walked inside and get to the first floor. From remembering our route yesterday, we're getting closer to the lounge. Soon we enter, and we're met with the remaining six of the eight Parasites of Squad 13 we met before, minus Ichigo and Goro. Well... they got shocked seeing us.

(Y/N): "Um... Hello Squad 13" I and Ryuko waved our hands at them as they get shock out of their systems.

Ryuko: "Ummmm... are you guys alright?" She asked concerned and looked at Ichigo. Then this blond, short guy spoke.

Zorome: "Reapers?! What these two are doing here?!"

(Y/N): "Well... first of all, please calm down" I raised my hands, making my intentions clear "Second of all, we're here on an order from Dr.FranXX"

Ichigo: "Everybody, calm down, especially you Zorome. Please. Reapers are not like everyone is picturing them. Please welcome, Code 004, (Y/N) and Code 006, Ryuko. They are our guests for the time being" The blond short guy now known as Zorome sighed and get near us.

Zorome: "Well, good to hear that, Ichigo. I will take it from here" He extends his hand to me "I'm Zorome the Great, Code 666. The best pilot in this Squad" upon hearing him introduce himself to us, we hear a couple of groans as well as see a couple of eye rolls. Then the girl with red twin tails spoke.

???: "Don't listen to him. He likes to boast a lot. I'm Miku, Code 390. I and unfortunately Zorome pilot Argentea" Zorome stormed to her, as she had a smug smile.

Zorome: "What was that, Miku?!"

Miku: "Great! Not only he's a pain, but he's also deaf!" And they started to argue. It kinda gets me a flashback to when Nonon and Uzu started dating for their 13 time.

'Heh, good old times' I smile and turn to Ichigo

(Y/N): "Ichigo, are these two always arguing like this?" Ichigo shook her head.

Ichigo: "You don't want to know, (Y/N)" She turned to the rest of her squad, "Alright, who wants to introduce themselves next?" The purple-haired girl with glasses closed her book and turned to look at us.

Girl: "Ikuno, Code 196. Nice to meet you two"

(Y/N): "Nice to meet you too"

Ryuko: "So... who is your partner?" the brown-haired boy standing in the corner scoffed and went out of the room

Ikuno: "Him. His name is Mitsuru, Code 326. We pilot Chlorophytum" I look at him, trying to get a read from him.

(Y/N): "A hard type I see"

Ikuno: "I know" she went back to her book. Then the red-brownish-haired guy finished eating and spoke to us.

Boy: "I'm Futoshi, Code 214 and this" He pointed his hand at the platinum-blond-haired girl with a blue headband "Is my lovely partner, Kokoro Code 556. Together we pilot Genista"

Kokoro: "It's so nice to meet you two," She said sweetly

'Oh, my god! I'm getting diabetes! This girl is a personification of the word 'Cute''

Neko: 'I told you she's cute!'

(Y/N): 'Not as cute as Ryuko. Kokoro is more like a 'little puppy' cute than 'I want to hold you forever and never let go' cute' We talk via our link.

Ryuko: "As Ichigo introduced us, I'm Ryuko, Code 006 and this is (Y/N), Code 004. Together we form Reapers as well as we pilot Heliconia together"

(Y/N): "She's that black FranXX you saw earlier" I and Ryuko bow our heads slightly, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Squad 13"

Ichigo: "Pleasure is all ours. Please, make yourself at home"

(Y/N): "Actually, we would like to walk around Misteltinn a little before it gets dark" I get my communicator out "Ichigo, let me give you my contact info. If something, just call me" I and Ichigo exchange our comm info.

Ichigo: "If you could, can you look for Hiro while walking? He doesn't respond to my calls and I start to worry about him" We nodded and went out.

Ryuko: "We will try to be back before dinner" We announce and walk out of the house "So, let's go" She offered me her hand, and I look at her "What?"

(Y/N): "Ryuko... it's a banned subject now. And they would freak out if they saw it. Let's walk a bit further away and then we can.

Ryuko: "Fine" we walk a bit away, and then we get a hold of each other's hand, "So, where to first?"

(Y/N): "Let's walk somewhere random. Maybe we could find Hiro somewhere by chance?" We walked through the forest, as the sound of water gets louder. We're near the lake "Ahh, the smell of the air filtered three times before it gets to your lungs" I exhale.

Ryuko: "Better than sandstorms we had a chance walking through. I remember when we get the cabin filters from Heliconia afterward. You could build a massive sandcastle out of it" She giggled.

(Y/N): "Also, what's up with the story? That we were supposed to be Squad 36, and all? What crossed your mind to lie?"

Ryuko: "I didn't lie to anyone. Uncle told us, we and the rest of our pack were supposed to be a Squad. It's a good undercover. They don't need to know our real story, just yet"

(Y/N): "Heh..." Then we spotted someone, a boy, with black hair and wearing a boy Parasite inform "Hey, isn't that him?"

Ryuko: "It is" She then tries to get his attention, "Hiro! Over here!" We shouted to him, he seemed shocked for a second, before walking toward us.

Hiro: "How did you know my name? I haven't introduced myself yesterday"

(Y/N): "Your squad introduced you to us. They try to get a hold of you" Hiro got his communicator out, spotting a few missed calls from Ichigo and Goro "Now, we already know your name, but..."

Hiro: "Ooh, of course... My name is Hiro, Code 016" I offered him a handshake and he accepted it.

(Y/N): "(Y/N) and Ryuko, Codes 004 and 006. We pilot Heliconia"

Hiro: "You mean... that black FranXX from earlier?" We nodded, "I must ask you something then... Was it I who piloted that white FranXX?" I and Ryuko nod.

Ryuko: "That's what you did. You piloted with our friend. Zero Two. The girl who assaulted you yesterday" I chuckle.

(Y/N): "More like she gave him a view to remember for his whole life. Hehe"

Hiro: "Is she here? I need to ask her something too"

(Y/N): "Zero... is still in the hospital. She'll be out tomorrow morning, so whatever you wanted to say, will need to wait"

Ryuko: "So... maybe give us a tour, so we can get to know each other better? What about that, Hiro?"

Hiro: "Sure" We walk around the Mistletinn as Hiro shows us the most important waypoints of it. Elevator, lake, the pound, the clearing in the forest. All while we get to know each other, "You, you two really are a single FranXX squad?"

(Y/N): "Yup. Hiro, how's it that you have such a low Code and still can't find a partner? Just curious" he sighed.

Hiro: "I've been tested multiple times, with many pistils. I just... couldn't. Earlier today was the first time I succeeded to connect to a pistil. I don't remember much of it, that's why I want to try again" He seemed to doubt himself for a while "I did pilot it, right?"

(Y/N): "Hiro, when I looked inside Strelizia, you were strapped to the stamen's chair. Strelizia herself changed from her Stampede mode to her Iron Maiden configuration. Ryuko: "You heard what we said about Zero's stamens so far. They tried to tame her, to make her submissive. But that girl is like a wild lion. Proud and untamable. And more alone than anyone... Until we met her, she was always alone. We're her first real friends. And we know a lot about her"

(Y/N): "The point is... you're the first stamen she likes. You are different from 081 or 335. And I think it's a good difference" I and Ryuko smile, "But remember... there is still her curse..."

Hiro: "Curse?"

Ryuko: "Rumors about her are true, Hiro. Zero Two has something we call her curse. Basically... no stamen of her was able to finish his third ride with her. They all die during it. With one exception"

Hiro: "Huh? Who?"

(Y/N): "Me" I looked at him "I and Zero were partners for a week when Ryuko twisted her ankle. They thought it was a good occasion to test me as her partner. Fortunately, her current stamen has just got 'decommissioned' after his third ride. We rode four times. Later I got back to Heliconia and Zero got another stamen. I was fine after all. But maybe it's because of our powers"

Hiro: "Powers?"

Ryuko: "(Y/N), you think it's a good idea to..." I cut her off.

(Y/N): "Heh, someone needs to know. And with Hiro as Lizia's stamen, he should know" I turned to the raven-haired boy "Hiro, we're not entirely humans too. We have something you can call 'superpowers'" I get my hand on fire, scaring the boy, "Haha! Don't worry, Hiro, it won't burn. Not as long as I don't want it to" I chuckle.

Hiro: "What... what about you, Ryuko?"

Hiro: "But how? When?"

Ryuko: "When we were little kids, infants, even we've been experimented on. They infused our bodies with some weird parasite from space. Years later, they awoke and we got our powers. Tada"

Hiro: "But... Papa would never allow something like that" I turn around, starting to walk back to the house.

(Y/N): "He doesn't have eyes everywhere" We walk away and Hiro gets behind us, "Do us a favor, Hiro. Don't tell anyone about us and our powers. Not Ichigo, not Goro, not everyone. We will tell them with time" The boy nodded, and we turned a corner in silence.

Hiro: "Soo... how long are you two staying with us?"

(Y/N): "As long as Zero Two does. We're an unofficial team. Dr.FranXX ordered us to travel with her" I looked at Hiro, seeing some worry behind his eyes "You did pilot with Zero. You did control Strelizia and you are still to pilot her again. Don't worry. I'm sure they make you her partner soon" I smile, somehow bringing small bling into his eyes.

Hiro: "You mention you control fire, (Y/N)" I nod, "That's how Heliconia gets her weapon on fire?" I nod again, "Thank you for being honest with me. And for believing I could do this"

(Y/N): "Hey, temporally or not, we are a part of Squad 13 for now"

We walked out of the forest, spotting Ichigo sitting on the stairs and playing with a black cat.

Ichigo: "Who is a cute fluffy smol kitty? Yes, you are~ Yes you are~" she purrs, before spotting us

Ichigo: "Hiro! Ryuko! (Y/N)!" she stood up, dusts her skirt, and walks to us

Hiro: "You didn't have to wait for me outside, Ichigo"

(Y/N): "Or us at the matter"

Ichigo: "As awkward as it is, you are a part of this squad, Hiro. Hold your head up and make yourself at home" Hiro walks inside, "As for you two, I thought you two got lost. (Y/N), Ryuko, the same goes for you two. You're staying with us" We walked past her, but she held my left sleeve, "Ryuko, go ahead. I need to talk with (Y/N) about some things" Ryuko nodded.

Ryuko: "I will be in the lounge (Y/N)" I nodded and Ichigo and I stand on the porch of the house

Ichigo: "(Y/N), I need you to be honest with me. Like one squad leader to another" I chuckle "I'm serious" She got a serious face "Was Hiro in that FranXX with her? Was he piloting that mech?"

(Y/N): "He was, Ichigo. And you saw how he was doing. I couldn't believe a freshly graduated cadet could pilot with such precision and in Strelizia non-less. He wants to try again since he couldn't remember anything"

Ichigo: "She's not a part of Squad 13! But... those rumors about her? Are they real, or just like rumors about you?" I stay silent, "Please, (Y/N)! You have to tell me!"

(Y/N): "It's... complicated... Most of her stamens die after a third ride. But... there are some exceptions"

Ichigo: "Exceptions? Like..."

(Y/N): "Like my case. In short, I piloted Strelizia four times. And as you see, I'm still alive"

Ichigo: "But still... you're probably a stamen with the lowest code there is. There is too much of a chance Hiro wouldn't make it. That's why I won't allow him" I chuckle.

(Y/N): "Ichigo, you can't stop him. I saw his eyes, he is too determined. And believe me, if he's as stubborn as Ryuko, he'll get there somehow, no matter what you told him" I went to enter the house "He told me Zero was the first pistil he could connect to. And I feel so damn sorry for him about that"

I entered the house, with Ichigo right behind me. We were met by Goro sitting on the sofa and Ryuko sitting on the stairs.

Goro: "You guys finished with your 'leaders' talk"

(Y/N): "More or less"

Ichigo: "Yup. Now, let us show you your rooms. Ryuko, you'll be staying with me and Ikuno in our room. (Y/N), you'll stay with Goro and Hiro" I nodded, took my suitcase, and follow Goro to the boys' wing.

Goro: "It's here" He opened the doors, and before my eyes stood a rather medium-sized room. On the left in the further corner stood a bunk bed, on the other side was a single bed. Before they were some shelves, a wardrobe, and a nightstand "Sorry for the mess, Hiro and I forgot to clean up" He smiles.

(Y/N): "It's okay Goro"

Goro: "You'll have the top bunk. The bottom's Hiro's and the bed is mine. Come on, get unpacked and let's go for supper"

I unpack and get my stuff to some empty shelves.

*Ryuko POV*

I follow Ichigo to our new room

'Guess our cuddling to sleep will have to wait' I sigh

Ichigo: "Something's wrong, Ryuko?"

Ryuko: "It's just... I guess I'm not used to being away from (Y/N)... That's all"

Ichigo: "He'll be there in the morning. Come on, let's get you unpacked and go for supper" We enter the room, spotting Ikuno on the bottom bed with a book in her hands "Ikuno, our new roommate is here" I nodded to her as a greeting, as she nodded too.

Ryuko: "I suppose the top bunk is mine" I put my suitcase up and start unpacking. Ichigo gets near me.

Ichigo: "Let me help you" She gets some of my things and helps me with putting them in the drawers, "Ryuko... how it is on the battlefield?"

Ryuko: "A lot of things are happening at once. You have to be aware that your situation can do a 180 in a second. You have to trust your partner first. Like I trust (Y/N) and he trusts me. As long as we do, I know nothing will happen to us or Heliconia"

Ikuno looked up from her book

Ikuno: "That reminds me... I think I saw an illustration in one book looking exactly like your FranXX"

Ryuko: "We didn't design her" She shrugged, "You must ask Dr.FranXX what he had in mind with her. Probably he just made it look like me, to make it easier for me to connect to her. Just like Ichigo and Delphinium" I turned my head to her "Good numbers for your first start, Ichigo"

Ichigo: "How do you know what she looks like?"

Ryuko: "(Y/N) and I was observing your startup with Hachi and Dr.FranXX. As to how I recognized she was your, well... Women's intuition" I smile, "C'mon girls. You can ask me questions later if you want to know something. Let's eat"

We went to the mess hall, girls got to their table, boys to theirs as they were on the other sides of the room. I and (Y/N) took a seat at an empty one. They started their prayer, and after we ate, we get back to the room for the night. I got to the bathroom, and change into (Y/N) overgrown shirt which still acts as my PJs, later get back to the room, and the girls get ready for the night too. I get up to my bunk bed and wait, looking at the ring on my left hand.

Ryuko: "Soon... soon it all will be real..." I said to myself, while Ichigo and Ikuno came back, wearing white nightgowns.

Ichigo: "What're you looking at, Ryuko" They saw the red ruby of a ring "That's a pretty ring"

Ryuko: "Thanks, it was a gift"

Ichigo: "From (Y/N), right?" I nod, "I know the feeling. Hiro gave me my hairpin when we were still in the Garden" She blushed a little.

Ikuno: "There was not a second she would leave Hiro alone. She was like his shadow" She chuckled.

Ichigo: "Ikuno! I didn't! That's not true!" I chuckle.

'So Ichigo had a thing for Hiro... And then there is Zero Two. What a mess it's going to be? I can't imagine and for sure I won't'.

Ichigo: "Oh, says miss 'I miss (Y/N)'" I blush and get surprised

'So, Ichigo is the one who doesn't let anyone mess with her like that. Good, that means it'll be fun'

Ryuko: "Ohh, please. I can live without him" I cross my arms and huff "It's just I choose not to" I said, making them giggle. "You and I are similar, Ichigo. Both you and I have someone who we know forever and we would stop the planet before we let them go" This confuses Ichigo.

Ichigo: "But, what does it mean?"

'Hmm... teach them now or just wait like it's in the plan' I look at the duo of girls 'Nah, another time'

Ryuko: "You'll have to wait and see for yourself, girl" I smile and look at Ikuno "What about you, Ikuno? Do you have someone like us?" She looks at the wall, blushes a little, and I think I saw her eyes dart toward Ichigo.

Ikuno: "No, I don't think so, Ryuko"

'Yeah, yeah. Don't you think I didn't notice it, bookworm'.

Ryuko: "So, let's talk. What do you want to know about piloting girls? I will try to answer my best" I hang my legs from the bed, sitting up. I swing them as girls ask their questions.

*(Y/N) POV*

Meanwhile, I, Hiro and Goro are discussing a grave matter

(Y/N): "There is no way"

Hiro: "I agree with (Y/N). It just seems... unnatural"

Goro: "Oh come on guys! It's my problem how I eat my cereal"

(Y/N) and Hiro: "But putting milk before them is wrong!"

(Y/N): "Milk is supposed to make flakes softer"

Goro: "I like them crunchy!"

Hiro: "I told you, you're the only one who eats them like that"

(Y/N): "Okay, let's agree to disagree. Even if it's a serious matter like this" I get on my bed and sit cross legged "Okay, I know you two want to. Ask anything. I will answer but I won't promise it's the truth"

Goro: "Well, Ichigo said you're a squad leader"

(Y/N): "Was supposed to be. Our squad got injured and is currently healing and remembering how to pilot. I and Ryuko are the only one who got out without a scratch. But... she doesn't like to talk about this, mainly because her sister got injured. She lost her memory and couldn't recognize either us or even her partner. We were supposed to be Squad 36"

'Let's see where that story will get us. We're like undercover agents. And it's partial truth to be fair '

Goro: "Yikes..."

(Y/N): "Yeah, but that's life. We have to move forward. Hiro, do you have anything to ask?"

Hiro: "You rode in both Strelizia and Heliconia" I nod "Is there any difference?" I nod again.

(Y/N): "Well, I and Ryuko were supposed to be partners since Garden, I feel... a little more while riding with her in Heliconia. She's also a little less athletic than Strelizia, but she makes up with pure power" I look outside the window "Now" I smirk and jump down, getting the nightstand in between two beds in the meanwhile "Come on, Goro. Let's see who is stronger" I put my right arm on the top "Or are you a chicken, not a man" Goro's pride took a hit there. He got his arm next to mine as Hiro makes sure we get a proper center.

Hiro: "I will count you down. Three" I and Goro look into each other's eyes, both determined to win "Two" We get our grips, squeezing both hands "One"

(Y/N): "Let the better one win"

Goro: "Let"

Hiro: "Go!"

Instantly we started pushing, Hiro squatted near the edge, playing the rule of the judge, making sure to check if either arm touched the top

(Y/N): "Hnnng! I told you Goro, you are strong" I try to overpower him without using much of my powers "But..."

Goro: "But? *groan*"

(Y/N): "I'm the storm that is approaching!"

A/N: "CUT! CUT! WRONG LINE!"

(Y/N): "I was... just getting started"

Goro: "Huh?" And with one motion I got his arm down, "Heh, I told you (Y/N)"

(Y/N): "Yeah, but you still pull off quite the show" I get the nightstand back, and we get into our beds "Night guys... see you tomorrow"

I closed my eyes and went to sleep

'Hmm... this bed is soo cozy'

*Time skip, next morning*

I wake up refreshed. It's been too long since I had a normal bed with a normal mattress and normal covers and pillows.

(Y/N): "*yawn* Morning Hiro... Morning Goro" I rub my sleepy eyes awake, not getting any response "Guys?" I look down to see both of them gone "Morning birds, I see" I chuckle, jump down from my bed and stretch a little before taking Neko from her hanger in the wardrobe "Morning Neko. How did you sleep?"

Neko: "*yawn* Could be better? The usual, (Y/N)?" I nod and soon I stood in my standard clothes.

(Y/N): "Nekketsu, you're the best, you know it?" I could see a slight pink below Neko's eyes.

Neko: "I know, but you can tell me more about it (Y/N). And stop using my full name! It's embarrassing and it sounds weird!" I chuckle.

(Y/N): "I won't, I won't. We should head down and eat some breakfast" I put my sneakers on and went downstairs, meeting Ryuko at the mezzanine. Her hair was a mess of red and black-bluish strands, and some bags under her eyes. She was sloppily dragging her legs from stair to stair, "Umm... Honey?" She looked at me, "You didn't sleep well?"

Ryuko: "Oh *yawn* what gave you this idea, *yawn* honeybun?" She leaned herself on me, looking at me, "Don't you *yawn* forgetting something?" I quickly remember, squat a little, and kissed her forehead.

(Y/N): "Good morning, Ryuko"

Ryuko: "Morning (Y/N)"

(Y/N): "So... any reason you look like a living death? The bed was too hard?"

Ryuko: "If you *yawn* need to know, it's Ichigo's and Ikuno's fault. Those two were asking me questions of all types. How's it to pilot Heliconia? What is the best way to connect? How are you as a stamen?"

(Y/N): "And what did you tell them?" I ask.

Ryuko: "The truth" She smirks and walks down the stairs

(Y/N): "Which means?"

Ryuko: "Girls' secret" She winked and we enter the mess hall. The first thing we see is Zero Two sitting at the same table we took yesterday, as she happily pours honey all over her steak.

Kokoro: "I wonder if she likes sweets"

Miku: "She's not a person. Not with those things on her head" We decided to let them know we are here.

(Y/N): "Good morning Squad 13" They all looked at us

Ichigo: "Oh, good morning, you two. You slept well?" She smiled, while Ryuko walks past her, trying to get her hair under control.

Ryuko: "You know well how it went, Ichigo. How can you be full of energy right now?"

Ichigo: "I guess I'm a morning person" We took a seat with Zero Two. I looked at her plate and burrow my eyebrows.

(Y/N): "Zero Two" the pink-haired girl stopped eating and looked at me, still holding the steak in her mouth

Zero Two: "Hmm?"

(Y/N): "I told you numerous times some things about modesty and table manners, didn't I?"

Zero Two: "Sowwy fwiend. Whon haffen aghain!" She spoke with her mouth full, while I shake my head, smiling.

(Y/N): "You're unreformable sometime, Zero" We took our seats and started eating. Zorome looks at me and Ryuko.

Zorome: "What're Reapers still doing here? Weren't they supposed to be with Dr.FranXX?"

(Y/N): "We got an order to stay here with Zero Two. Like it or not"

Ichigo: "Doctor's orders for them. They're staying with us. So Zorome, and Miku, you can be nicer to them. They're our saviors, you know" Zorome stands up from his chair and walks to our table, where he tries his luck with Zero Two.

Zorome: "Hey there! It was a real treat to watch your skills in action. I, Zorome the Great, shall graciously ride with you if you so desire" In response, Zero Two wipes her honey-covered hands on his uniform "What are you doing?! Aw, my Sunday best!" I and Ryuko laugh a little, while Miku gets annoyed.

(Y/N): "Maybe stay with your current partner, Zorome. Unless she's still willing to put up with you!" Meanwhile, Zero stood up, holding a jar of honey she walks up to the boys' table, finally sitting next to Hiro on his chair, making the black-haired boy blush a little

Zero Two: "This is really nice and sweet. Let's eat together, okay?" She then spills some honey on his breakfast, ruining it.

'Heh, this girl' I smile at Zero

Hiro: "Tell me" he gets Zero's attention, "Did I actually manage to pilot back then?" Zero looks at him, with a little surprise, which later turns into a smirk

Zero Two: "You sure did" She traces her finger along his jawline "You were incredible," She put the same finger on his lips "darling~"

And the mass confusion starts with Zero saying that word. I and Ryuko continue to eat as nothing happen

Squad 13: "D-? Darling?"

Miku: "What's that mean?"

Kokoro: "Beats me"

Goro: "Do you know?" he asks Futoshi

Futoshi: "Doesn't sound like food"

Zorome: "Hey! Don't ignore me!"

As they talk, Zorome tries to clean his shirt. Meanwhile, Hero starts smiling as Zero still has her arm around his neck. Then, Nana comes inside the room and starts clapping her hands getting our attention

Nana: "Okay, keep it down, kids"

Kokoro: "Nana!" Nana stops in the middle of the room and clears her throat

Nana: "I will be your caretaker, just like I was in Garden. Ape HQ has assigned me to the 13th Plantation Corps. My name is Nana"

(Y/N): "We know Nana, and kids probably know it too"

Nana: "Oh, hush you, (Y/N). As I was saying, I'm looking forward to your cooperation"

Goro: "Yes, we got lucky!" Zorome meanwhile tries to peep at the caretaker, before I grab his jacket's collar

(Y/N): "No. Bad Parasite. Timeout"

Zorome: "Hey! What gives?!" I ignore him, "Stop ignoring me!" Ichigo then took Nana's attention

Ichigo: "Nana?"

Nana: "What is it, Ichigo?"

Ichigo: "Is Zero Two gonna stay with us? What about Ryuko and (Y/N)?"

Nana: "We're awaiting orders from HQ on what to do with Zero Two" Ichigo glares at Zero, offering a plate full of honey to Hiro "But in general she won't be working with you guys. As for the Reapers. Both (Y/N) and Ryuko are under orders from the Doctor to stay with her. If she's moved, then they are going with her unless Doctor says otherwise. They won't be working with you either unless an emergency occurs" Ichigo then looks at me and Ryuko, and gets her head lower

Goro: "So, unless Doctor says otherwise, Ryuko and (Y/N) are on the run?" Nana nodded. Some of the folks seemed saddened.

(Y/N): "Hey guys, get your heads up. I'm sure, if anything, we will meet again. Heck, maybe Doctor will move us here? Who knows?" I shrug and Nana notices Zero invading Hiro's personal space

Nana: "Come. You're seating over there"

Zero Two: "Aw, but this table felt more comfortable" She whined, stood up, and started walking back to our table.

Hiro: "W-Wait!" he stood up, "Hey, Zero Two!" Zero stops, "Let me ride in your FranXX again. There is something I want to be sure of"

Nana: "That isn't for you to decide. Papa and the rest will give you your orders in due time, too. Sit tight until then, all right?" Zero walks out.

Zorome: "Huh? Papa will? Give orders to him? Why?"

(Y/N): "Heh, you're jealous of him or what?" We stood up and walk away.

Ryuko: "Thank you for the meal" We left the mess hall and follow Nana to the elevator

Nana: "I don't think you should be going with us, kids. I have to ask you to stay with Squad 13. After they're done with their breakfast, please meet me and Hachi in the commanding center"

(Y/N): "The finish for their startup ritual, huh?" Nana nods, "You want us to ease it up for them, give some advice, etc.?"

Nana: "Pretty much, (Y/N). I also have some things to do involving you two too"

'Huh, involving us?'

Ryuko: "Well, I guess that's okay? Not like Ichigo and Ikuno already asked me about that last night or anything" she scoffs.

Nana: "I'm glad you're up to the task, Reapers. I will see you two. Bye!" and she closed the front doors behind herself, leaving with Zero

(Y/N): "Well..." Ryuko sighs.

Ryuko: "I will get them" She gets back to the mess hall "Alright, Squad 13!" She gets their attention, "After breakfast, you're to be ready for your first drill in a real FranXX. I and (Y/N) will meet you outside in ten minutes" She leaves the room, grabs my arm and we get outside.

We wait about four minutes for the first pair to get out, nearly catching us in the middle of a kiss. It was Ichigo and Goro. Soon after, everyone plus Hiro are present and we walk towards the elevator.

As we lead Squad 13, Ichigo comes near me and Ryuko

Ichigo: "Ryuko, I know I tormented you last night with this question" Ryuko growls, exhausted, "But is there any other way to improve our connection?"

Ryuko: "Ichigo, take a look at me, and (Y/N)" She did "Remember what I told you about us, everything you know about us two"

Ichigo: "You two know each other since you were in the Garden... You two trust each other much, and you two are important to each other. You have only a two-digit difference between your codes and... We have to trust our partner, you have to be honest with him or her. And knowing them for a long time makes it easier, right?" Ryuko smiles.

Ryuko: "Precisely" Zorome was next

Zorome: "Hey, (Y/N)! You have any 'tips and tricks' for us boys?"

(Y/N): "Just relax and don't overthink it. There is no worse mistake than letting it get to your head" We boarded the elevator and I pressed the button to the commanding center and later to the changing rooms, "I and Ryuko will be present with Nana and Hachi in there. So if you want to ask us anything, and I mean anything FranXX related, you just need to let us know"

Ryuko: "And don't think we're here to laugh at your flukes and mistakes. They're a part of the learning experience as FranXX pilots. We have to go the same way. We offer you, Squad 13, what we haven't gotten when we had our first drill' Soon the elevator stops at the commanding center "And remember, sometimes connecting would take a long time, don't worry if you don't activate your FranXX at first try"

(Y/N): "We will see you all after the drill. Ichigo" The blue-haired girl looked at me, "You're a squad leader, remember about that. Don't be afraid to make orders. And don't be afraid of making mistakes. You can't make mistakes only when you don't do anything" I get my fist to her. She recognized the gesture, get her fist up, and bumps it with mine with a smile.

Ichigo: "Thanks (Y/N)" I nod and turn to Goro

(Y/N): "Goro, as a stamen of the leading FranXX you need to make sure Delphinium is safe so Ichigo can make orders for the rest" He nods, and I then look at them, Ryuko gets next to me "We wish you godspeed, young cadets" I and Ryuko salute at them "We will see you again later, with you returning as Parasites of Squad 13" Nearly everyone in Squad 13 saluted, with Mitsuru being the only exception

Ryuko: "Now, to your FranXX. Show us what you can achieve! Don't disappoint us!" The elevator door closes, and we can hear Nana giggling "Huh, what's so funny, Nana"

Nana: "Oh, it's nothing, children. You just behave like older siblings for the kids you met not even a day ago. You would make a good substitution for me, Ryuko" she looked at me "While (Y/N) would be a great deputy for Hachi" I and Hachi look at each other, with a deadpanned expression.

(Y/N) and Hachi: "I don't think so" We looked at each other, and when I smile, Hachi still has a stoical expression on his face, but the corners of his mouth moved a bit upwards. Nana is smiling all the way.

Nana: "But it's nice to see you are looking after them. I was right to take a liking to you two" I and Ryuko get a bit embarrassed "That's why I and Hachi send a request to Dr.FranXX to let you two stay here as a part of Squad 13"

Reapers: "HUH?!"

(Y/N): "No way..."

Ryuko: "You've got to be kidding..." Nana looked worried.

Nana: "You two won't want to stay?"

Ryuko: "No, that's not it, Nana. We're just surprised, that's all. But why?"

Hachi: "Having you two here would be beneficial for Plantation's 13 defensive forces. After some talk with Nana and seeing your interactions with the rest of the children, we decided to request your transfer"

Ryuko: "That's..."

(Y/N): "It's..."

Reapers: "AWESOME!" I and Ryuko grab each other's hands and look into other's eyes.

Ryuko: "Yahoo! Finally, a normal Plantation to stay!"

(Y/N): "No more working on the FranXX in the middle of the desert!"

Ryuko: "No more sleeping in Heliconia's cockpit! And warm food! But... what if our friends came back?"

(Y/N): "Nana, what if..."

Nana: "There is the bad news... Doctor told us they're not ready, and won't be ready any time soon. I'm sorry kids"

(Y/N): "But at least they are alive..." We looked at the monitors, "Nana, Zero Two would stay too, right? If not, then you know we'll be going with her"

Nana: "There is a chance she would be allowed to stay, but the HQ has the final decision" We hear some moans, and then Miku screams

I looked to the side, seeing both Delphinium stats steadily going up, stopping at 102 for both Ichigo and Goro. Soon, Delphinium's face flashes in two blue and orange X's, only to change into her normal face. The clamps around her release a hiss, and soon they open, allowing her to get out of the garage. Following Delphinium, the three remaining FranXX get out and stand in line.

(Y/N): "Great job Squad 13"

Ryuko: "Now start easy, don't want to get your first battle scar during the training" We chuckle

Argentea then pointed at Delphinium, and Zorome's voice came from her speakers

Zorome: "I was the first to finish, you know?" he boasts, "Got that, double-digits?! Don't forget that"

Goro: "You're in a good mood, I see"

Chlorophytum: "Why to compete with each other?"

Argentea then started doing some flips, but slips on the last one. Thankfully, Delphinium caught them.

Delphinium: "Are you okay?"

Argentea: "Thanks..."

Ryuko: "When it comes to piloting, the stamen has the initiative when it comes to moving. You boys need to think if the pistil you're connected to can keep up with your input"

Hachi: "Get in line with Delphinium and go"

Squad 13: "Roger"

Squad 13 started running around Plantation. Nana soon gets a phone call.

Nana: "A startup trial in an actual FranXX?" I looked at her display, showing Hiro's profile.

'Well, looks like the rumors about Hiro piloting Strelizia travel fast' I smirk.

Nana: "We will start to prepare the area" she hung up, "Good grief..."

(Y/N): "Yeah... I think I will stay a Parasite... no early retirement for you two, Nana, Hachi" I and Ryuko chuckle.

Ryuko: "Same"

Nana: "Yet, you supported them. I'm thankful for your help, (Y/N), Ryuko. I hope Doctor soon answers our request"

(Y/N): "Someone wants us to stay~"

Nana: "I won't lie, I like both of you. You are still Parasites, and I took every one of you as my responsibility"

Ryuko: "Yeah... no need to worry about us too much, Nana" She looks at the map showing the local area, "When we traveled all around the continent, we slept on Heliconia's floor. (Y/N) was repairing her and Strelizia in the middle of the desert and the main source of mine, (Y/N) and Zero Two food were rations and things Plantations we visited gave for our journey. We stopped in Plantations only to refuel, get some more serious repairs, and restock our food and parts supply"

Nana: "I read both your files, thank you Ryuko" she smiled "But as you said, there are more pros to staying here than cons, right?"

Ryuko: "And we're grateful, Nana. We appreciate your hospitality" I look at the cameras outside, seeing Squad 13 still zooming around.

(Y/N): "By the way, how old are they?"

Nana: "Most of the Parasites start their adventure at the age of fourteen."

Ryuko: "Four years younger than us... they are still kids..."

Nana: "It's another reason I want you two to stay here. You two would be role models to them. Someone to support them in harder times... you know" I and Ryuko nod, knowing what possibly she could mean.

'No way. Everyone here stays alive. We won't allow it' Ryuko looked into my eyes with the same determined expression as I. She nods, and I nod too, 'Good thing Blueberry thinks the same'.

Ryuko: "I hope it won't be needed"

Nana: "You and I, Ryuko. You two can return to the boarding house. Kids should be back soon" With that I and Ryuko stood up, and salute at them as Nana and Hachi salute us too.

*timeskip, the backyard of the boarding house, Plantation 13's Bird Cage*

After Squad 13 returned from their first drill in a real FranXX, we were waiting for them, congratulating them on finally being promoted to Parasites. As for now, at Zorome and Futoshi's insistence, I'm in the backyard with them. To kill time, we decided to play with Zorome's football. We do some tricks with our legs and are passing it one to another.

Futoshi: "Do you think we will be able to fight like that one day?" I pass him the ball, and he gets it on his chest and starts doing tricks with it, finally passing it to Zorome "Like (Y/N) and Ryuko or that FranXX Hiro was piloting during the Klaxosaur's attack" Zorome catches the ball with his head and gets it down.

Zorome: "Say what? Just so you know, that doesn't count as piloting?" He pass the ball to me and I caught it on my chest, later getting it on my head, "There is no way that looser could pilot a FranXX"

(Y/N): "There is no need to insult anyone, Zorome. And Hiro piloted a FranXX. I was the one who was getting him out of Strelizia" I pass the ball to Futoshi

Zorome: "Yeah, right... You actually believe a washout like him" Futoshi passed the ball back to me and the first thing I did was kick it full force at Zorome's face. He falls on the grass.

(Y/N): "I told you to behave. Zorome, Hiro is a part of your squad, like it or not. I don't know why you have a reason to behave like that to him, but we will need to think about resolving it sooner than later" I offered him a hand to get him up, but he slaps it away "C'mon men up a little"

Futoshi: "(Y/N) may have a point. Papa has taken an interest in Hiro" Then Mitsuru spoke from near the pillar.

Mitsuru: "I heard that pistil called Zero Two has a special ability to pilot FranXX all by herself" he turned to us, "You saw that four-legged form, didn't you? So technically, Hiro has only been taken along for a ride" Zorome pointed his arm at me and Futoshi

Zorome: "See? I will never accept that he did it before us"

(Y/N): "Oh how wrong you are Mitsuru" I chuckle, "Believe me when I say it boys, but I saw that metal lion a thousand times. It's called Stampede mode. It's when Pistil wants to operate a FranXX without stamen. And it's extremely dangerous"

Zorome: "How do you know that (Y/N)?"

(Y/N): "I saw what it did to Ryuko... I only lost consciousness for five minutes, but she decided to keep going, to kill that Klaxosaur. She was moving on an animal instinct. Only after I rammed her off her platform, I was able to stop it. If I didn't, and she would still be in that state, she could seriously injure or even kill herself" I look at them "When you go into Stampede Mode as many times as Zero did, you're getting used to the pain. She's like an animal and will attack anything which threatens her. However, when Hiro DID get with her into Strelizia, she turned to her human form. And it's only possible if BOTH stamen and pistil are connected"

Zorome: "That still doesn't prove it was Hiro with her. I will believe it when I see it" Just then Hiro gets back from his training session. I wave to him hello. He wants to reply, but Zorome hits him with the ball.

Zorome: "Do you think you're hot stuff, huh?" Hiro shields himself at the last second, "Bingo! I'm the best! Sorry about that, I expected you to dodge. Were you cranking yourself up in a training unit again, huh?" He gets closer to Hiro "That's perfect for you, a wuss who just hitched a ride with a girl!" Hiro wants to grab his towel but stops. They get into each other faces, "What? You wanna go?"

(Y/N): "Hiro. Zorome. Don't you two dare to start a fight" I warn them.

Hiro: "(Y/N) and Ryuko said I piloted, Zero Two said I piloted" Zorome pushes himself forward

Zorome: "The real thing ain't anything like training units!"

Hiro: "Once I get another chance, I will show you I can pilot!"

Zorome: "Challenge accepted!" And they started fighting. I run to them, trying to separate them.

(Y/N): "Oi! You two quit that, you little idiots!" Just then, Ichigo and Goro enter the backyard.

Ichigo: "Hey! What're you doing?" With their help, I'm able to separate them. Ichigo gets Hiro away, while I and Goro hold Zorome" Knock it off"

Zorome: "Don't get in the way!" He nearly slips our grip, but we still hold him.

Goro: "Enough!"

(Y/N): "Calm down, you imbecile. We won't set you free until you do" Ichigo meanwhile calms Hiro, that is until her and mine communicator rings out "Huh? Ichigo, see who-

Ichigo: "It's Nana"

*Time skip, Plantation's 13 Briefing Center*

Nana: "Everyone is here, we can start, Hachi" Squad 13, I and Ryuko and Hiro, and Zero Two are sitting in front of Hachi and Nana

Hachi: "Tomorrow we will begin with mock battles. It'll be as close to actual combat as we can get now"

Nana: "We've already decided on the pairs. Delphinium will face Genista while Argentea will face Chlorphytum" Zorome got his hand up.

Hachi: "Yes, Code 666?" Zorome pointed at me and Ryuko.

Zorome: "Will Ryuko and (Y/N) also take a part?"

Nana: "No. Reapers will not participate in the mock battles"

Zorome: "Oh, come on!" He groans, "I want a challenge! Why can't we go against them?!" Miku then glared at him.

Miku: "Zorome, shut up. You'll get us in trouble" she hissed.

Zorome: "Hey, back me up a little!" I and Ryuko chuckle, "What's so funny?"

Ryuko: "So, let me get this straight" She looks at the blonde "You want us" She points at herself and me "Spar against you and Miku?" she points at them "Despite the thing we're one, older, two, more experienced, three we're special forces and know any technique there is to fight in a FranXX? You want to end in a coffin or a hospital be-" Zorome cuts her off.

Zorome: "So I understand you two are afraid? Oh, boo hoo" My eye twitch a little "Seems like Reapers are just a bunch of chickens" Miku was glaring at him, she looked at me and Ryuko. Ryuko was grinding her teeth while steam was coming from my head.

Miku: "Zorome, shut up! You are not helping, you're just making them-"

(Y/N): "So... you want a challenge, Zorome..." I close the distance to them. Zorome knowing what he's done gulps quickly and hides behind Miku "Miku, if you would be so kind, please move, I have to speak with your partner" Miku moves aside as I get near Zorome. I grab his jacket and pull him up, "You want to spar with Reapers?!" I shout, "I asked you a QUESTION! Do you want to spar with me and Ryuko?! Then YOU.ARE.ON!" I dropped him off "Tomorrow afternoon, right after supper. Argentea vs Heliconia. Nana, can it be done?" I asked the caretaker and the commander.

Nana: "If both parties agree, and Zorome was so eager to"

Ryuko: "Ohoho. We are so in!" She smiles devilishly at the duo, "Miku, you don't need to worry. We will try not to hurt you... too much" She ends with a sweet smile, while we get back to sit on the other end of the room. Zero Two then chuckles and turns to Zorome

Zero Two: "You have no idea what've you done. Good luck against them when they're angry, you'll need it"

Nana: "Okay kids. Argentea will face Heliconia while Delphinium will face Genista then. Hiro, you also will be taking part in mock battles"

Hachi: "Depending on how you do, we are considering promoting you to parasite" Hiro gets shocked

Goro: "Grats!"

(Y/N): "Congrats Hiro"

Ryuko: "You got it, Hiro!" We cheer for him, as he smiles at us.

Hiro: "Thanks, guys"

Hachi: "Pick your partner"

Zero Two: "I will do it" We look at her

Hiro: "Zero Two... "

Zero Two: "I mean, you are my darling"

'Oh Zero Two, you're playing with his heart like a toy. He'll remember you in no time' Then Ichigo got her hand up.

Ichigo: "One moment... Let me be his partner.

Hiro: "Ichigo?

Ichigo: "Zero Two doesn't belong to our squad"

(Y/N): "Not yet at least..." I murmur under my nose.

Ichigo: "Also, if you are only measuring Hiro's aptitude, it should work with me as his partner, too" They started to talk about it while I and Ryuko whisper to each other

Ryuko: "I was right. Ichigo has a crush on Hiro" she whispers "My intuition is still good as it was 150 years ago" she smirks.

(Y/N): "Your 'intuition'? Like the time you were gathering courage for 4 months before you finally decided to ask me out on a date?" she pinches my arm, "Or when-"

Ryuko: "Not another word. But I think I know the whole picture now. Ichigo and Hiro grew up together, and she was always like Hiro's shadow. Then you have Zero Two and Hiro who in about 70% is her Darling"

(Y/N): "If this keeps up, we will end up in some serious fuckening. Like Mexican telenovela"

Ryuko: "It won't be that bad, right?" She looks at me, "Right?"

(Y/N): "It's time to introduce them to a little lesson about their feelings" Ryuko nodded, and we turn back to Nana and Hachi

Nana: "Zero Two, HQ hasn't authorized the use of Strelizia. So Hiro will have to take the test with someone from his squad"

Zero Two: "Boo. That sucks" She stood up and starts walking to Ichigo "My injuries haven't healed completely yet, anyway" She bows down to Ichigo's level. Said Strawberry holds her left cheek.

Hiro: "Wait, what?"

Zero Two: "I will let you have him this time. Go for it" She grabs Ichigo's right shoulder "Take care of my Darling, okay?" she gets to leave, as Ichigo looks angry at her.

Nana: "Then, you'll handle it, right, Ichigo?"

Ichigo: "Sure" Hiro stands to go after her, but doesn't move

Hachi: "Then that's all. Argentea vs Heliconia and Delphinium vs Genista. Mock battles will take place tomorrow at 1800. Dismissed"

(Y/N): "Zorome" the blond looks at me "Challenging us was your biggest mistake. But as we said" I and Ryuko smirk.

Ryuko: "Mistakes make us stronger" We look at Miku, "Good luck tomorrow, Miku. You will need it with this moron behind the steer" I and Ryuko leave the room, as Miku's small laugh fills it.
