ReaderXHidan - Immortal Rejection
“No.” You answer right away. It’s getting closer to Valentine’s day and this is the eighth time the idiot has tried to give you the severed head today. You don’t exactly see that as romantic…at all.
“Why the f--- not, [Name]?” Hidan demands, glaring at you angrily. In his right hand, he holds the pale, bloodless severed head. So far, he’s tried to give you an arm, a leg, two hands, and now it’s a head. All of them most likely from different bodies. You shiver at the thought of how he got them.
“Where did you get the idea that I would want a severed body part for a Valentine’s gift, Hidan?” You demand, putting your hands on your hips. Then your resolve to know vanishes at his possible responses. “Actually, I’m not sure I want to know.”
You turn and briskly walk down the hallway towards your room. It’s only your third week in the Akatsuki, and so far, it’s not going well. You’ve made friends, yes, but you’ve also made a few enemies. Zetsu doesn’t exactly get along with you, and neither does Kakuzu.
Before Hidan can catch up to you, you close your door and lock it, falling back onto your bed. With a sigh, you close your eyes and shut out Hidan’s constant, rather aggressive request to open your door and let him in. But with that guy, you know it would be a bad idea. He has a very sexual life that revolves around women and his god, Jashin. For him to be immortal only makes it worse. It means you can’t kill him to make him shut up. Even his head still talks after being separated from his body.
“Go away, Hidan!” You shout before covering your head in a pillow. Five minutes later, he gives up and leaves. Though you don’t know how long that will last. Tossing the pillow aside, you go over to your room’s only window. It’s raining outside again, not that it really matters, it’s already nighttime.
Too bad, you wanted to get some training done while you still held the strength from your annoyance. Opening your door enough to poke your head out and look both ways for Hidan, you sigh with relief when he’s nowhere to be seen. You silently curse Leader-sama for making you take the room in the middle of the hallway.
You stealthily dash down the hallway to the end, where there’s a staircase, one side going up, one side going down. There are at least four or five floors, but you’re not allowed up on the top levels unless Leader-sama calls you up to his office, which is on the fourth floor.
“[Name]-chan! Does [Name]-chan want to play with Tobi?” Tobi asks, popping up out of nowhere and making you jump. You could’ve sworn he was on a mission, so how come he’s back already?
As if reading your mind, “Tobi was sent back to base because Deidara-sempai was angry. Sasori-san went instead.”
You nod, completely understanding how Tobi must’ve annoyed Deidara. It’s rather easy actually. You continue walking, with Tobi at you side, bugging you to play some kind of game with him. You shoot him a glare, and he backs off, but not for long.
“Tobi is a good boy, can Tobi have a cookie?” Tobi whines, giving you his best pleading look with his mask still on. With a sigh, you finally agree, knowing he won’t stop bugging you until you do.
Thirty minutes later, the kitchen smells like baked cookies and Tobi is perfectly content, sitting at the table with a plate of cookies and some milk. You watch as he eats, but you really don’t get how he can eat like that, with his mask still on…
“Hey, has anyone seen [Name]?” You hear a familiar voice ask. Despite what everyone says, you know that Hidan doesn’t swear as much as everyone thinks, only when he’s angry or annoyed.
You duck under the table, not wanting to confront Hidan right now. Tobi is about to open his big mouth when you grab his ankles, and pull him under the table with you.
“Does [Name]-chan not want Hidan to find [Name]-chan?” Tobi whispers in his annoyingly loud voice. You glare at Tobi and try to cover his mask, not that it will do any good. But before you can do anything, Tobi jumps out from under the table, and skips out of the kitchen.
“Tobi!” You whisper-shout. “Get your butt back in here!”
“Hidan! [Name]-chan is not in the kitchen.” You hear Tobi say. You face palm, knowing that the kitchen is now the first place Hidan will look. Just as you suspected, the kitchen door swings open and you watch as Hidan looks around the kitchen, walking around the table, yet not looking under it.
Without waiting for him to, you scramble out from under the table and out the swinging door, into the living room with Hidan calling after you. “Hey, [Name], wait! I just want to talk!”
“Not now.” You call back, not daring to look back as you already know he’s hot on your heels. You dash up the stairs and dodge around the shark swordsman, Kisame. You hear Hidan crash into Kisame, followed by both parties swearing loudly.
You barely make it up onto the third floor, which has the bedrooms. However, you know you won’t make it to your room before he catches you, so you quickly dodge into the first room on the right. You slam the door and lean against it, fumbling for the lock. Once you’re sure he can’t get in, you slide down to the ground and allow yourself to look around. You only know where Kisame and Itachi’s room is, right next to yours. You just don’t know the other rooms.
Bags of what looks like money on one side. It’s the clean side. The other side has blood stains, symbols, and a few posters. It only takes a second for you to realize that this is the worst possible room for you to enter. Of course, you run right into the room of the guy you’re running from.
“Crap.” You whisper, hiding your face in your hands.
“Open the door! I need to f---ing talk to you and you’re in my room!” Hidan bangs on the door. Not wanting to lock the jerk out of his own room, even if it means the price of your surrender, you unlock the door and open it. You try to squeeze passed Hidan, but his arm wraps around your waist and pulling you back into his room. He effortlessly tosses you onto his bed, and closes the door. He towers over you now, his arms crossed.
“What do you want, Hidan?” You ask, crossing your arms and glaring at him. He laughs at your act at trying to be defiant. You both know that you’re a little scared to be alone with the Jashinist, who’s known for killing anyone he doesn’t like.
Hidan turns away, realizing that he has to answer. He looks almost embarrassed, which is impossible for him. “Why don’t you like my f---ing gifts?”
“Why the heck would I? Normal people give chocolates and flowers, or little paper hearts for Valentine’s day, not severed limbs. Sure, we’re not normal. But I’d rather not get a severed head for Valentine’s day.” You reply, closing your eyes so you can calm down.
“Then what the h--- do you want, [Name]?” He asks, sighing loudly with displeasure.
“…I don’t know. All I can tell you is that the gift can’t be something you can buy or make. It’s something that comes from here.” You say, tapping the spot over your heart.
Hidan, not getting it, looks at you funny. However, now your chest has gotten his attention, that’s for sure. With a huff, you stand up and storm out of the room, annoyed with his reaction. Okay, so you do kind of like him, but only a little! He’s too annoying for you to feel anything real towards him…right?
“Hey, wait! [Name], what’s that supposed to f---ing mean?” He demands.
“If you don’t know, then that means you aren’t right to be my Valentine.” You snap, ignoring him until you get to your room. He gives up right away, knowing how stubborn you can be when you’re angry. It isn’t long before you manage to fall asleep.
~'~'~ ~'~'~
You sit up and stretch, yawning. With a large sigh, you get out of bed and get dressed for…whatever it is that you have to do today. You don’t have any missions, nor do you have any chores. You’re not even sure if you should leave the safety of your room since it’s inevitable that you cross paths with the Jashinist again.
“[Name], what are you doing, un?” Deidara asks, coming up from behind you. You jump a foot in the air, surprised by the blond’s appearance.
“W-whatever do you mean, Deidara?” You stutter, trying to seem inconspicuous as you put your back to the wall so you can face him.
“You’re ducking behind plants, un.” Deidara states, gesturing toward the plant that your currently behind.
“Oh, right, that. I’m…inspecting the plants! Zetsu asked me.” You reply.
“No, we didn’t.” Zetsu says, happening to walk by at the same time you speak. He continues walking, turning the corner to go downstairs.
Deidara gives you a look, and you relent. “Hidan hasn’t given up yet.”
“That’s it, un?” He asks, surprised. When you nod, he turns on his heels and leaves you standing there. He’s not really interested in your personal life, he just thought you were trying to avoid Tobi.
Rolling your eyes, you go downstairs, following close behind Zetsu until you’re outside and in the training area. You have nothing to do, so training is the best idea now that it’s stopped raining. You attack the moving wooden dummies with all you’ve got, trying to get as much anger out as you can. Stupid Hidan made the anger you hid for so long come back.
“You’re d--- hot when you’re angry.” A familiar and unwanted voice says from your right. You’d been so distracted that you hadn’t noticed Hidan join you.
Sitting under a tree, he looks very content watching you. To tell the truth, you think he’s kind of handsome sitting in the shade with his legs stretched out and his hands behind his head. You also notice that he’s not wearing his cloak, only his pants. Despite him usually having his cloak open or half off, it’s still different to see him without it completely.
“What do you want now?” You ask, looking away to keep from blushing.
Instead of replying, he asks a question of his own. “Why do you hate me?”
“You’re obnoxious, loud, and swear a lot.” You answer, attacking the dummy again, but with less aggression. You watch Hidan out of the corner of your eye. He looks deep in thought, which is strange.
“How would I get you to like me?” He asks, his expression is bored, if not a little scary. But his eyes say he’s genuinely curious.
“Spend a day walking around the base in only your underwear.” You answer after a moment. It was meant to be sarcastic, but Hidan didn’t get that part. He gives you a flirtatious grin.
“Oh, really? You want to see me in my underwear, huh?” He grins, seeming to be very pleased with your response. He stands up and begins to pull off his pants when you stop him, grabbing his hands to keep him from completing his action.
“I-I meant that to be a joke, you idiot. Don’t actually take off your pants!” You say, out of breath from exasperation. Okay, so you did kind of want to see him in his underwear, but not like this.
“Then what the f--- do you want me to do?” He demands, not bothering to take his hands back from where you pinned them to his sides. He leans closer to you, irritated.
“I don’t know, okay?” You ask, irritated as well. You pull your hands back when you feel a sizzle of an electricity going down your spine. However, he doesn’t let you break the connection so easily. He takes your hands in one of his and pulls you toward him.
His kiss is heated and much like a bug zapper. However, there’s nothing painful about it. His tongue slips into your mouth, and you let it. This is so wonderful, you think in wonderment.
When he pulls away, you’re breathless and wanting more, which he is happy to comply. Your hands comb through his silver hair, your body pressed hard against his. His hands capturing your hips, afraid that if he lets go, you’ll leave.
Ten minutes later, you’re both lying on the ground, side by side, not too far from the training area. You’re resting your head on his right shoulder and he’s holding you close. Your lips are slightly swollen, but still tingling with the electricity his touch gives you. He sneezes when the wind blows your [h/c] hair into his face. Not romantic, but cute none-the-less. You giggle.
You two stay in silence until you decide to break the silence. “I don’t hate you, you know. I never did.”
He turns his head to look at you. “Then why did you f---ing reject me so many times?”
“I was afraid you didn’t feel the same way about me as I felt about you.” You answer, staring up at the tree which is providing shadow from the morning sunlight.
“And do you d--- feel about me, [Name]?” Hidan asks, following your line of sight, refusing to look at you until you answer.
“I’ll only tell you, if you tell me. On the count of three, you tell me how you feel, and I’ll tell you how I feel, got it?” You ask, not wanting to make him uncomfortable with your answer.
“Fine.” He grumbles.
“Three…two…o-one.”
“I love you.” You both say in unison. Both of you jerk your heads to look at each other and end up hitting each other’s heads. You both sit up, holding your heads. Hidan makes you drop your hands to inspect your bump. He rubs the angry, red bump, sending a zap of feeling into your body.
“You love me?” You ask, worried you heard wrong.
“F--- yeah!” He exclaims, cupping your face in his hands. “Ever since I first laid eyes on you.”
“R-really?” A smile creeps onto your face. “I love you, too!”
You hug him hard, not wanting to let him go. He pulls away, making you a little disappointed. That is, until his lips meet yours.
“Will you be my f---ing Valentine, now?” He asks, letting you catch your breath a minute later.
“How could I say no?” You reply.
~Added Ending~
“How did you finally figure out what I wanted?” You ask Hidan that night as you’re curled up in his bed.
“I asked Konan. She gave me some very d--- confusing answer.” Hidan replies, his body pressed against your back, his arms wrapped around you.
“Okay? But did you figure it out later?” You ask, curious.
“F--- no. I’m still confused.” He says, kissing the back of your neck.
“So, in other words, you don’t know what I wanted you to do for my Valentine’s gift?” You ask, your voice becoming monotone.
“Not even a little.” He says, not concerned at all. Not like he should be. You do love him after all and don’t plan on leaving him any time soon.
