Song: Not So Bad

Note: The songs I write and post on here are random and with little to no editing.  They will most likely be unfinished. This one is. Things I come up with in my spare time.

Parents watch with pride,

As their child crosses the street.

An untied shoelace,

Trails behind his feet.

Fifth grade has begun, but this child is far from done.

For all the warnings, all the caring,

Yes these parents watch with pride,

As their child walks toward a path,

From which they may die.

All the stress with school,

Somehow doing drugs is cool.

No one can say no,

No just walking out,

They've got you now they've hooked you,

Your drawn in towards the mouth.

It's sixth grade now, he can do it on his own.

So his parents stand and watch him with pride,

As he checks out his new phone.

So his parents stand and watch him with pride,

As he parades down this deathly drive.

All the stress with school,

Somehow drugs are cool.

No one can say no,

No just walking out.

They've got you now they've hooked you,

You're drawn in towards the mouth.

Eighth grade comes rolling along,

His self-consciousness is growing,

And his parents have noticed something is wrong.

The procrastination king now,

More than he's ever been,

His parents aren't quite sure how,

He keeps letting all of his friends in.

His teachers all are worried,

And they tell him as they must,

"Son, you don't have to be in a hurry,

Please just learn to trust,

That all of your accomplishments,

Are worth more than any delinquent's 'dust.'"

The son still isn't in any hurry,

And the parents are not quite ready to worry,

So they watch from afar with pride,

As their son first learns to really lie.

All the stress with school,

Somehow doing drugs is cool.

No one can say no,

No just walking out.

They've got you now they've hooked you,

You're pulled in towards the mouth.

High school is here,

Yet no one cheers,

Though their son has yet to succumb.

Drugs are sold behind the greenhouse,

The older kids are drinking rum.

This a good school, they say,

Like kids aren't smoking every day.

But one thing makes it better than anywhere.

Here, we have people that really care.

Not yet found his music,

Not yet read his book.

No friends he can count on,

Not with his popular look.

Appearances must be accounted for,

This he truly believed.

So what are the cool kids doing these days?

Well, my friend, they are smoking weed.

So his parents stand beside him with pride,

Unaware of the secret he's trying to hide.

All the stress with school,

Somehow taking drugs is cool.

No one can say no,

No just walking out.

They've got you now they've hooked you,

You're drawn in towards the mouth.

Junior year, almost done here,

The torture has only begun.

He has heavier stuff now, didn't you hear?

To everyone else, he's won.

His grades have steadily been steadily dropping,

Fully suspended twice,

He should have seen it coming.

That full ride to college would have been nice.

Harder and harder to concentrate,

His temperature is on the rise.

Still his parents support him,

With slightly deflating pride.

Oblivious to his problem,

The poison slowly killing him from inside.

All the stress with school,

Somehow doing drugs is cool.

No one can say no,

No just walking out.

They've got you now they've hooked you,

It makes you want to scream out loud.

Senior year is here.

College could be here.

He's losing all control,

Struggling in a bottomless hole.

A friend tells him, 'hey you need help,'

But has to leave to heed the bell.

Teachers all have noticed,

Counselor informed.

The parents now are gathered,

Here comes a rising storm.

Child confronted, he's too stressed,

Takes cover at a party,

Contemplates a pack of meth.

Well meth rhymes with death, Haven't you figured it out?

So take the pack they dare him,

Or will you chicken out?

He already pushed his parents concerns aside,

No one he cares about, still on his mind!

Well he looks around, and his crush is hardly blinking,

I'm in to far, dammit!

So he takes the dare, thinking,

Oh one more drug can't hurt me, can it?!

All the stress with school,

Somehow doing drugs is cool.

No one can say no,

No just walking out.

They've got you now they've hooked you,

You're drawn in towards the mouth.

And the last thing they hear as they fall to the ground,

That annoying, repetitive, irrevocable sound,

Oh we warned you,

But we'll still love you...

And the next day they'll wake up in a hospital somewhere,

Apologize, say I'm really really sorry 'bout the dare...

An' they'll turn their guns back into hands..

Real time, all time, parents. man...
