Saying that there are only 2 genders is like saying people can either have a cat or a dog.

Some people just have a dog, some people just have a cat. Some people have both, some have none. Some sometimes have a dog/a cat. There are people who don't have either, but have fish, or a rabbit.

Nobody says you can only have a cat or a dog. That's weird.
