[RvB x Halo AU OC] Reflecting and Regretting

Carolina and Epsilon we're just sitting near the edge off a cliff as the Reds and Blues go about their daily lives, whilst not having to deal with Carolina. Carolina sighs which made Epsilon concern.

Epsilon: Carolina. You okay?

Carolina: Yeah. Just thinking about things.

Epsilon: Like what? The Reds and Blues are doing just fine. What else?

???: Project Freelancer?

Out of the blue, a man in armour walked towards Carolina and then proceeded to just sit down next to her.

Carolina: Finn? What are you doing here?

Finn: Thought you needed some help. I got you covered.

Epsilon: How'd you know it was "that"?

Finn: Of all the things that made Carolina worried or sad at, it's Freelancer.

Carolina: Thanks genius.

Finn: Just trying to help.

Carolina: . . . . .

Epsilon: . . . . .

Finn: . . . . .

Carolina: I just thought of something. Remember you lecture me of being the best and what not?

Finn: How can I forget? You were brash, a bit arrogant and almost completely dedicated into getting to the top.

Carolina: Those days were from Project Freelancer. When we had teams.

Finn: Yeah.

Carolina reflected on the words Finn have said to her. While Carolina could outrank him, he is older than her and have experienced more battles and wars than the missions, which he preferably thinks is stable and low.

Past...

Carolina: So what do you care?

Finn: I'm saying, if you want to be the top, don't let some leaderboard judge you. We're soldiers after all. And most importantly, try learning to become more human Carolina.

. . . . .

Finn: Carolina, what the hell happened?

Carolina: So? We got it and it grant me ever so close to Text!

Finn: We're a team!

Carolina: And you are acting as a hindrance, by the looks of things.

Finn: You think this is a game, Carolina?

Carolina: It's not -

Finn: Do you think about the lives of your own teammates? I have to drag my ass everywhere, shield most of you from grenades, coordinate a better strategy utilizing everyone's strengths, ensure they can be alive and this is how you act to your own team?

Carolina: What? Does it matter?

Finn: Yes! And I'm beginning to see something is clearly wrong with you Carolina. You're not perfect, you're just a psychopath. When I first got into Project Freelancer, I made connections. But then I have a flashback.

Carolina: . . . . .

Finn: My old team, in front of me - all alive. I was once like you, Carolina. Competitive is what distinguishes me from the rest. Then when NOVA Z hit, everyone I know, perish. Everyone I've met, where either an infected, wounded or worst dead. Heed my warning, kid, you will regret losing them, once they are gone.

. . . . .

Finn: Hey kid, being the best doesn't mean attention from others, it's to set an example of what a good soldier is and what they are capable off.

Carolina: What do you know about being a soldier?

Finn: Heh. I might have mixed my words there. A good soldier fight with their brain. But a good person fights with their hearts. To be the best at both, well it isn't too hard. Just be human, try to socialize and never use the leaderboard as an excuse.

. . . . .

Present...

Carolina: Well, now I learned my lesson...the hard way.

Finn: It's tough, but hey, at least we have a new family. We just have to make sure none of us are used as cannon fodder.

Carolina: Yeah. They are idiots, but our idiots.

Off in the distance, an explosion is heard as well as a voice yelling, "Tucker did it."

Epsilon: We should probably help them.

Finn: Definitely.

Carolina: Yep.
