So this is something I've noticed since the first time listened to BMC (And probably a lot more of people) but the Squip literally sounds like that bad voice in your head formed by anxiety, depression, and bad self-esteem.

Do you imagine if the squip was only a metaphor for that voice and the play was only Jeremy listening to that voice and convincing himself that if he changed he would be "more chill"??
