Snow Day -Inuyasha-
Snow Day -Inuyasha-
Okay, so I must admit, I kinda cheated on this one. It's from the incomplete chapter three of my Inuyashaxoc fic that I deleted off of Fanfiction.net because I got writer's block. This chapter never got posted, and it seemed a shame to waste it, so I have finished it off as a oneshot instead. Enjoy~ :3
P.S. Sorry to whoever requested this one, you know, for the wait. I forgot the name again ^^' but when I find the name I will dedicate the oneshot to you :D
P.P.S. Next oneshot was requested, it will be Ciel Phantomhive. I'm going to try and get all of my current requests done.
P.P.P.S. An important thing about Kuro is that she is autistic. It is a mental disorder with a wide range of symptoms, which also tends to make those effected incredibly smart. Often an autistic person can just glance at a brick wall for a second, and know exactly how many bricks made it. It's stuff like that that are part of Kuro's personality. They also usually don't like change, or close contact with other people. Kuro only has a mild case, though.

Kuro gazed out of the window at the snow in disbelief. It was the middle of summer, why the Hell was it snowing?!
Throwing on a thick black sweater and tan skinny pants that Kuro found in the oak wood wardrobe that was in the room, the raven haired teen quickly left the room, running to the lounge area of the hut, where a small fire was already burning. Inuyasha lay against the wall beside it, and Kaede was stirring a large pot of something over it. Both turned to stare at her, making the girl shift uncomfortably.
"Er... morning, Kaede-baa-chan, Inuyasha..." Inuyasha just sniffed and looked away, but Kaede smiled.
"Good morning, child." the old miko replied, and Kuro smiled warmly, then slipped on her shoes, that she had left at the front door.
"I'm just going out for a walk, I won't be long." The young girl let herself out and shut the door, feeling the crunch on the snow underneath her school shoes. She smiled to herself as she saw the village children running around playing in the snow, building tall snowmen and laying on the floor making snow angels. Kuro was half tempted to make one herself, but knew better than to do so, thinly clothed as she was.
The raven-haired girl breathed deeply in the cold air, feeling a slight sting in the back of her throat from the freezing temperature, but enjoying the slightly piney scent. She combed her fingers through her mess of dark hair, pulling it over her shoulder and sighing. What she wouldn't give for a hairbrush right now...
There was a sudden snap of a twig behind her, and the teen whirled to the sound, only to see Inuyasha growling at a twig in a tree above her head. Evidently, that twig was the one that had made the sound.
"Inuyasha?" the hanyou froze in his growling match with the tree's spindly finger, and looked down to see Kuro watching him with a risen brow. "Are you... following me?"
Inuyasha's first reaction was to firmly rebuke the idea before it settled in her head, so that's what he did. "Yeah right! You just happened to be going in the same direction as me, is all."
"Yare, yare..." the girl said under her breath, sighing, then she turned on her heel and started back on her path along the edge of the forest. "Well, I'm going this way now, in case you want to 'go in the same direction' again."
Inuyasha growled to himself about it, but followed anyway. Both knew that the hanyou was following the human, but neither pointed it out, nor did they acknowledge it. Neither one spoke to the other either, that is, until a snowball came flying through the air and hit Inuyasha in the head.
The half inu hanyou jerked on impact, and slowly turned his head to glare at the small child who threw it.
"Why you little-" The little boy immediately stopped laughing and ran away at the death glare, but before Inuyasha could make chase, he was stopped by a quiet sound. It was soft, so much so that Inuyasha only just caught it, but it was definitely there. The hanyou turned back to face Kuro, steely glare in place.
"What are you laughing at?!" he demanded, then shook his head to clear snow out of his ears. The ningen girl tried to force the giggles down, but to no avail.
"G-gomen, it's just-" Kuro cut off with another half-suppressed laugh, "-your expression is priceless."
"Oh yeah?" the hanyou's eyes narrowed as he was struck with an idea. "Well maybe we should see how you like it!"
"Wha-?!" Kuro was cut off as a lump of snow hit her on top of the head (since Inuyasha was on higher ground). She wiped the snow away quickly, then smirked at Inuyasha.
"Okay, now it's on."
By the time the two were back at Kaede's hut, both hanyou and human were soaked and frozen. Though he didn't show it so much as Kuro, Inuyasha was glad to be indoors and have a chance to dry off. Kuro was extremely glad, for she was shivering and hated the cold, which was ironic since she loved the snow.
The ningen immediately took off her shoes and rushed to her room, shouting a 'hi' to the old woman. She fast stripped out of the wet clothes and slipped into some dry ones, then fluffed out her hair, swearing as it sent flakes of snow spattering into the walls.
Once that was done, Kuro picked up her sodden clothes and walked quickly through to the front room. She halted, however, when her eyes fell on a certain hanyou, stretched out in the middle of the floor. But her expression of shock and the slight blush that warmed her cheeks weren't due to the male himself, it was more because of his rather bare state. For Inuyasha had removed his haori and replaced it with a pair of black shorts, and nothing else, as was stretched out on the floor on his back. His position defined his well-toned stomach and chest, and although Kuro did not particularly like the hanyou, she was a teenage girl, with hormones that raged at the sight of a nicely muscled young man.
A certain faux-sleeping hanyou caught scent of said rushing hormones, and cracked open one eye to peer up at her, unable to mask his smirk. Red rose to the girl's usually pale cheeks, and she scowled back at him. Grumbling to herself, she stalked back to her temporary bedroom. He had planned that moment. It was obvious.
That bastard.
An annoyed grunt left the female's lips, just as a knock sounded on her bedroom door.
"Come in." she muttered, and the withered face of Kaede appeared from behind the door.
"I just wanted to let ye know that I am going out on an errand to another town. I won't be back until tomorrow; the journey is long and it is dangerous to travel alone at night, and too cold." Kuro's eyes narrowed at the mischief glittering in the old woman's eyes, suspecting that there was some double meaning to her words, "Inuyasha is to stay here with ye. Will ye be all right, child?"
The raven-haired girl gave a groan of displeasure, "Yes, Baa-chan. As long as Inuyasha doesn't annoy me to death..."
The old miko chuckled, and turned, "Well, I will see ye tomorrow."
For the first few hours, everything was fine in Kaede's cottage. Snow still swirled past Kuro's window, giving her something to do as she sat silently in her room. So far, exactly twenty-four thousand, eight hundred and fifty-one clumps of fluffy snowflakes had drifted within a three centimetre distance of the glass pane.
But after a while, it started to grow cold. The snow was slowly freezing into ice, and the rickety wooden walls of Kaede's hut didn't do much to protect the poor girl from the icy winds that howled through the village. But a drift of a familiar scent caught her by the nose, pulling her to her feet and sending her headlong out of her room and down the hall. A fire. A fire was lit in the front room.
Had she not known that it would burn her, the ningen would have quite happily thrown her shivering body into the flames.
"What are you doing in here?" Inuyasha gave an unkind welcome to the frozen girl as she sat as close as possible to the fire. He wasn't best pleased; this was his sleeping spot, and he doubted he would get any sleep with her there. From what he could tell, she fidgeted and made a lot of noise while sleeping.
"S-s-shut up, m-m-mutt. I'm f-f-freezing!" Kuro winced with every stutter, but was secretly glad, since those kept Inuyasha from snapping back a retort.
Or at least, so she thought. But no. What actually kept Inuyasha from replying, was her scent. Yet again, it had left him dumbstruck.
The fiery, yet somehow floral scent always left the hanyou in a daze. Usually he could shake it off fairly quickly, but these last two times it had left him speechless for quite a while. Earlier, the rain had made her smell so... so good, that Inuyasha had stood stock still for a good five minutes in her absence, before finally recovering enough to change out of his wet clothes. But now... he was stuck in a small room with her, with a draft created by the fire pulling the scent further around him with each passing second. It had taken hold, and was refusing to let go.
"Inuyasha, what the hell are you doing?!" blood rose to Kuro's cheeks as she was firmly held in an iron grip on the hanyou's lap, his nose buried in her hair. She recieved only a sniff as her answer, and couldn't help but feel slightly unconfortable, and more than a little weirded out. Inuyasha had grabbed her, and was sniffing her. Who wouldn't feel weird?
Plus, Kuro had a bit of an issue with people touching her. Even half demon people.
"Inuyasha, get the hell off of me!" she exclaimed, struggling in his grip. He refused to let go.
"Look, you were cold, weren't you? Just go to sleep or something." the hanyou's voice was gruff in her ear- he had come to his senses enough to realise what he had just done, and pink coloured his cheeks because of it, but he couldn't seem to make his arms let go of the girl they were holding onto. His body seemed to be finding the warmth of her enjoyable. And he had to admit, his mind was too.
And at least now, she had stopped that irritating shivering that made her teeth chatter noisily, Inuyasha told himself. He would never have gotten to sleep with that racket.
At least, that's what he fooled his mind into thinking, as he pulled the girl slightly closer.
