Rain, Rain
Yellow woke up to a perfect morning. The sun was shining, pidgey were singing in the trees, and Lance had his arms wrapped around her. It didn't get much better than this.
Lance had been awake for a while now, but there was no way he was getting out of bed unless Yellow was coming with him. He buried his nose in her hair, inhaling her scent. Many words came to mind when he thought of Yellow, but only one could truly describe her right now.
"You're so perfect", he whispered into her ear. Yellow blushed.
"You're awake", she said.
"I always wake up before you", he reminded her, caressing her arms gently.
Yellow shivered at his touch, curling her body into his. Lance turned her over to face him, kissing her on the lips. Yellow wrapped her arms around him, putting her head on his chest when they separated.
"Want me to make breakfast?" he asked, his voice rumbling in Yellow's ear.
"Let's have a picnic", she suggested.
"Good idea", Lance said, "do you want me to go make it?"
"Not yet", Yellow replied, clinging to him so he couldn't leave her yet.
Lance laughed and carefully extricated himself from her embrace. He knew that if he didn't leave soon, he wouldn't be able to get up.
Yellow groaned sleepily and rose to follow him downstairs, but shivered as her bare feet touched the cold floor. Lance, noticing this, picked her up and carried her down the stairs, setting her on the couch.
While Lance was packing their breakfast, Yellow added little cakes for dessert. The two of them were finally ready to go, and they left for Viridian Forest.
Without meaning to, Lance and Yellow both walked to the spot where they had met just a few weeks ago. Lance took Yellow's hand, kissing it gently before enveloping it in his large, rough hand.
The two of them spread out one of Yellow's blankets on the ground at the top of a cliff, making Yellow remember the first time Lance had saved her.
Lance had just handed her a sandwich (cheese and pecha berries, her favorite) when the sky turned turned grey with roiling cloud banks, and it started pouring on them.
Yellow looked at Lance, and they both just started laughing, thinking of how this was exactly what had happened the first time they met.
The two of them flew to Lance's house on Dragonite's back, and sat on a couch in one of the rooms untouched by the tree that had fallen. Lance noticed Yellow shivering, and started a fire in the wood stove, draping his mostly dry cape around her shoulders and fastening the clasp for her.
"Better?" he asked.
"Thank you", she replied, snuggling into his side to stay warm. He smiled down at her, resting his chin on top of her head. She felt ensconced in his embrace, happily pulling his arms around herself. Lance chuckled, and kissed her head before playing with her wet hair.
Yellow had just tilted her head back to kiss him when a knock sounded on the door. Lance ignored it and kissed her anyway.
Yellow pulled away as the knocking continued, increasing in volume.
"Do you think we should get that?" she asked Lance.
"No", said Lance. "I think I should go get it and find out what kind of crazy kid would be selling cookies at an old, broken down house on a rainy day, and you should sit right here and stay warm until I get back."
Yellow laughed. Lance loved her laugh. It made him think of the sun, bright and cheerful. He pulled himself off the couch to go see who was at the door.
A girl with a wild, purple hairdo and a tall, blue haired man stood outside, looking thoroughly soaked.
"Um. . . hi", said the girl. "Can we come in?"
"We got stuck in the storm, and need a place to stay until it stops raining. I'm Steven, and this is Iris. Would it be alright if we stayed in your house for now?" asked the young, blue haired man. Lance estimated he was a few years older than he was.
Yellow sat up as Lance led the new arrivals into the room.
"Hello. . . " Yellow said, unsure of who they were.
"This is Steven and Iris. They got caught in the storm and needed a place to stay until it stopped. And they aren't selling cookies", Lance explained. Yellow cracked up, and wasn't able to stop for a few minutes. Thankfully, Lance explained why she was laughing to Iris and Steven.
Then they started laughing, too. The atmosphere there was much less tense after that.
"I'm Yellow", Yellow told them, smiling. The four of them ended up sharing the very late breakfast, which was fine since Lance had over packed. Yellow thought it was cute how he pretended not to worry about anything, but he secretly put so much effort into the little details.
Eventually, night fell, but the rain still hadn't stopped. Lance had two intact guest rooms, and the master bedroom was also untouched, so he offered to let Iris and Steven stay the night. They accepted, and the four of them trickled off to their various rooms one by one.
Yellow and Lance shared a room, of course. Yellow lay down and curled her knees to her chest, thinking about everything that had happened that day. Not very bizarre, as far as she was concerned. The craziest day she'd ever had involved getting pushed into a volcano, saved by the man who had previously tried to kill her, and imprisoning two members of the Elite Four, among other things.
Lance sat down next to her. The two of them had only been together for a month now, but Yellow knew they would never be apart now.
She sat up, facing away from Lance, but before she could turn, he pulled her close, caging her in with his legs on either side of her, and his head on top of hers. Yellow blushed, surprised at their sudden nearness.
"Caught you", Lance whispered in her ear. He folded his arms in front of her, making Yellow blush harder.
Iris pushed open the door right then. "Hi, I was just wondering, where's the bathroom?" she asked, before she registered the sight in front of her. "Oh, I'm so sorry, um, I'll just-"
"Downstairs, take a left, second door on the right", Lance answered immediately. He was completely unflustered.
"Thanks", Iris mumbled over her shoulder, closing the door and hurrying off as her face turned red.
"Why does that keep happening?" Lance wondered aloud, before shrugging and kissing Yellow's neck.
He found it hard to kiss her neck with a smock in the way, so he carefully undid the back of it and took it off her. Then her turtle neck decided to get in the way, too. "That also keeps happening", he said. Yellow frowned. She needed to get a new top.
She mentioned this to Lance, and he agreed whole-heartedly. "Let's go shopping tomorrow", he suggested.
"Yeah, we can invite Iris and Steven, too", Yellow said, excited by the idea.
Lance agreed, and went back to trying to kiss Yellow. He ended up pulling her around to face him so he could just kiss her lips.
"On second thought", she said, "a new top might not be needed." She kissed him again.
So there really isn't a way to fit this relaxed story line in with the Second Chance series, but I thought it would be fun to write it as a separate story, so here you go, everyone. It won't be long, but this should be fun. Thank you all again for the 100 views on A Second Chance. SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!! Okay, I'll turn off the capslock. Alright, alright, I'll write the next section. Or get started on it, anyway. Remember to vote, comment, share, fan, follow, and have a good weekend.
