Rain

When it rains it pours.

It pours and pours until it floods every aspect of life.

Rain dangerously snatches up and swallows everything whole, taking every joy away, every peaceful presence away.

Its gloominess comes with dark skies and a thunderous enemy with its unpredictable waves.

Uncle Tom is my enemy. He was the storm that wrecks my life.

My obedience is the crashing wave that swirls around.

My fear fuels it all, washing away any boldness for me to fight.

In the days since Katy questioned me then left me here have been nothing, but brutal. I've been miserable for years but these last few days have been insane. She dropped us off on a saturday with full bellies of delicious breakfast and completely energized from a good night's rest. When I settled in the house and closed the door on the opportunity to speak up. Uncle Tom praised my competence in shunning Katy away.

He laughed at my pain exposing his challenge in allowing me to stay with her for a night. I was his pawn in this game of chess. I was utterly something to toy with. He knew I wouldn't dare go against him and the days after he continued his challenge.

That night he made me kneel before him between his bedroom and the bathroom like a rag doll on display. I couldn't move for the slightest reason. Not even to relieve myself. He didn't care that I was on my period, he dared me to move. I spent all day there holding my bladder and moaning from the pain in my knees and abdomen.

" Please Uncle Tommy." I begged , I went back to when I was a little girl, who loved her uncle dearly, trying to come up with anything to bring that uncle back. I cried as I began to feel a clot of blood seep out of me as I squirmed from where I kneeled. It had been way too long since the last time I changed so there was no doubt that I'd made a mess of myself.

" I did what you asked. I was good. I didn't say anything, I swear." I continued to cry, but he didn't say anything.

That's how my Saturday went. Being submissive and at his mercy. Tears flowed like ran continuously until my tear ducts dried up and withered away. The Iris of my eyes became gloomy as redness surrounded them, leaving them to feel sore.

By the time he finally let me move, I felt numb. I practically tumbled over my feet to reach the bathroom, barely making it in the process.

Sunday morning was still gruesome. I felt sick to my stomach on top of the cramps I was already feeling. I expressed I didn't feel well but he didn't care. I was made to clean the dark house from top to bottom. Raiden did the best he could to help, but he was only in the way, making my day even harder. Eventually he was sent into Uncle Tom's room locked away from the rest of the home. I knew what that meant.

By nightfall, his friends showed up with beer and other addicting elements. Mother nature may have been my saving grace but the drunker Uncle Tom got the angrier he was. The higher he got the more looser he became. His friends loved him when he was high and drunk. The combination made him less scarier to them which became my downfall. Being intoxicated gave them the freedom to do whatever they wanted to me.

" You might be on your period but your mouth ain't." One of his friends spewed his venom.

I looked over at Uncle Tom hoping that he would stop it from happening. I begged for him to see me but he was too far gone. His eyes were glazed over with a needle sticking out of his forearm. He only causally shot Heroin up his arm. He could always bounce back and refrain from using hardcore drugs as if he was only a social druggie. If anything he was a daily beer drinker, cigarette smoker, and a weekend stoner.

Uncle Tom's distant eyes were just what his friend needed to see as he unzipped his pants. Another man did the same as the woman he was with happily fulfilled his request.

" No, please I can't. I really don't feel well."

I wasn't lying. I had become nauseated to the point I felt like I was going to hurl any minute. I got up to rush to the bathroom but the man pulled me down. I swallowed hard to suppress the urge to throw up.

" Ain't no running bitch." The man pins me down onto the couch with his friends laughing in the process. I could feel his hardened member pressed up against my face. I felt more hands on my body that aided in pinning me down but they were softer hands.

It was the woman that was with them. " Just relax." She moaned as her partner got behind her.

I couldn't hold it any longer. With my mouth shut, the rumble in my stomach came up. I instantly started to choke in the position I'm in. With tears streaming down my face I finally allowed myself to cough up. The man immediately moved away in disgust. Now that my body was free from being pinned down, I struggled to roll myself over as I continued to choke on my own vomit.

The woman, the only person with sense, turned me over. " Sit up girl. What the fuck man?" After sitting up straight she began fussing at the man, as she didn't try to help him rape me.

" The bitch threw up on me."

Once my coughing subdued, I got up and hastily stumbled my way into the bathroom. I was beyond exhausted. I felt like a truck ran me over and over as if I was a wasted drunk.

Do you think my almost dying was enough for them to leave me alone?

No

The woman and her partner were kind enough to help me clean my mess, then they left me with the angry man and a sleeping Uncle Tom.

Monday Morning I was Iris as Uncle Tom came from his drugged slumber. No matter the pain I was in, I managed to feed and wash up Raiden for school. I wore a hood and Uncle Tom's shades to keep Raiden from seeing me.

" Iris." Uncle Tom groaned, stumbling into the kitchen. I didn't say a word as I continued to make sure Raiden's back pack was packed.

Raiden looked concerned as he ate his cereal.

" Who told you can have that Ray?" He asked Raiden but I stepped in front of him.

With the weekend I had my body worn and tired but I was also fed up.

" You've proved your point. You can do whatever you want to me and I won't say a word." I grimaced. " But at least you can do is allow him to eat"

He slowly took off my shades revealing my bruised face. A huge no no. I found out that my face was off limits not because it's clear evidence of abuse, he didn't care about that. My face was off limits because I looked like Iris, my mother. The woman he loved. My existence was just the result of her betrayal in Uncle Tom's eyes. In reality, My mother was never Tom's. She was in love with my father, his half brother.

" I'll take him to school, you wait here."

Today was Tuesday and I am back to being Rain. The Rain that was quiet as a mouse. The Rain that was battered and bruised. The Rain that wished the storm was over.

" You know I took care of the man that did that to you." Uncle Tom gestured towards my face. I was laying down in bed while he sat.

The swelling on my face finally went down a bit but it was still nasty to look at. My face matched how I truly felt and that was dirty.

Uncle Tom continued to talk but I really wasn't listening. I was stuck in this feeling of defeat.

" Did you hear me, Rain?"

That's when I looked at him. I looked him directly into his cold dead eyes. Something that I hadn't done in a very long time. I searched deep into them trying to see if there was an ounce of the man I knew before he became one with the devil.

" Yes sir!" That's what I said but really what I meant is that I die here.

Let it Rain.

Rain brings mourning of what was once lost.

Then comes a rebirth.

A rebirth of something new blossoms after a lack of need and drought.

What will happen when sunshine comes after the Rain?

Will an Iris bloom and bring color to this dark cold world?

Let it Rain.

Let it pour.

Because I die today.

Grabbing a knife out of the drawer I did what I vowed I wouldn't for Raiden's sake.
