Chapter 1

I starred down on Lauren's weak, quirkless body. Trembling on the ground in pain and exhaustion, "I...I did what you asked Arishino. So what do you want,"

I, a proud man with the quirk Metal, am to be the first person to graduate at U.A. and become the number one hero at our stupid school beside pro heroes Deku and Bakugo. How do I know? There's a whole wall dedicated to who graduated at the best colleges. I'd be the 15th addition to that wall In 3 months. I smiled, "I can tell you tried your best."

Lauren, was a quirkless girl who wanted to be, what was it again? Oh yes, some nobody in law enforcement who thought the police were just as capable of stopping crime as heroes. I needed to show her wrong. It's not that being quirkless was bad, but I hated Lauren anyway. Always talking about how unjust life was and blabbing on about heroes being unfit for their jobs. But today she made a mistake.

I put my foot on her side as if she were a previously shot deer, "Can the police beat villains?"

A bit of blood began to seep of from a cut on her leg, "Yes!"

"Did you hear me, Lauren? Were you in the fight we just had?" I yelled trying to knock some sense into her, "Can the police, stop villains?"

"Yes!" She yelled and I pushed my foot down on her harder. Using the iron in my body I created a blade and held it to her face so that Lauren would know it's there. A crowd began to gather around us and I thanked god I did this off school property.

I leaned in and spat as my anger grew, "Listen to me carefully Lauren, and I want you to think about your answer," she groaned in pain from my weight and threat, "Can the stupid, futile, police defeat and save the city from villains?"

Lauren waited a minute and stared at the concrete of the community basketball court, where more people began to gather and mummer to each other as they watched her meet a devastating failure, "They can Arishino. I stand by that! Now and always!"

"Damn it!" I yelled as the blade gashed the sorry girl's cheek. She grimaced as tears ran down her face, "Remember this day Lauren! When I become the number hero we won't even need the police!"
I took my foot off Lauren and let her stagger to her feet. One member from the crowd, probably quirkless, called out, "What kinda hero will you be when you do that to a girl?"
I spun around, blades in hand, to see a heavyset man in an orange shirt and matching hair.
I sheathed the blades back into my wrists and the slits healed accordingly, "Lauren challenged me. We agreed to battle until ones beaten and punishment by loss. I'm only honoring my words," I said truthfully but still angered.

Lauren grabbed onto the gate, "Arishino fought and went easy on me. He'll be a great hero,"
I looked back to her, a bleeding, dirty mess, in utter confusion. After all that, she's rooting for me? Why would she...how could she? My fists clenched together and the baffled crowd disbursed back into their cliques.

"Arishino," Lauren whimpered beginning to walk off to her home. I nodded, "I'm going to make sure. You regret your words"
That little! I beat her to the ground and she's just okay with that? She makes me so...so angry! Metal shards jutted out of my skin. That bastard's the only one who'll eat their words!
God, could Lauren be any more annoying.

I picked up my basketball from where I left it against the gate. Dribbling it hard and fast while walking along the fence, shards tearing through it with ease.
