THREE
(A/N Just so you know, at this point the story is kinda cringe worthy for me. So I don't mind if you make fun of it, because so do I)
Standing in line for lunch, you inspect the area around you. Today was granted to you a free day since you are new, in addition to your roommates. Speaking of your roommates, you haven't even met them yet. By the time you were awake, the three were gone.
You look in front of you to see four men, standing together and talking. One has black hair in a ponytail, one has freckles and curly hair ALSO in a ponytail, one has-
wait. No way. It's impossible. Is it? You inspect the other two, one very tall with dark curly hair (in a ponytail), and one VERY tall with short hair. The short haired one said something, and freckles pushed him and says, "Shut up, Herc."
It is taking all the power within you to not scream out, "HERCULES MULLIGANS!" There is no way that it will end well. Instead, you try to formulate a plan of how to meet the four. Introducing yourself didn't seem logical for some reason, but what else could you do? You suddenly think of it as the line moved forward. Instead of stopping like everybody else, you continue to walk right into the man in front of you, whom you are 99.9% sure is Hercules Mulligan.
"Oof!" you say loudly, trying to get his attention. "Yes!" you think as he turns around and looks down at you. "I'm so sorry. Guess I wasn't paying enough attention," you say, cringing at how fake your own voice sounds. "No worries, no harm. You new here, kid?" He fell for it!
"Yeah, I just arrived yesterday." You hold out your hand and introduce yourself, "My name is Samuel Twain, but everybody calls me Sam." Oooooo, nice one. "Hercules. Hercules Mulligan. And these are my friends John Laurens, Alexander Hamilton, and Lafayette." You shake each of their hands, and it is hard not to giggle with excitement. Not only did your time machine work, but you're meeting the Hamilsquad in person!
"Why did you join the revolution Sam? I mean, besides kicking redcoat's butts," Alex asks. "I believe in equality for everybody, whether you are a man or woman, black or white," is your quick answer. John's eyes light up when you say this, and he responds excitably, "I agree! I'm still working on it, but someday I'm going to lead the first all black battalion!" You are eager to hear more, but the four are at the front of the line to receive their food. "It was great to meet you Sam!" Hercules shouts back as they walk away. "See you around, mon ami!" Lafayette calls. Did Lafayette just call you his friend?! You want to follow them, but decide it might be too pushy.
As the ladies serve you your food, you over hear their conversation. "Did you see the way Alexander looked at you? What a hunk!" one of them yell/whispers to the other. "But the one with the freckles! John, I think. He's too cute!" the other whispers back. Yep. Those boys are definitely reliable with the ladies. You smile and thank them, and hear them giggling as you walk away.
The Hamilsquad is out of sight, so there's no chance of hanging out with them now. You see a nice big tree, providing lots of shade. After you plop yourself done beneath the giant tree, you notice that there is actually someone else sitting under the same tree, on the other side. They are absorbed in the book they're reading, not aware of their surroundings. You take a peek at one of the page and recognize the story almost instantly: Twelfth Night (A/N: Get it? Get it? Get it?).
"I love Twelfth Night," you say, startling the man. After regaining his senses, he says, "I'm sorry, I didn't see you there." You laugh and say, "I can tell." The two of you laugh for a second, then you nod down to the book and ask, "Do you like Shakespeare?" He shrugs and answers, "I guess. This is definitely and interesting story, I just enjoy reading in general." "I know how annoying it is to have someone interrupt your reading, so I'll let you go." He murmurs a thanks and jumps back into his book.
Wait...he seems familiar. How? You're racking your brain for answers when you suddenly get it. Don't sing. Don't sing.
"Pardon me, are you Aaron Burr, sir?" He looks up from his book and asks, "Um, yeah, why do you ask that?" "I just...I just heard of you from around camp, and you perfectly fit the description of the Aaron Burr I heard of." Burr stares at you for a second, a little confused about how you had heard about him. Be polite, (Y/N). "I'm Samuel Twain, by the way. But everybody calls me Sam." He smiles at you and shakes your hand. "Nice to meet you, Sam. I would introduce myself, but it seems like you've already heard about me." He frowns and adds, "All positive things I hope. It's always nice to meet somebody who appreciates good literature."
After talking for a few minutes, you and Aaron Burr are pretty good friends. By the time you go to bed, you can hardly sleep because of all the excitement from the events of that day.
