"You'll call me if you find him, right?"
Jun rolled his eyes, nudging Eunjae with his shoulder. "Of course, my precious life is on the line here, and I can't leave Hoshi without my wonderful presence, can I?"
Eunjae glared, raising his arm slightly as he took a step towards Jun. Satisfied with the boy ducking back apologetically, Eunjae crossed his arms. "Don't say anything to him. You've already done enough."
"You don't have to be mean, I'm helping you, aren't I?"
"I wouldn't need your help if you hadn't run your mouth in the first place."
Jun shook his head, mumbling to himself as he set off down the hallways. Eunjae went the opposite way, his steps purposeful as he searched for Minghao. He was in a stump though, thinking of where he could have gone. He rarely went anywhere without Jun.
It was then that Eunjae realized he didn't know that much about the smaller boy. He had kissed him, and he didn't even know his interests. Perhaps he was interested in films, as he had stacked his movies proudly on his desk. But that was absurd; lots of people loved movies, but it didn't mean that they were interested in the film process. Minghao obviously treasured his family, based on the way he had carefully set up his pictures, so that he could see them from the bed. Eunjae wondered what his family was like. He wondered what they were like, did he have any siblings? Pets? And what were his friends like? Was he very popular? Why had he moved here? Maybe he had left a boyfriend behind in China. Or a girlfriend, Eunjae couldn't assume that he was gay.
It was frustrating for Eunjae, and he ruffled his hair, letting out a prolonged sigh.
With the little Korean Minghao could understand, Eunjae guessed that perhaps he had gone to the language department. Clinging onto that idea, he quickly ran towards the language wing, hoping that it would be that easy to find him.
Peering into the Chinese classroom, Eunjae punched his fist into the air; Minghao was inside, speaking to the teacher.
Of course, it would be a comfort for him to speak his native language. Eunjae had the sudden urge to learn Chinese.
Relieved now that he had found Minghao, Eunjae settled against the wall, eagerly awaiting the boys exit.
He shouldn't have relaxed quite yet, as Minghao still had no desire to see him. As soon as he walked out, he was met with Eunjae smiling broadly at him, both hands waving at him.
He sighed, his heart still aching, and quickly turned away, setting down the hall in a determined stride. Eunjae went to follow him, but he was suddenly met with the teacher, and he lurched backwards in alarm.
"Oh, you there! Are you here to sign up for a class?"
"Oh, um, no, I was just-"
"Ah, I'm so glad! So many students only focus on other studies. Languages are important too, but they just don't think about it."
"Well, I have to be going now, sorry..."
"They always go on and on about becoming idols. They should know that most idols should be bilingual, at least. It's a good skill, to be able to speak to a broader audience."
Eunjae slowly backed away, swiftly walking around the rambling teacher and running towards where Minghao disappeared. He was convinced that the teacher hadn't noticed, too caught up in his ranting.
He smiled, spotting Minghao a few paces away, still walking as fast as his legs could carry him down the empty hallway. Eunjae immediately stopped running, watching the small boy shuffling briskly. He looked so cute, with his little strides, his hands balled into fists, swinging back and forth across his sides.
Eunjae quickly caught up, shortening his strides to keep pace with Minghao. He put his arm around the boys shoulders, smiling sweetly as Minghao stared at him. He tried to shake him off, but Eunjae was persistent, following him closely.
He followed Minghao up the stairs, quickly hopping up the steps ahead of him so that he could face him. He pursed his lips in a pout, "Minghao yah, don't be mad at me."
Minghao was steadfast, ignoring him as he walked up to the roof. Eunjae followed him, quickly hugging him, smiling happily when Minghao's head was against his chest. Minghao froze, staring ahead as his back was suddenly flushed with warmth.
Yes, he was right. It did feel nice, to have Minghao held against him. Nervously, Eunjae quickly pressed his lips onto the top of Minghao's head before letting go of him in embarrassment. His cheeks were stained red, and he was frustrated because it was supposed to be Minghao that was blushing.
He was, Eunjae just hadn't looked.
Minghao sat down, and Eunjae knelt down beside him, his body facing him. He shuffled closer, altering his position so that his legs encircled the smaller boy. He quickly hugged Minghao again, leaning his head on his shoulder so Minghao couldn't escape.
"Minghao yah, please don't be mad at me," Eunjae's heart pounded as Minghao turned to meet his eyes.
Wasn't it supposed to be the other way around? He was supposed to make Minghao feel this way. Minghao wasn't even doing anything, so why was his heart acting so crazy?
Eunjae sighed, leaning back. "Why are you looking at me like that? Ah, I'm trying to be cute, why are you giving me that look? I don't like acting cute, but I'm doing it for you, and you just -"
He froze, his eyes widening in surprise as Minghao leaned into his chest, resting his head against Eunjae. His lips trembled, trying to find words.
"You, Jeonghan, no?"
Eunjae wrapped his arms tighter, pulling Minghao closer to him, despite the stress it caused his wild heart. "No, I don't like him." 'Because maybe, I like you.'
Minghao wasn't sure what to do; he wanted to believe Eunjae, he really wanted to believe that Eunjae would choose him, without a doubt. But Jun had said he was upset because Jeonghan was dating his friend after rejecting him. It didn't make sense, why would he be upset if he didn't still like Jeonghan? Surely he wouldn't be that upset just because his friend was dating him. Unless his pride was hurt, because he wasn't good enough, while his friend was satisfying enough. But then, Eunjae was one of the most handsome boys at this school, and his quiet personality only made him even more attractive to Minghao. His feelings put him in quite the situation, as he was likely to forgive Eunjae whether he liked Jeonghan or not. It wasn't fair, that Eunjae only had to smile to make his heart flutter this much.
"You're deep in thought." Eunjae wasn't sure why he was saying that; it was very unlikely that Minghao would be able to fully understand and respond. But still, he just wanted to hear his voice. Yes, even if he understood nothing, he would be happy just listening to Minghao's soft voice.
Minghao hesitated, taking one last moment to try and calm his heart before shifting his head to look up at Eunjae. "Yes. You're truth, or not?"
Eunjae moved his hand forward, paused, and then pulled it back. He was going crazy because of this innocent boy in his arms. He sighed, fighting against himself before he shook off the doubt and moved his hand to grab Minghao's. "I'm telling the truth, Minghao. I will work harder, so that we can talk easily and avoid these problems in the future. I'll learn Chinese, or help you with Korean, or, or," Eunjae sighed, licking his lips nervously. Heart, please calm down. He's not doing anything to cause this, only existing. But that's all he needs to do, to cause this rapid heartbeat. "Minghao, don't be mad at me anymore. I can't stand it."
Minghao smiled to himself; even without understanding everything, he liked to think that he could hear the sincerity in Eunjae's voice. He didn't respond, only relaxing farther into the embrace and staring at the sky. Eunjae smiled, staring down at him with the same wonder that he showed the clouds.
