*Chapter Thirty Nine*
"Why does she sleep all the time? I want to play with her" Madelyn pouts looking through the bars of the crib from beside her mother. Claire smiles and gently rubs the back of her head.
"She still has some growing to do before you can play with her," Claire says quietly. "But don't worry, you only have to wait a little longer and then you'll have a play mate for life,"
"But it's taking forever" Madelyn whines. Claire smiles and releases a small laugh.
"Hey, Maddie" Caroline says appearing in the doorway. Madelyn leans back and looks at her. "Aunt Bonbon is here and I think she brought some ice cream," Caroline whispers secretively. Madelyn gasps and dashes out of the room.
Once Madelyn was out of the room, Caroline took her place. The twins stand next to each other and look down at the three month old baby. As the time passed Kaylin's features changed slightly. She was beginning to favor Claire physically which is the opposite of her sister, who took after her fathers features. However, Kaylin's eyes held the devious and mischievousness of Klaus which slightly worried Claire.
"Well, at least Madelyn isn't insanely jealous and hateful towards Kaylin," Caroline mutters looking on the bright side.
"Just insanely impatient," Claire smiles looking at her twin sister. "Reasonably. She has her friends from school but she doesn't get to see them much. She's surrounded by adults. I understand why she wants Kaylin to grow up so quick but all I can think about is how much I want them both to slow down, Madelyn especially"
"Maddie shot up like a rocket," Caroline agrees.
"And grows more every day," Claire whispers. "I feel like the next time I even blink she'll be moving out and ready for college,"
"Don't worry, that's not for a long time," Caroline comforted while wrapping her arm around Claire's shoulders.
"It'll be here before we even know it," Claire whispers. "Especially with how smart she is. She's only 6 years old and is already learning how to multiple and is damn good at it,"
"I still use a calculator," Caroline shrugs. "She'll be smarter than me in a few months," Claire smiles nodding in agreement. "Trust me, you'll have your hands full," Caroline smirks dropping her arm and nudging her sister. "Let me guess, Kaylin is one of many to come,"
"Don't remind me," Claire groans. "I feel like I'm going to start fending those horn-dogs off with a vervain pitchfork" Caroline giggled quietly.
"Come on, I think some girl talk is what you need," Caroline says pulling Claire out of the nursery.
The two walk down to the main floor of the plantation. Construction has finally been finished allowing everyone to move back in. Jamie and Bonnie opted to find their own place a few miles down the road. Kai and Penelope have finished whatever revenge Kai had planned on his family and decided to continue traveling for the time being.
It didn't necessarily shock anybody when they announced that Kai is now a vampire seeing as siphoner's are all the more powerful when they're vampires. It did bring up questions on if Penelope would turn into a vampire down the road. The youngest South wanted to wait seeing as nobody knew for sure if it were possible for a female vampire to become pregnant. Penelope wanted a family in the future and would remain a human until they reached that stage.
Rebekah and Asher are slowly making their way back to New Orleans. However, if they find a place they particularly like or believe to be a fun destination, their ETA on their return extends. Nobody knew for sure when they would return but they were making progress ever so slowly.
The only people who actually lived in the plantation are the Mikaelson brothers, Claire, Madelyn and Kaylin, and even Davina. Davina wanted to stay close to Claire, the two of them becoming quite close, all the while learning how to control and expend her magical knowledge from not only Claire but from Kol as well. Marcel wasn't crazy about the idea but had already learned his lesson on the fact that he couldn't control the teenager, no matter how hard he tried. Although, he does frequently visit. However, Claire notices that his visits aren't always for Davina. She notices that slowly he is beginning to re-patch things with not only Klaus but Elijah.
When Marcel wasn't at the plantation he was in the streets of New Orleans partying with the other vampires and hybrids. The werewolves tended to stay in the bayou under strict supervision. The witches had all scattered from New Orleans. The only ones really remaining are the ones within Claire's coven, the ones that could be trusted.
Marcel didn't truly have a home, he picked back up on his bachelor ways. He helped Claire and her mates run the city when they needed it but he no longer had the majority of the responsibility. Without the responsibility, he enjoyed the luxury. However, when he wanted to lay his head down he went to the Abattoir, if Caroline allowed him in.
Caroline and Enzo practically owned the Abattoir. It was their spot and everyone knew it. They held parties and feasts. She usually opens her home to Marcel but not to the ladies he likes to keep during the night. She didn't want to walk around her home in the morning and find women she has never seen before ogling at her mate on their way out. She's even opened her home to Archie although he declined saying he was moving into Kaleb's apartment in the heart of the city.
After losing two out of three of their children, Beth and Alistair (Hanna's parents) decided to move back to Mystic Falls. After the death of Elena and Damon, and the departure of basically all the supernatural, Mystic Falls returned to a peaceful town making it safer than it previously was when Claire, Caroline and Bonnie were in high school.
Surprisingly, Caroline and Claire's mother moved to New Orleans permanently in order to stay closer to the twins and her two granddaughters. Even more surprisingly is that she moved into a house just down the road with Hanna. Despite Noah cheating on Hanna with Liz, the two ladies held no resentments nor awkwardness. They simply moved on both agreeing that they've lost too much and that life is too short to hold onto grudges of the past.
"Wow," Claire breathes walking into the kitchen. "You are glowing," Bonnie grins widely and slides out of the seat she was in. She does a little twirl showing off her pregnant stomach. "How far are you?"
"Just went into my 6th month," Bonnie says.
"She's having a girl!" Madelyn practically shouts from the table. Claire smiles at her. Madelyn's entire face was covered in strawberry ice cream.
"Maybe," Bonnie nods grinning at the little 6 year-old. "We're waiting to find out the gender, we want it to be a surprise" She says looking back at the twins.
"Her names Angela, mommy," Madelyn says looking at Claire. "She's allergic to cats though so she won't be able to come over," Madelyn pouts.
"Who are you talking about, Mad-Cat?" Claire asks. Madelyn points to Bonnie.
"Angela" Madelyn says simply. Bonnie frowns her eyebrows and looks at Claire.
"Any chance you were considering Angela as a girls name?" Claire asks her quietly. Bonnie slowly nods.
"Angela is the name of Jamie's grandmother," Bonnie mutters back. "How did you know the name?" Bonnie asks Madelyn. She shrugs and continues to stuff her face with her ice cream. Claire walks over and sits beside her.
"Did you have a dream about Angela, sweetheart?" Claire whispers. Madelyn nods casually. Bonnie walks over and sits at the table giving Madelyn her complete attention. "Can you tell us about it?"
"Angela was my size and she was playing with me in the backyard but then she started to sneeze so Aunt Bonbon took her home," Madelyn described.
"Has this happened before?" Bonnie asks and Claire nods.
"Why don't you go with Aunt Caroline to the bathroom and get cleans up" Claire suggests as Madelyn finishes her ice cream. Caroline holds her hand out and Madelyn skips over to her. "You know how my dad Noah was a gifted fortune teller, right?"
"Yeah," Bonnie nods. "He's the one who blocked their dreams of you," Bonnie recalls remembering Claire tell her about how Noah had done a spell to block the soulmate bond on the Mikaelson end.
"We think that ability evolved in Madelyn. Noah had to do spells to see the future but she does it naturally," Claire tells her. "Sometimes it's of years and years into the future and other times it's just days,"
"Has she gotten anything wrong yet?" Bonnie asks.
"We're not sure, she hasn't had enough come to life yet to get an idea of accuracy but so far she's been right," Claire says running a hand through her hair. "She's predicted that Liz would move to New Orleans for good days before mom even told anybody she was considering it. She's predicted that Kai would turn into a vampire and he has."
"Anything bad yet?" Bonnie asks hesitantly. Claire bites her lips looking hesitant. "What?" Bonnie presses nervously.
"She saw Archie with bright blue eyes and as a vampire kill himself in the forest," Bonnie gasps and covers her mouth.
"She saw that?" Bonnie whispers and Claire nods.
"We don't know what it means or when it'll happen. Archie has no reason to want to be a vampire. Sure, Asher will eventually become one to be with Rebekah but he'll want to be human with Kaleb," Claire explains. "It haunted her for days before she finally got over it,"
"Poor thing," Bonnie whispers.
"The whole 'Kai-dramatically-turning-into-a-vampire' scared her a bit as well but other than that she hasn't had many nightmares,"
"But?" Bonnie presses. Claire sighs running her hand through her hair again.
"She's had another vision," Bonnie tilts her head. "It happened a few months ago and was so bad I blocked the memory from her mind just so she could sleep,"
"What happened?" Bonnie asks concerned.
"According to Klaus, she saw a man standing over a crib. He couldn't see what the man was doing but a woman tries to stop the man and ends up dying." Bonnie's face turns to sympathy. "But she didn't just die the woman was pinned to the ceiling and burned, the whole house burned"
"Oh, God," Bonnie mutters. "Why would she see that?" She asks.
"When Klaus was in her mind watching the vision he felt a connection between her and the baby in the crib along with the baby's older brother" Claire confesses.
"A connection?" Bonnie asks.
"I think Madelyn reacted so terribly because she saw her mates in danger," Bonnie leans back in her seat. "So, I do a little digging and see what I can find,"
"And?" Bonnie asks eagerly.
"The vision she saw was a vision of the past," Claire explains. "4 years ago in Lawrence, Kansas, Mary Winchester dies in a fire. Her two sons, Sam and Dead, and her husband make it out."
"And you believe that these boys are her mates?" Bonnie asks and Claire hesitantly nods.
"Madelyn has magic in her and she's an untriggered werewolf," Claire shrugs. "Of course she'll be destined to have a mate or mates,"
"How're you taking it?" Bonnie asks.
"She's still so young, so are Sam and Dean. It'll be years before they even meet so I have time to come to terms with it," Claire nods slightly. "The others, on the other hand," Claire grins. "They're acting a lot like Noah,"
"They don't want her to find them and don't want them to find her," Bonnie figures out. Claire smiles and nods.
"They're very protective of her," Claire confesses. "So am I," Claire adds. "She's only 6 years-old for God sakes, she's not allowed to think about boys or mates for another 20-30 years" Bonnie laughs. "I'm not about to let some kids who don't even know how to tie their own shoes come and try to sweep my daughter off her feet, hell no," Claire grumbles making Bonnie laugh some more. "But thankfully she hasn't thought about them or had anymore visions,"
"Will you unlock her memory?" Bonnie asks.
"Wen she's a little bit older and her mind can handle something that scary without scarring her," Claire says. "I'm not going to keep them apart like Noah tried to do with me but I can keep her to myself for a little longer," Bonnie smiles a little bit. "All of my other mates wants children, I'm going to have to deal with so much drama and heartbreak and stupid soulmates,"
"You'll be able to handle it, I have no doubt" Bonnie reaches over and pats her arm. "You'll have plenty of support,"
"And so will you," Claire smiles at her. "You're family Bonnie, don't forget that" Bonnie smiles brightly at her.
*1. I know it was probably a more boring chapter but it was more informational than anything. Now you know where everyone is and it's slowly leading into season two.
2. Season two will be different in this book but at the same time not that different. I hope you like the differences.
3. The Winchesters maybe mentioned a few times in this book but they WILL NOT BE IN THIS BOOK. I'm planning on having Madelyn be Sam and Dean's soulmate. I might write a spin-off but I'm not completely sure but I'm setting it up so that if I do plan on making the spin-off it'll make more sense.
4. Sorry, there's no Mikaelson's in this chapter but things will start to pick up in the next chapter. This was more of a filler chapter and basically a way for me to get my ducks in a row. A way for me to write out where everyone is and what's going on. I hope you still enjoyed it but the next chapters will be better.
5. I love y'all and hope you keep reading!*
