The sky began to become its stunning pale blue as the sun kissed the earth as it rose over the trees, it seemed as though the earth was at peace after the greatest battle between humans and werewolves. Some humans would travel to the cursed forest to trade supplies with the werewolves and to see their old loved ones who had fled during the war, humans seen with werewolves were counted as either a merchant or a traitor. No humans were allowed to live within the cursed forest even if they had a beloved werewolf living there, there was much to do in the small tribe especially with new werewolf pups being born every spring. It had been thirteen years since the heir to the tribe had been born, her hair was as golden as the sun itself, her ears and tail were a dark grey with red tips and her eyes were as pale blue as a clear sky on the brightest of days. Tanya looked out over her future followers, they would depend upon her to keep them all safe. Tanya knew she was special as no werewolf had ever been born with red tipped ears and tail, the tribe thought of this as a sign that she would lead them to greatness but a few thought she would destroy them all. The tribe bore the symbol of one of the rarest types of werewolf, it was known as an ultima but none have ever actually seen one and lived. An ultima's eyes were red like blood and held a deadly magic that even the toughest werewolves wouldn't survive its stare, they were said to be the makers of the werewolf kind as it could make its ears appear and than vanish in an instant. There was a lot of rumours that only the purest of blooded werewolves could be born an ultima, since none had seen what its appearance was no one knew what was so different about it other than its ability to change its eye colour and make its ears and tail vanish at will. Tanya looked about hoping to find any means of playing but to no avail, her parents kept her locked up inside as she was still a werewolf pup and had many more lessons to learn. She hated to be locked inside only to learn, she wanted to go out with the hunters to hunt down any stray humans and to hunt food for her family but no matter how hard she tried the only thing they said was "it's too dangerous we cannot have our special pup be killed by bears and monsters". Tanya began to fiddle with the window lock hoping to somehow get past its trickery of keeping her in, it gave a stubborn creak and gave way as she managed to unlock it. Tanya climbed out the window and ran out to greet the tribe, she ran up to her friends who had decided a place to meet up with her so she didn't get in trouble.
"Hey guys sorry I'm late the window refused to move," Tanya giggled, her friends giggled too. They weren't as pure blooded as she was as they had human fathers, Saurion gave a shake shaking the morning dew from his ears and tail.
"Let's go hunting already the dew is irritating my ears," Saurion complained, Tanya giggled and ran off in the direction the morning hunters had gone. Tanya placed her feet carefully as to not scare any of the hidden animals away, she scented that the hunters had gone towards the main stream that ran through the forest. She beckoned for her friends to follow but stay low and quiet, as they neared the stream she spotted the hunters as they finished off a deer. They gave a successful howl to signal to the tribe they made a kill, Tanya stood up and walked over to them curious about what their meals looked like before they were cut up and cooked.
"What are you doing miss Tanya won't your parents be worried your out in the forest?" Jackson question in a soft tone, Jackson never got too mad at Tanya for tagging along on the hunting trips. Saurion led the others to join them his head held high as though he had made a kill himself, Tanya rolled her eyes at Saurion since he was to be her future mate but she refused to even talk about it since she didn't love him in any way only liked him as a friend.
"Of course you future mate follows you around like a snake," Brian giggled, Tanya punched him in the gut making him coil over still laughing. Jackson beckoned for them to follow him after he asked two of his other hunters to take the deer back to camp, Jackson led the group through the forest further towards the thicker parts of the woods where most of the tastier prey hid. Tanya twitched her ears listening for any sounds of movement other than their own, she spotted a rabbit nibbling at some grass. Reacting swiftly making sure she was downwind of the rabbit she began to stalk her knife in hand, she moved with ease before she pounced grabbing the rabbit and breaking its spine by hitting it with the handle of the knife. Tanya stood up with it in her hand her ears flat with embarrassment at her first catch, Jackson gave her a nod as he began to lead them home. After getting back Tanya ignored her parents fussing and went over to the chefs hut to have her rabbit cooked, she sat watching as her rabbit slowly cooked. Her mother Moonlilly entered her eyes soft with pride, she sat down next to Tanya putting a hand on her shoulder.
"You should ask before doing that we were...." she began but was cut off by a furious Tanya, her eyes blazing.
"You always say no so don't even start with me!" Tanya snapped furiously, she turned back to watch her rabbit cook.
"I know dear but we worry and we can't afford for you to get hurt since once me and your father are gone off to our next life you will take over," Moonlilly explained, Tanya ignored her not wanting such responsibility.
"That's not the only reason I hate the fact I get treated like a baby your making me have to marry Saurion when he grows up all he wants is to gain the tribes respect so he can step on them and they won't care!" Tanya growled, Moonlilly gave a sigh her eyes still as soft as they day Tanya had been born.
"Well me and your father have been talking and once you reach the age to marry you shall choose who you wish as we would hate to see you in a loveless relationship," Moonlilly offered, Tanya gave a groan.
"What if I don't want to marry?" Tanya asked her eyes slowly softening, Moonlilly gave another softer sigh.
"You must marry at some point and give the tribe the next heir to the thrown or else they will panic and assign the strongest werewolf be them evil or not," Moonlilly explained before standing, Tanya pinned her ears ignoring anything else said to her. As her rabbit finished cooking she was curious about the sounds outside, she grabbed her now cooked rabbit and began to eat it on her way out. She spotted the merchant wagon arriving with new supplies, the humans could only trade supplies on the edge of the forest where the werewolf merchant would take the new supplies into the tribe and give them to the tribe. Tanya ran over after finishing up her rabbit to see if there was anything for her this time, she spotted a wrapped box with her name on it. She grabbed it and took it into the hut where she lived, she sat down and unwrapped the box eagerly. It was very rare that she got some sort of gift when the merchant came back from the outskirts of the forest, inside the box was a few books and a letter. Ignoring the books for the time being she grabbed the letter and began to read it, curious to see what secrets it held.

Tanya was shocked at this and was curious if her parents knew, if they did then it would make sense why they tried to keep her locked up. Tanya pulled the books out just as her parents walked in, they looked at her knowing exactly what was sent and why it was sent.
"Why........ why is it only now that I know what I truly am?" Tanya asked holding in her anger, her parents glanced at each other before sitting down.
"We wanted to wait a little longer but if we did you would have risked your safety and exposed what we have wanted to keep hidden for so long," Blake explained his eyes soft, Tanya couldn't hold her anger any longer and all she saw was red.
"How could you hide my true self from me I wouldn't have told anyone yet alone gotten as angry as I am finally knowing after thirteen years hidden from the truth!" Tanya screamed at them, they looked away and she guessed her eyes had changed. She grabbed the nearest bandanna and wrapped it around her eyes, only then did they look at her again. She was furious her ears flat and her tail lashing, she had never been so angry in her life but she felt as though she couldn't control herself.
"Please Tanya calm down...." Moonlilly began but was cut off by an angry snarl, Tanya forced herself not to lunge at her parents.
"Don't tell me to calm down when I was lied to for thirteen years!" Tanya screeched, her parents didn't even try to calm her as they knew they shouldn't have kept this from her for thirteen years when she should have known the day she was walking. Tanya grabbed the books and stormed off to her room to calm down, Tanya sat on her bed and slowly calmed herself down. She knew her eyes wouldn't change back for a little while so she decided to read the books she was sent, she opened up a book and began to read.
