The Way Through The Woods
By Rudyard Kipling

THEY shut the road through the woods
Seventy years ago.
Weather and rain have undone it again,
And now you would never know
There was once a path through the woods
Before they planted the trees:
It is underneath the coppice and heath,
And the thin anemones.
Only the keeper sees
That, where the ring-dove broods
And the badgers roll at ease,
There was once a road through the woods.

Yet, if you enter the woods
Of a summer evening late,
When the night-air cools on the trout-ring'd pools
Where the otter whistles his mate
(They fear not men in the woods
Because they see so few),
You will hear the beat of a horse's feet
And the swish of a skirt in the dew,
Steadily cantering through
The misty solitudes,
As though they perfectly knew
The old lost road through the woods ...
But there is no road through the woods.

Busted Gulch Vol. 14 Update:

Josie and Jhonny made it into the bilges and Josie made it to the engine room.  With the help of the Stoker secured Josie secured the engine room just before the ship grounded in the Salt marsh. With the help of the Kit Kats, Brody, Myna, Billy and 3 Gun were able to board the Steamboat and successfully secured it, recovering the crates of guns and arresting the men on board.  The Wraith inside of Rue, feeding on her sorrow and hatred begun to try and escape.  Jasper took her to the elders to have them help her.  The elders released the Wraith and Jasper captured it in a ring he had had made.  Both Rue and Jasper collapsed, and the elders watched over them not knowing if either would survive.  Denver and family made it abord the Liberty Belle and with a short-lived fire fight victoriously took the Belle back from the pirates.  They turned Roy and Ray over to the Sheriff and made sure all the wounded were taken care of.

A Bird Came Down The Walk
By Emily Dickinson

A bird came down the walk:
He did not know I saw;
He bit an angle-worm in halves
And ate the fellow, raw.

And then he drank a dew
From a convenient grass,
And then hopped sidewise to the wall
To let a beetle pass.

He glanced with rapid eyes
That hurried all abroad,--
They looked like frightened beads, I thought;
He stirred his velvet head

Like one in danger; cautious,
I offered him a crumb,
And he unrolled his feathers
And rowed him softer home

Than oars divide the ocean,
Too silver for a seam,
Or butterflies, off banks of noon,
Leap, plashless, as they swim.

Fall is upon us again and with it brings cooler weather and new opportunities for poetic inspiration.  I would like to encourage everyone to take a few moments and spend them with nature observing the natural poetry of our world.  Let it fill you up and inspire you!!

I hope everyone has the best week EVER and keep those pens and keyboards flying!!

Oh and one last reminder......

Cheers from you Mystres of Chatter
