Canis Major
by Robert Frost
The great Overdog
That heavenly beast
With a star in one eye
Gives a leap in the east.
He dances upright
All the way to the west
And never once drops
On his forefeet to rest.
I'm a poor underdog,
But to-night I will bark
With the great Overdog
That romps through the dark.

Lyttlejoe's Busted Gulch Volume 14:
The sudden appearance around CS startled Hillary. Despite the ropes around Hillary's ankles, that weren't exactly tight, they were still going to hurt her thought out the night. Behind her, she heard a familiar bark that belonged to Tiger. She felt a spark of hope when Tiger's paws drummed against the wood. If she noticed Raven's now broken note, she would have never let herself be brought to Devil's Moor. Bella went to go check on Josie at the hotel, knowing she was being locked up in her room. She took Josie from the hotel to the stables for some riding, just to get her outside for some fresh air. Josie and Bella both had fun together but Bella wondered how Brody was. After she returned Josie, she was going to go check up on Brody.
Thank you MysteriousDryad for another great update!!
Our April contest is now closed. We want to send out a huge thank you to everyone who participated and we will be announcing our winners soon.

Random Poetry Prompt
Write a limerick about a court jester.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
This month we are going to be writing Limericks!! This is a fairly simple poem to write, but before we get into the particulars of how to write them let me give you a bit of history, on this "poetry of the common folk".
No one really knows who wrote the first Limerick but variants of this form of poetry can be traced back to fourteenth century English, and before that a similar form was found in and eleventh century French manuscript:
The lion is wondrous strong
And full of the wiles of wo;
And whether he pleye
Or take his preye
He cannot do but slo (slay)
Here you can see that this poem contains five lines and has a similar three-beat and two-beat measure, its rhyme scheme (abccb) is different from Limericks, but it is a clearly a precursor to the modern-day version of the Limerick.
Check back next week for more about Limericks!!

Caffeine_Dreams
Poetry is...a key,
Freeing songbird caged.
Its song confined, now sings release,
Repurposed from depths within.

POET
For a moment, ask yourself what is poetry?
For many, maybe it is a form of self-expression.
For others, maybe it is a means of protest.
For some, maybe it is much more than four lines.

A relish-rain from words above.
