I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud
By William Wordsworth

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

Busted Gulch Vol. 14 Update:

Reagan was finally killed but not before he injured Brandy. Colton picked her up and took her to some place Jacob and Bruce couldn't go. Jacob did try to go with Colton, to keep his promise, but Colton refused. While Myna and Lorne took time off, AJ, Loren, and Gyn ran the café in Myna's absence. After some time passed to mourn Uncle Bubba's death, the married couple got back to work. And the latest edition of the Golden Pillars is out, with great articles on all the happenings in Busted Gulch.

The Plan
MichaelTyger

Shaking his little mousey head
"No! No! No Tom!" Jerry said.
"Wait until she has the cheese
and I run under her knees
We can share what she spills once she's in bed."

Personification is used everyday and all around us.  "Mother Nature" and "Father Time" are two common examples of personification.  Attributing human qualities to non-human "things" allows us to not only describe these things in a more relatable fashion, it gives humans the ability to quantify the affects and effects of events that are out of our control.

We experience a terrible storm, hurricane, or tornado, we say "Mother Nature" can be harsh.  We experience a beautiful relaxing Spring day, birds chirping, flowers blooming, the sun warming, we say "Mother Nature" can be loving.  "Loving and harsh" are both attributes we can apply to "mother" or "nature" but they bring to the forefront of our minds the same emotional response and gives us a basis to understand the "inanimate" through our experiences with the "animate".

In terms of poetry this opens a huge wealth of possibilities.  The use of personification in poetry is literally infinite! I challenge you to take a few moments to look around you and find the most mundane objects and see how you can use them in a personification poem.

She sweeps with many-colored Brooms
By Emily Dickinson

She sweeps with many-colored Brooms —
And leaves the Shreds behind —
Oh Housewife in the Evening West —
Come back, and dust the Pond!

You dropped a Purple Ravelling in —
You dropped an Amber thread —
And how you've littered all the East
With duds of Emerald!

And still, she plies her spotted Brooms,
And still the Aprons fly,
Till Brooms fade softly into stars —
And then I come away —

Schwethz

Poetspub is a queen having high significance,
And out of all people, I love to be with her.
Highness makes my life to go on an adventurous ride with words,
As she is always ready to solve the mystery behind my poetic mind.

lyttlejoe

Our weary old man from Nantucket
Placed all his cash in the bucket
But such was his fate
The weight was too great
So, he hired a fellow to truck it

I hope everyone has an AMAZING WEEK!! Stay cool and keep those pens and keyboards flying!
