I am going to try and keep this short and sweet. (We have awards to announce and I am excited!)

To say this year has been trying is a huge understatement, none of us will ever forget 2020 and as such it has bound us together. As the world was spinning out of control, it was a monumental comfort to be able to walk into the virtual doors of the Poets Pub and find it untouched by the chaos, it was nothing short of a blessing. Within the walls of the Poets Pub, we were able to expand and grow, comfort and encourage. We were able to solidify our existence as a global family, united in our common love of poetry, but more importantly our love for one another. Thank you Poets Pub for being a sanctuary in the storm.

I must send out a special Thank You to Bill, my partner in crime. I will be eternally grateful to you for taking a chance on me and allowing me to be a part of your crew. It is an absolute honor and pleasure to work along side you here, not only have you been my mentor, you have become a dear friend!!

Another huge Thank You must be sent out to MysteriousDryad!! Thank you so much for joining our team, you have been such a big help here at the Pub!! Your cheerful nature and kindness has been a shining light in this dark year.

Finally, a heartfelt THANK YOU to every member of the Poets Pub!! We could not have done this year's Year End Awards without you!! Thank you for your friendship and love!!

Let's make 2021 the best year ever!!

The competition in this years Poet of the Year contest was unbelievable. The judges all agreed that the quality of Poems submitted was possibly the best that has ever graced the walls of the Poets Pub and this years group of Poets were among the best ever represented and among the true Poetic stars of Wattpad.

Though the competition was tight and the quality of Poetry was exceptional, it became evident by the end of week 3 that one Poet was rising quickly above all the rest. This individual's Poetry showed a uniqueness and impact that quickly impressed. Virtually every Poem submitted was considered, each week.

This individual has been a member of the Poets Pub for many years and all the judges agreed that the maturity and growth of this individual's Poems has fallen nothing short of amazing and inspirational.

What is the Poets Pub Pubber of the Year?

Each year the Poets Pub recognizes an individual that best represents the true meaning of what the Poets Pub is.

This individual not only competes in our monthly competitions, but shows encouragement for those that also compete. Support, understanding and inspiration must be shown and of course a loyalty and understanding of the Poets Pub is critical.

The Poets Pub has a huge group of loyal Pubbers, but it seems that every year, one person rises above all the rest and exudes the true spirit of what the Poets Pub really is.

We have been talking about awarding a 'Rookie of the Year' for awhile now. Every year we have new members that join the Pub and make a huge impact, not only with their poetry, but their presence, this year's recipient has definitely done both. They have proven themselves to be a shining star in the Pub-Verse by sharing amazing poetry with us, joining in on all our contests, and interacting positively with other Pubbers by freely sharing kind and encouraging comments.

I remember reading this poem for the first time and stopping for a moment to wipe a tear from my eye. I went back and read this Poem several more times and even read it for my wife, who thought it was beautiful.

It is one of the simplest, but most powerful poems that I have ever read and it is one of those Poems that I occasionally read that I think:

Poet in Perpetuum (Founder's Award)

I started the Poet in Perpetuum award to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of outstanding Poets, here at the Poets Pub. But this award is so much more than that.

The Poet in Perpetuum award not only signifies excellence in Poetic ability, but it recognizes individuals who have been an outstanding Pubber. The recipient must show that he / she has been an outstanding member of the Poets Pub and has shown to be an inspiration, a supporter, at times a critic, a mentor, but above all else, a loyal and impeccable member of the Poets Pub.

It is the highest recognition that I acknowledge and I do not take the responsibility lightly, nor do I present these awards annually. I present as I see befitting.

The latest recipient of this award, has met and surpassed all the above criteria and has more than earned this award. I also consider him to be a friend, inspiration and one of the most influential and original Poets on Wattpad.
