9. Friends
"God damn...." I muttered as I was pinned to the floor by a certain brown-eyed Proxy.
"I gotcha now..." he said softly, pinning my wrists above my head with his calloused hands.
I smirked.
"I am not usually so easily captured. " I said with a small giggle.
"And why is this time different?"
"Because it's a trap" I said, kneeing Masky in the stomach and jumping up. I grabbed my weapon, which I dropped earlier, and stood ready for him.
So far, training with Masky has been rather challenging.
Hey, what did you guys think we were doing?!
I twirled my knife in my hand and smirked at Masky.
"Told you so~!" I sang and charged at him.
I ran head on at him, then side stepped at the last minute when he tried to counter my attack, confusing him, then turning and elbowing him in the back of his head. He fell forwards, and I pressed a knee against his back, pinning him to the ground.
"That was way too easy" I said.
"You caught me by surprise." Masky said defensively
"Su-u-u-u-u-ure...." I said.
I stood up and let him get up.
"Better luck next time, Timmy" I sang and winked at him. I could've sworn he was blushing. I turned and exited the training room.
Hmmm... what to do... what to do.... Making Masky blush was funny... let's try making Toby blush!
I strolled through the hallway, just peacefully making my way through the... endless maze of... oh sweet mother of Zalgo, I'm lost!
I stood in the middle of the hallway and huffed in annoyance and frustration.
"Dammit!" I yelled to no one.
"Lost?" said the oh-so-familiar introvert named Hoodie, who was leaning against a doorframe behind me. I turned on my heel and smiled sheepishly.
"Eh heh... kinda..." I muttered and clasped my hands behind my back and bit my lip.
"Follow me" he said and turned, walking down the corridor. I jogged up to him and looked at him.
I didn't know what to say, really.
"So, you like it here?" he said after a while
"Heh.. yeah... just finished training with Masky, and I kicked his ass." I said
He chuckled.
We turned a few more corners and approached a door. He opened the door and gestured for me to go first. I walked past him and surveyed the scene. We were in the Garden.
It was beautiful.
I gaped as I took in my surroundings.
A huge array of flowers of all types and colors surrounded the garden, the only exception being the center and a small path leading into the forest. The flowers were arranged by colour, starting with deep reds and ending with bright purples, all making a large circle of color. Hoodie stood next to me, and I could tell he was smirking.
"Thought you might like it here" he said.
I didn't respond. Instead, I took a few steps forward into the garden. Hoodie chuckled softly and picked a vivid (f/c) rose, and then gave it to me. I took the rose, and a splash of crimson flared up on my cheeks.
"This isn't the best part, though" he said, and lead me to the pathway to the forest.
"Where are we going?" I asked
"One of my favorite places here"
He lead me through the forest by hand. We were silent, but it wasn't awkward or anything. It was... peaceful.
For some reason, Follow You by Bring me the Horizon popped into my head (this video is so messed up XD)
We broke through the thick trees and emerged into a large meadow.
I could tell why it's his favorite.
~Hoodie's PoV~
Yup. I'm gonna do it. I got this. Definitely... not.
Shit.
What if something goes wrong? Dammit... my brain hates me.
I shook my head and looked at (y/n). She looked... relaxed. Happy. I smiled and stepped forward to the middle of the meadow. Basically, it was a large circle without trees, long grass, and a small river flowing close by. A few wildflowers here and there, little animals skittering between the trees... It was peaceful.
I took my mask off and laid down in the grass, taking a deep breath and closing my eyes. My arms were crossed beneath my head, acting as a cushion. I heard (y/n) coming closer and sitting next to me.
"This reminds me of Twilight. Y'know?" she said
I chuckled.
"Sadly, yes. Romance isn't exactly my cup of tea."
"I find that hard to believe."
"Oh? Is that so?" I opened one eye and saw (y/n) blushing slightly and looking away.
"Wh-what? Who said that? Not me. Heh."
"(y/n), you're a terrible liar."
She sighed and laid down next to me.
"Let's just pretend I nailed that." She said.
I laughed again, this time opening both my eyes and turning my head towards her.
But I didn't say anything, though.
She was looking at the sky, smiling and still blushing.
"I'm so bad at this" she muttered after a while.
"At what?" I ask, knowing the answer but wanting to hear it.
"This" She gestured around at everything.
"At... waving?"
"No" She turned her head and looked at me, making direct eye-contact. I smile at her, making her redden a bit more.
She grunted, but smiled.
"This is why I have no friends. Girls are always bitches, and the guys always manage to get me all... flustered."
She sighed and looked at the sky again, then sat up, looking down at me again.
"Especially you. You do it on purpose" she said
"Well, I'm not trying that hard"
She snorted and poked my stomach.
"You are an asshole." she said, giggling. I sat upright and looked her in the eyes.
You can do this.
But of course someone had to have found us.
"-Told you they would be here!"
"Oh, shut up, Toby"
Masky and Toby.
Of course.
I fall back with a thud, mentally cursing my luck.
Masky came up to us and examined us for a while.
"Was wondering were you guys went. What're you up to?"
"O-oh.. Nothing" (y/n) said
"Just hanging out. Thought she might like it here" I said, looking up at Masky with what I hoped looked either like a bored or a tired expression.
"Heh.. yeah... Just... Two friends hanging out" (y/n) said, nervously.
"God damn. You really are bad at this" I mutter
"Told you!" she said, and poked my nose. I chuckled.
Toby walked up to (y/n) and held a hand out for her to take. She looked at his hand, then up at him again.
"Where are we going" she asked
"...Food?" He said, but it sounded more like a question. I know what he's doing. He's trying to divert her attention to him, get her away from me and keeping her to himself. Asshole.
Luckily, luck was on my side this time.
"Nah. Not really hungry." she replied.
But, now it was Masky's turn.
"Say, you haven't met all the residents yet, have you?" he said. As if he'd know that.
"Actually, I have. Why are you two so persistent in making me leave?" She said. Ha! She figured it out! Take that!
I smirked at the two and stuck my tongue out. Toby returned the gesture but Masky ignored it. When (y/n) noticed Toby sticking his tongue out to me, she looked at me, making me stop and pretended to have done nothing.
Then they both sat down next to us. Shit.
(Y/n) sighed and rolled her eyes.
"You guys are acting weird, and it's something between the three of you. I can tell. Figure it out. Meanwhile, I'm going to go see my uncle." she stood up and walked away.
When we were sure she was out of earshot, we immediately started arguing.
If there's one thing we can agree on, It's that we're tired of being 'just friends' with (y/n)
But so far, that's all we were to her...
... 'friends'....
