Mission 9

The little separated building was in the center of the courtyard, and made of bricks, with healthy green ivy crawling up the walls. I walked in and found that I loved the atmosphere. The cafe was filled to the brim with kids.

Laughing and talking, they filled up the space. There wasn't an empty table in sight. I then realized we weren't the only ones waiting. The cafe had a small sitting room, stuffed with kids. We squeezed through, and put our names on the list. There was no elbow room at all. "Do you want to sit?" I asked.

"Well yeah, but there aren't any empty seats." Olivia replied. "Them why don't we empty one?" I asked, elbowing my way through the crowd, and stopping in front of a leather couch full of boys. "Could you please get up so that my friends and I can sit there?" I asked sweetly.

They ignored me. I frowned, and repeated my question louder. One boy turned to look at me. "We're not moving." "You want me to move you?" I growled. Back at my HQ if I wanted their seat, they gave it to me, no questions asked.

"What, you're a strength? You don't look like one." I felt a small pang of angie. Anget ? Anger. I grabbed one end of the couch and flipped it over, sending the boys toppling to the ground. They scrambled to their feet, and started to slows their way away from me. I stuck out my leg and tripped the smallest one.

"You can't do that here." Emil said sitting down. "Yeah, we don't bully each other here." Josh said sitting down next to me. Polly sat down next to me on my other side. She looked at me like she didn't know me, then turned away. Olivia sat down next to Emil and Polly, laughing.

She laughed and laughed, and finally gasped out, "That was great! Best thing I've ever seen. Honestly those are the most annoying cockiest people here. Besides Rosy of course." I smiled. "I wasn't going to tip them over," I lied. "But they were treating me like a-"

"Josh! Your table is ready!" The seating girl called, interrupting me. We sat down together, and I unfolded my menu. I stared at all the choices, and realized that I had no idea what I liked. All we ever ate at HQ was stale bread and water, and on missions we brought leftover sandwiches from my master's lunch.

'Hello. My name is Peter. I'll be your waiter today. Would you like to order drinks now?" I flipped rapidly to the page with the drinks on it and scanned it worriedly. I had no idea what to order. Polly glanced at me. "Do you need help?" She asked, as Josh ordered chocolate milk.

"Yes. I have no idea what I like." Polly looked at me funny. "Well it's hot out so no hot chocolate, but I only drink water and tea, so I'm not sure I should help you. Don't ask Olivia, she'll give you something gross. If you ask Em, he'll start ranting about how much the percentage of sugar is in juice. And Josh. Well Josh, it's a wonder he has all his teeth, that's how much sugar he eats. Anything he tells you will be too sweet."

"Oh and can I have extra whipped cream with that? Like a cupful on the side. "It's okay Polly. What's the best iced tea they have here?" "Oh! Ivy you don't know what to order? You should try the strawberry lemonade!" Josh said. Everyone around us grimaced. Even the waiter shook his head.

"That strawberry lemonade has so much sugar in it, one sip hurts your teeth. "Yeah, no thanks. I may not know what I like, but I did earn a privilege ticket and used it on candy once. I don't like sweet stuff."

"Don't like sweet stuff?" Josh asked, shocked. "No that can't be right! Maybe it was just that type of candy!" "No. That's not it."

"So you'd like iced tea? May I recommend the unsweetened raspberry tea?" I nodded, and he scribbled it down on his notepad. Polly ordered water, as did Emil, and Olivia got a chocolate protein shake.
