Hisses Everywhere You Go

Chapter Eight : Hisses Everywhere you go

Stiles pulled the break on the car, looking down to see trie spikes. "What do we-" Scott and I were already out of the car leaving Lottie and Stiles behind us. I jumped on the fence landing in a roll. One benefit of six years in gymnastics.

The two of us were chasing Derek and Jackson. We watch a set of cars pull up from behind the fight. I pulled Scott back behind one of the pillars holding the road above us. He tried to fight me on it a bit. I covered his mouth and pointed to Chris Agent now shooting the kanima. He stops fighting my grip and pushes me to the wall with his left arm. Both of our backs are against the cold stone. Something felt off. There was no real fight. It was just Chris, a gun and a downed kanima.

The hiss of the kanima could be heard as I took a sharp breath in. I could also hear Chris Argent's body hit the other side of the pillar. He was panting I could tell. I leaned over to Scott. "Go, you're faster." I whispered the word, feeling my own breath hit my face from how close we were. His arm came off of my stomach and then he was gone. I was still pushing against the pillar, like some force was holding me there.

I heard a body to body contact but I wasn't sure who hit who. I could hear the soft pounding of Scott's rubber soled shoes get farther and farther away. But still I stayed pressed to the pillar. My heart could be felt in my temples and my breaths became short. I closed my eyes, invisoning a set of stones to fall down at where the Argents were.

The tumble of noise gave me a cover to slip away and go after Scott. I found him Lottie and Stiles hiding on the side of a club of some sort. Scott put his finger to his lips telling me to keep quiet. I just nodded slowly walking over to the wall next to my sister. A faint hiss came from above us as Stiles and I pushed off the wall.

"Scott Lottie, Do you see that?" All four of us turn our heads to the stars as a green tail swings around the top floor window.

"He's inside." Scott whispers.

"What's he gonna do in there?" Lottie asked, waving her hands.

Scott looks around for a sec, "I know who he's after." He says, a shocked look covering his face.

"How?" I asked still looking up at the window.

"Yeah did you smell something?" Stiles adds, as we both look at our friend.

"Armani." Scott replies. I look over to where Scott's eyes where. I watched Danny slowly walk into the club.

"So what are we gonna do? Break in?" Lottie asked in a joking tone.

I wanted to come up with some witty remark about bending the law but all I do is push out my lips and nod, "Yeah." Scott Stiles and I head to the other side of the wall with Lottie shocked and following.

Stiles struggles with the employees only door. "Alright maybe there is Like a uh window we can climb through," I roll my eyes and just walk over to the door. I place my hand on the door handle. A set of flames burn from my hand to the metal till it melts off in a tin mess on the cement. "Or some kind of... handle we could melt off with witch woe-woe."

I push open the door, "Never call my magic that. Ever." I walk in after Scott.

This whole place should have a seizure warning. White lights run the walls and shitty techno songs played in the background. A set of rainbow lights run floor to ceiling and back again. JUst imagine a TV rave and that is what this place looked like.

People were bouncing more than dancing in the center of the room. A disco ball above their heads. A couple of half naked men were dancing on tables. I had to give them an a plus for the abbs, but that wasn't really important when a human killing lizard was crawling around somewhere. I leaned over to Lottie. "CHOLE WOULD LOVE THIS PLACE!" I had to yell so she would hear me.

"YEAH HER BI ASS WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR A GAY CLUB!" She yelled back.

We turn around to see Stiles surrounded by drag queens. "Nothing gets past those keen werewolf senses hun Scott?" He yells as a queen grabs his ear. (Side note : Why are drag queens always hotter than me?)

The four of us make our way over to the bar. "Two beers." Stiles asked the tender. Really Stiles, not only are we underage but there's four of us.

"Let me see some ID." The tender said. Stiles handed over his driver's license. "How about two cokes." The tender walks away.

A second tender comes over and places the two drinks in front of the boys. "That ones's paid for." He said nodding at a guy on the other end of the bar as he hands Scott his drink. Scott turns and gives the rest of us a cheeky smile. The kind of smile that made anyone want to kiss him.

"Oh, shut up." Stiles told his best friend as he took his drink.

"He didn't say anything." I try.

"Yeah well his face did." Stiles replise.

The four of us turn to look at the crowd. I start to skim the ceiling for Jackass. "Hey I found Danny." Lottie says.

"And I found Jackson." I replied.

Jackson starts to crawl closer to his friend. His claws slipping under a set of wires. His tail hangs down, swinging in beat to the music. "Get Danny. Cait come with me." Scott says taking my hand and pulling me into the crowd.

The two of us stalk Jackson. My one hand balled into a fist a flame burning inside and my other was still being pulled by Scott. His left hand has claws extended. A smoke stream covers Jackson's body. When the smoke clears Jackson is gone with it. The kanima gone like the wind. That was the first time I really thought about the fact that Scott and I were holding hands.

I let go of his hand dropping it to my side. My head is still pointed at the ceiling looking for the man covered in scales. A second stream of smoke came this time falling to the crowd. "Scott can you see anything?" I half yell as we wade through the hordes of people bopping along to the beat.

"No, can you?"

"Not at all."

A body falls to the ground. We look at each other real quick before going towards it. A few more fall, including Danny. Jackson stands over his friend, claws making the ground next to him. "JACKSON." Scott yells but to no effect. A set of red eyes could be seen in the crowd. This time I take Scott's hand pulling him to the fight.

"DEREK DON'T" I hear the words come out of my mouth as a woman screams. People start to back away from Danny and the other parlized bodies. Danny is covered in fever sweat and still from the venom of his friend.

The screams get father as Scott moves me to the roof. He pushed the door open. A line of blood could be seen on the lower level. He jumps down then helps me. We let go of one and others hand and start to follow the crimson liquide. Every few feet there is a new sloch of blood. Jackson's body lay next to a car.

He was covered in blood and coughing. Me and Scott move to either side of the boy. It was like we were afraid to touch him. Our hands hovered over him but never made contact. Two sets of feet could be heard from behind me. "Scott who's coming?" I ask, still looking at the bloody boy.

"Stiles and Lottie." He whispers back looking at a few of the bullet wounds. "Cait what do we do now?"

"Uhh. Call 911." A say hands starting to come closer to my body rather than Jackson.

"Yeah that sounds like a good idea. But we can only tell them what is happening inside the club." Scott takes out his phone as Stiles and ottie help me off the ground.

"Yes Hello.. Me and my friend were leaving a club, but as we left a few people fell lipm on the ground... Yes they are all breathing..That would be the same club.. Okay thank you." Scott finished the call and I pulled him off the ground.

The four of us make our way to the front of the club as a set of ambulances come into view. I start to walk back to the parking lot where Jackson is, heading back to the powder blue jeep.

I climb into the back as Scott stumbles into the passenger seat. "I couldn't get anything out of Danny." Scott says turning in his seat to face the rest of us.

"Okay can we just get the hell out of here now, before one of my Dad's deputies sees me?" Stiles asks, hand drumming on the steering wheel. Stiles' father pulls up in front of the car. "Can this get any worse?" Stiles asked. Jackson moans from the trunk of the car. "That was rhetorical." Stiles yells at the Wittmore child.

"Stiles you need to get rid of him." Lottie says.

"Get rid of him? Lottie we are at a crime scene and he's the sheriff."

"Just do something Stiles!" I let the word pour out of me. My head was facing Jackson who was half awake in the trunk. Stiles clambers out of the car, complaining.

Jackson starts to sit up, "No. NO. NO. Jackson please stay quiet." I say pushing his body back down. All he does is moan, "Be quiet!" I whisper yell.

"What, what's happening?" He asks his head about to hit the top of the car.

"I would say I'm sorry, but I'm not." I punched him across the face, knocking him out again. "Ow." I say shaking out my hand. I turn back to the front of the car where Stiles and his ada are looking at the three of us. "Hi."

"Hey." Hello." We all say as if they could hear us, giving a smile and wave.

"Scott what is Stiles say?" Lottie asked moving so place her head in between the front seats.

"Uhh.. We were here helping Danny get over a breakup."

"Okay, that acutely makes sense." I say. Semi-proud that Stiles came up with a plausible lie. Stiles comes back to the car after that and drives Lottie and I home.

"Call us if he does anything!" I yell as Stiles and Scott pull away.

"OKAY!" Scott yells back.

"You ready yelled at for a week?" I ask Lottie.

"By mom and Dad or the twins?"

"Oh the twins. Mom and Dad don't care as long as we say we were with friends. I mean it's before midnight."

"Are you sure we can't just tell them what happened to them today?"

"We aren't telling them! I know I want to too, but it's safer if they don't know."

"Just like it was safer for me?"

"It was, I mean you were almost torn apart by Isaac tonight."

With that the two of us head inside for an evening of sisterly scream time.

The next day in class Stiles and Jackson are missing. A work crew is putting up cameras in almost every hallway. That god it's illegal to put them in classrooms. (And bathrooms. But if you even thought about doing that, I will report you for pedifelia). Me and Lottie were trying to be normal all day. Our siblings were out of school for the day after yesterday's incident. Danny was out of school after the club, and like I said Stiles and Jackass were MIA. Every step I took was one closer to a new set of cameras or pair of eyes. Also the three beta's of Derek Hale were missing so there's that.

I know why the cameras are set up. It catches werewolves. Everything one looks into the carmar or walks past it, their eyes will create a lens flair. I was terrified that Gearde Argent knew who I was. Not what I was, I could care less about the witch thing, but if he knew the legend of the doppelganger, we would all be totally f**ked. Each step was a reminder that the Argents place themselves in the middle of everything because Kate committed mass murder. Halfway through the day Allison disappeared as well.

"SCOTT!" I called down the hall once the last bell rang.

He spun around, "Cait, Hey." My heels seemed to float as I descended the stairs.

"Where you going?"

"Hospital, to intargat Danny."

"Get I'm coming with."

"Why not. Where's your sister?"

"Oh Lottie is already there. The twins were allowed to go home last night if they came back to the hospital today just to check on them. Lottie had to drive them because they need a way home and it was the middle of the work day." I climb into the car.

"Cait, there's something I wanted to ask you?"

"What is it?" I started to do my trigonometry homework seeing as this would most likely be the only time I had to do it.

"The other day Derek said you were right. That he thought about what you said. What did you even tell him?"

"I told him and I quote, 'Don't you get? You're not the only Alpha in the room.' That was it."

"So what, you agree with what he said last night? I'm an Alpha of my own pack."

"Yeah, and I'm part of that pack. Remember when Peter trapped us in the school and tried to get you to kill everyone?"

"That was not a fun night. But yeah I remember."

"You said yourself he wanted you to kill your old pack." I look over at my friend in the driver seat. He had a small smile on his face. "Okay turn for a question."

"Go head." Scott put the blinker on, I felt like I was monitoring his road test.

"When Erica pushed you to a bunch of lockers a little while ago, she whispered something into your ear. What the hell did she tell you?" His smile wavered.

"Nothing."

"She said something. And it got in your head so I want to know what she said."

"You really want to know?"

"Yeah, I really want to know."

"She was talking about Allison and she said I only had eyes for her." He paused, I noticed his adam's apple go out. "Then she turned to look at you at the other side of the hall and leaned into my ear. She said that I only have eyes for Allison, you only have eyes for me." My eyes widened, not from embarrassment. But because I had no idea if it was true. I mean really did I have eyes for Scott? I truly have no idea if what Erica said was true. "Cait?"

"Yeah?"

"You just kinda went deadly silent."

"Well, she said it to get in your head." And maybe mine.

"So it's not true."

"No, no it's not." The rest of the car ride was quiet and uncomfortable. I tried to only think about the math work in front of me.

When we got to the hospital, it was still dead silect from both of us. We made our way over to where Danny's room was. I knocked on the door frame.

"Cait, McCall. What are you guys doing here?"

"Hey Danny. We were just wondering if we could ask you some things." I said, only after did I realise it sounded like his noborer is a muder. To be far his best friend is a murderer.

"Uhh yeah sure. Asks away." Danny started to take off his shirt. (Okay why is everyone in this town packing peaks. I mean really?)

"We just wanted to know if anything has happened between you and Jckson?" Scott asked out front.

"Yeah everything's fine." He said, taking a seat.

"You're sure about that?" I asked, taking a few steps into the room.

"Yeah, we're fine." He starts to look in his wallet, "Did the cops have to take my fake ID?" Danny asked rhetorically.

"You didn't do anything to make him angry?" Scott presses on.

"How angry?" Danny laughs.

"One a scale of one to ten. One being 'kinda irritated,' and ten being 'wanting to kill you...violently' ?" I answered for Scott.

"Well Jackson's kinda always a four. But we're good. I was actually doing him a favor." He stood back up and got a new shirt.

"What favor?" Scott asked leaning on the outside of the bed.

"I was recovering a video for him. I put it on my tablet." The tablet that was stolen. "Which is in the trunk of my car and probably still at the club." Danny says exasperated.

"What was on the video?" Me and Scott asked at the same time. Mighty hastily may I add. So not suspicious at all.

"Okay that was creepy. But I'm not really meant to say."

"Danny what if we told you this is life and death?" I added hoping it would win him over.

"I'm not supposed to say." Well that backfired.

"Okay, well thanks."

"Yeah Thanks Danny." Scott and I both sigh as we leave the room. Scott spins back around. "What if I told you, I could get your fake ID back?" Well played McCall

We run out of the room, only to be stopped by Mrs. McCall. "While I think you being here to cheek in on your friend is all kinds of commendable, I've got to play tought mom right now, even though I'm not very good at it."
"Right now?"

"YES right now! Hi Cait." I give a small wave. "I got a call from school, you are failing two classes."

"I- I know. That's why I'm going to study with Stiles." Scott says.

"And why is cait here?"

"Chole and Evlynn said I was getting annoying so I went to cheek on Danny." White lies never hurt.

"Do you know that if you fail even one of your midterms, that they're going to hold you back?" Okay, yes but lizard jackson killing people is a little more important. I mean I can help him with it.

"What did the pricalpla say that?"

"Yes." oh frick you Argent. "All of your friends are gonna be juniors, while you are still a sophomore. Do you understand Scott?"

"Yeah Mom I do."

"And he will be a junior with us. I'm make sure of it Mrs. McCall." I say as we both slip away from Scott's mother.

On the way to look-out point we stop at Danny's car. There was no tablet and also like a bomb sorta thing. But most of all no tablet. We pulled up to the look out point. Stiles and Allison were pacing, stopping every few steps then starting again. I slammed to car door shut, russelling some of the leaves on the ground.

Stiles came over to Scott and I, "Hey where's Lottie?"

"With the twins. So what do we know?" I respond in a threatening tone.

He started to explain everything. I mean everything. Things you don't want to know, like what it felt like to place a pair of pants on Jackson. But more importantly he told us Jackson couldn't remember being the kanima. Me and Scott explained what Danny had told us. And how Scott planned to steal a fake ID back for the goalie.

"If Jackson can't remember being the kanima then he won't remember taking the tablet." Scott realizes as the four of us walked closer.

"Why the hell would he steal the thing if he doesn't know what's on it?" Stiles asked. Like we would know the answer.

"What if someone else took it?" Allsion asked, placing her hands in her pockets.

"Why would someone else want to take it." My voice came out like a milkshake after a blender, smooth just not quite right. Like the words were in the wrong form. I can't explain it, but it felt off.

"Yeah, unless someone else knows what he is." Stiles adds to the question.

"Someone protecting him?" I say, my voice coming back to what felt normal.

"Yeah maybe, the beastiray said, a kanima seeks a friend, right?"

"Okay hold on. So someone watches Jackson make a video of himself turning into the kanima, and then just erases part of it, so he wouldn't know?" Stiles asked, matter of factly.

I looked down at the town below us, "Stiles is right. Who would do that?"

"Someone who wanted to protect him?" Allison suggested.

"There's something else, "Scott speaks, "You said the only thing you found online about the kanima is that it goes after murderers. What if it's true?"

"That would explain the Benet Argent." I noticed Allison glaring at me, "Sorry but, if a shapeshifter knew someone was killing this like it, that someone now classifies as a murderer."

"I hate when you make sense." She mumbles. I had to curl my lip in so I didn't smile.

"It still can't be true. It tried to kill all of us. I don't know about you three but I haven't murdered anyone recently." Stiles argues.

"No that was different. A form of self-defence."

"Yeah Cait has a point. I don't think it was trying to kill us." Scott turned his head to look at me, "Remember when we were at Isaac's the first time, it just went right by us, as if.."

"We weren't even there." I finish for him.

"And Stiles, the kanima didn't kill you at the garage, but It had every chance to.

"It still tried to kill Me and Derek at the pool." Stiles fights back.

"But did it?" I ask remembering the night at the pool.

"It would have, it was waiting for us to come out."

"What if it was trying to keep you in." Scott said. You could almost see the wheels turning in his head. His place was tilted at the ground, and his eyes were slim.

"Why do I feel so violated all of a sudden?" Stiles asked, shrugging his shoulders a bit.

"Because something else is happening." I say.

"And we have no clue what it is." Scott sighed. "We don't even know what is going on. Forget why someone would feel the need to protect him."

"Know thy enemy." Allison recites, like a book was placed in her lap. "It was something my grandfather said."

"All right I got it, kill Jackson. Problem solved." Stiles said a smile finding it way to his face.

"As much as I would love to lower Jackass into a shallow grave, We are trying to save him. Not kill him." I fight back, no matter how it pains me.

"Not to mention he risked his life for us. Against Peter. Remember that?" Scott tells of his friend.

"Yes but what did we just find out? He got the bite from Derek. It's funny how he just got exactly what he wanted by supposedly risking his life for us. Truly it's funny." Stiles bites back.

"It doesn't mean he's not still worth saving." I internally smik at what Scott said. This man was destined for greatness, and I could say without lying he would succeed at that destiny.

"It's always something with him though." Stiles practically says the sentence on one breath, forcing it out of his mouth.

"He doesn't know what he's doing." Allison and I are quiet, silent really as the boys bicker.

"So what?"

"So, I didn't either." My mind flashes to the serial killer look Scott had in his eye on the second full moon after his turn. The one where he didn't get shot by an arrow and bombarded by Derek. "Remember when I almost killed you and jackson?" Scott asked his girlfriend. I wanted to ask when that happened but decided against it. "I had someone to stop me. He doesn't."

"That's his own fault." Even if Stiles was right, it felt like I watched him push an icicle through Jackson's heart. Maybe it was his fault but he still needs help.

"Doesn't matter if we can save him we have to try." Scott finishes.

I walk over to the ledge, dangling my feet over the edge. You would think the rocks would hurt, but it was relaxing. I gripped the edge with my hands. A small wave of power moves over my body creating a wind around the four of us. The sounds of the air moving were the only thing blocking out the sound of my own heartbeat. The sun was setting, and luck for us the sun sets in the west. It was beautiful, and felt almost normal. But even one earth 33 I wasn't normal, here I'm not normal.

I watched as the sky turned red, then orange, then pink like candy, then blacked. Stars sprinkled the sky. I started to wonder if some were really stars of just another earth that could be seen. This time a real wind brushed over me. I was alone now. Not truly Allison and Scott were in the car behind me making out, but I was alone by the ledge. Nothing or no one is stopping me from falling. I closed my eyes taking in the faint smells around me. A few floral scents, but it was mostly just wet leaves, that were barred under the dry ones. It was peaceful, all thoughts left my head. It was just me, the sky and the moon.

I tried not to look behind me. Stiles was long gone trying to smooth things over with Lydia after the other night. And as for the happy couple....well yeah this place was like their spot sooooo. I kept my eyes glued to the scene in front of me, the small town lights glowing under the clear sky. Time didn't feel like such a problem and any thought other than the air around me was cleared from my mind.

I lifted my hands a few times, playing with the ground. Moving the earth, making the leaves float. Anything that looked pretty. Making flowers blossom, or trees shake.

A sound like metal being ripped apart cut through the beautiful night. I turned my head to see the kanima version of Jackson slipping away into the night. The door to the van Stiles had him in was ripped off. I hastily stood and made my way over to the scene. The handcuffs were bent and misshapen on the floor. Chains were ripped from the floor.

I took a breath making my way over the car. Not truly ready for what I may see. Thankfully Scott and Allison were just sorta cuddling in the back of the car. I knock on the window, scaring the crap out of Allison. "Sorry, but you two need to see this."

I lean on a tree a few paces away as Scott and Allison get dressed. Then I lead them to the van. "I have to tell my father." Allison whispered so softly I could barely hear her. Scott took a few steps to the side, walking away from the van. "Scott, he could kill someone." Allison tries.

"Okay tell him. Tell him everything." Scott says his head hung low.

"I should tell mine two." We all turn to see Stiles. "Sorry Cait sent me a text."

"This is all my fault." Scott bites out to himself.

"It's not." The words leave my mouth before I have time to process them, "But Stiles and Allison are right. We need help here Scott. We're a group of teens trying our best, and right now that doesn't seem to be enough."

"You're right." Scott was still faced away from the rest of us.

"Stiles how are you going to make your Dad believe all this?" Allison asked.

"I don't know." The boy answers honestly. Just moments ago I felt at peace, now It felt like my mind was waging war on itself.

Scott turned around, his eyes a bright yellow. "He'll believe me."

I lit my hand giving all of our faces a ghostly glow as the flame moves in the small winds, "He'll believe us."

Scott Stiles and I arrive at the Sheriff station. It was like a weight was placed on my shoulder and every lie I ever told was what kept it from falling off when I moved. "Can you buzz us in? I have to see my Dad." Stiles told the person working at the desk. Scott held the door open and Stiles looked back at Me and Scott. We both nodded, giving concerned smiles before going all the way in the room.

Jackson sat on the couch in the Sheriff's office, "Scott, Stiles perfect timing. Cait do you mind waiting outside?" The Sheriff rounded the corner. I nod and step back out of the room.

I tried to think of the feeling I had when we were at Look-out point but the uneasy feeling in my stomach refused to leave. My phone vibrates from inside my pocket.

Allison Argent

Lydia can read Archaic Latin.

She says that the kanima doesn't seek a friend.

It seeks a master.

No one was protecting Jackson...

They were controlling him.
