Y/N-
As we settled back into our routine at home and work, I found myself adjusting to this new, fuller version of life with Taehyung. Being together felt natural, but blending our personal relationship into our professional environment was something I was still getting used to.
At the office, even though everyone knew we were married, I liked to keep things as professional as possible. But Taehyung, of course, had other ideas. Every now and then, he would find little ways to tease me, slipping in playful comments or sneaking glances that made my cheeks heat up.
One afternoon, as I was deep into a report, I felt his presence nearby. I looked up, expecting a quick question or some work-related topic, but he just leaned against my desk, smirking.
"You look really cute when you're all focused, Mrs. Kim," he whispered, just loud enough for me to hear.
I could feel my cheeks heating up, and I quickly glanced around to see if anyone was paying attention. "Taehyung, we're at work!" I hissed, trying to keep a straight face. "You're supposed to act professionally here."
He shrugged nonchalantly, the smirk still in place. "I am acting professionally," he replied, though his eyes sparkled with mischief. "It's just that part of my professionalism is keeping my wife happy and complimented."
I rolled my eyes, unable to hide a small smile. "If you keep distracting me, Mr. Kim, I'll have no choice but to report you to HR."
"Oh, I'm terrified," he joked, placing a hand over his heart. "But if you're reporting me, I get to file a counterclaim: My wife is way too pretty, and it's affecting my productivity."
I laughed despite myself, feeling a rush of affection. Taehyung's playful spirit had a way of making everything feel lighter, even on busy days. "You're impossible," I murmured, shaking my head as I returned to my screen.
But then, a minute later, I felt him gently slide something over to me—a small, handwritten note.
Let's have lunch together? I miss spending time with you.
I glanced up to find him giving me a hopeful look, and I felt my heart soften. We'd both been so busy catching up on work that we hadn't had much time for each other during the day. I nodded subtly, mouthing, "Okay," and watched as his expression brightened.
At lunch, we found a quiet spot in the break room, away from prying eyes. Taehyung set down our food, and we sat across from each other, sharing a quiet moment. It felt special—simple but meaningful.
"So, Mrs. Kim," he began as he opened his container, "are you getting used to being my wife yet?"
I looked down, a shy smile playing on my lips. "I think so," I replied, taking a small bite of my meal. "But you're not exactly making it easy to keep things professional, you know."
"Can't help it," he said with a grin. "You bring out this side of me."
I laughed, shaking my head. "You're really something, Taehyung."
He reached across the table, taking my hand in his. "You're something too," he said softly. "I'm really lucky, you know that?"
I squeezed his hand, feeling a surge of warmth. "So am I."
The rest of our lunch was filled with laughter, light banter, and quiet moments that made my heart swell. Even at work, Taehyung had this way of making me feel cherished, and I found myself falling even more in love with him every day.
Back at our desks, Taehyung continued his little teasing remarks, but they were gentler, subtler. I knew that no matter where we were, he would always find ways to make me feel special, and I couldn't wait to see what else our life together would bring.
TAEHYUNG-
Standing beside Y/n as we walked into Jungkook's success party, I glanced at her, noting the excitement in her eyes. She had told me so much about Jungkook over the years they'd been friends, and tonight, she looked genuinely thrilled to celebrate his achievements. I was happy to accompany her; seeing her this radiant made me feel glad to support her in anything that brought her joy.
After a few minutes, Jungkook himself approached us, an easy smile on his face. I could see the familiarity between them right away—there was an effortless warmth in his greeting as he said, "Y/n!" pulling her into a quick hug. They laughed about some shared memory that left her smiling, and he extended his hand toward me with a friendly, "You must be Taehyung. I've heard a lot about you."
I shook his hand and returned the greeting, though I noticed an odd flicker in his gaze as he looked back at Y/n, one that didn't quite settle well with me. It could be nothing—just an old friend sharing a special moment, but somehow, a nagging thought in the back of my mind wouldn't let it go.
Jungkook led us to a table, chatting with Y/n along the way. "You're always so busy now! I thought I'd have to practically beg you to come," he teased.
Y/n laughed, brushing it off. "You know me. If there's anyone I'd make time for, it's you," she said, her voice warm. She shot me a quick, reassuring smile, like she could feel my gaze on her, and I relaxed a bit.
The three of us settled into an easy rhythm of conversation, though I noticed the way Jungkook seemed to gravitate toward Y/n whenever possible. It could've been friendly banter, but each time he made her laugh, there was a twinge of something I couldn't shake off.
I leaned closer to Y/n at one point, catching her eye. "You want a drink?" I offered, hoping the small moment would settle whatever unease was building in me.
"Sure," she replied with a smile, gently squeezing my hand as I stood up.
Jungkook's voice followed me as I walked to the bar, "Taehyung, don't spoil her too much now. I used to be the one pampering her," he said with a laugh.
I chuckled back, trying to keep the mood light. "She deserves it," I replied casually, but there was a hint of protectiveness I couldn't quite mask. I returned with drinks and tried to let go of the worry, focusing instead on the warmth Y/n radiated by my side.
JUNGKOOK-
Seeing Y/n walk into the room made my heart feel strange—like this rush of joy and a pang of something I hadn't felt in a long time, maybe even ever. She looked incredible, glowing in a way that spoke of contentment and fulfillment. Beside her was the man I had only seen in photos, Taehyung, her husband. He was handsome and carried himself with quiet confidence, the kind of person you'd notice without trying to.
Y/n's face lit up as she spotted me, and before I knew it, she was in front of me, pulling me into a quick hug. I'd missed her more than I wanted to admit, and the warmth of her presence hit me all at once. For a second, I forgot she wasn't just my Y/n anymore. She had her life, her new world, and her happiness beside her.
I greeted Taehyung with a handshake, sizing him up slightly without meaning to. "You must be Taehyung. I've heard a lot about you," I said, keeping my tone friendly. He shook my hand with a firm grip, polite but reserved, his eyes calm as he took me in.
As we moved to a table, I made sure to steer the conversation in a light-hearted direction, teasing Y/n like I always used to. "Still so busy, Y/n! I thought I'd have to practically beg you to come," I said, grinning at her. It felt easy, like slipping into old rhythms, and for a moment, I could pretend nothing had changed.
She laughed, brushing it off. "You know me. If there's anyone I'd make time for, it's you."
I felt a flicker of warmth in my chest, but when I glanced over at Taehyung, I saw a look in his eyes—a flicker of something guarded, something protective. It made me pause, reminded me of the reality of things.
Taehyung leaned over to Y/n, speaking in a low tone. "You want a drink?"
She smiled, giving his hand a squeeze. "Sure."
As Taehyung made his way to the bar, I couldn't help but call after him. "Taehyung, don't spoil her too much now," I joked, trying to keep things light, though a part of me felt strangely possessive, almost territorial. "I used to be the one pampering her."
He chuckled, but there was a calm strength in his response. "She deserves it." He didn't say it in a competitive way, but something about it made me feel almost...left out. Like he and Y/n were in their own world—a world I'd left behind, a world I'd never belong to.
As he returned with the drinks, I watched the two of them together. Y/n leaned close to him, her expression soft as they exchanged quiet words. For a moment, I felt like an outsider, watching the person I used to know so well feel more at home with someone else. It was a strange feeling—pride for her happiness, but a hollow ache in my chest I couldn't quite ignore.
When I looked at Y/n again, I saw the little moments I'd missed. I noticed the way she looked at Taehyung, the way she reached for his hand so naturally, like it was a reflex, something instinctive. There was a new light in her eyes, one that I couldn't take credit for.
That was the moment it hit me, the reality settling deep in my chest. Y/n had moved on; she was happy. She wasn't that girl I'd known years ago, waiting and hoping. She was strong and complete in her own way, and she had someone by her side who made her feel that way.
Just then, Tzuyu came over, greeting us with her usual warmth and excitement. "Hey, everyone!" she called out, breaking through the small bubble we'd created. She hugged Y/n tightly, then gave me a friendly squeeze on the shoulder before turning to Taehyung with a warm smile.
"So, this must be the famous Taehyung!" Tzuyu said, her eyes twinkling as she looked him up and down, clearly interested in sizing up the man Y/n had married. "I've heard so much about you."
Taehyung, ever polite, gave a nod and smiled. "All good things, I hope."
"Of course!" Tzuyu laughed, but she gave Y/n a playful nudge. "Y/n's been pretty tight-lipped, but I think she's just shy to admit how smitten she is." She winked at Y/n, causing her to blush a little. I could see that she and Taehyung shared a quick, quiet smile that seemed to speak volumes about their closeness.
I watched this interaction, feeling a bit out of place. The way Taehyung and Y/n looked at each other, the way Tzuyu teased them—it all felt like I was peering into a life that had moved on without me. It was a bittersweet realization.
"So, Jungkook," Tzuyu turned to me, bringing me back to the moment, "how's everything going in the States? Have you been keeping up with things here?"
"Yeah, mostly," I replied, putting on a smile. "Things have been good, but I do miss everyone here. It's not the same over there, you know?" I glanced at Y/n as I spoke, trying not to let too much slip through, but she caught my gaze and smiled back, her warmth rekindling a bit of that old connection we used to have.
But before I could say anything else, Taehyung slipped his arm around Y/n, a casual but protective gesture. She leaned into him naturally, and my chest tightened just a little more.
"So, how are you adjusting to this married life, Y/n?" Tzuyu asked, grinning.
Y/n laughed, "It's been...an adjustment, but a good one. Taehyung's patient with me, and I don't know, it just feels right. Like everything is as it should be."
I forced a smile, even though her words hit a tender spot. Watching her light up as she spoke, and the way Taehyung seemed to bring out this side of her, I knew it was time to accept it fully. She was happy.
"Well," I said, breaking the silence with a chuckle, "I guess I've got some catching up to do when it comes to love lives over here."
