Chapter Seventeen: Gone
Byun Baek Hyun POV
"Taehyung, open the door!," I yelled as I banged on the door with all my strength.
No reply.
"Taehyung! Kim Tae -," before I could tell again, Taehyung answered, "Leave me alone. Please."
I bit my lower lip.
I had never seen my brother so sad and emotional. His voice was shaky almost like a sob.
"Taehyung... I am going to have to leave too," I informed.
No reply.
"I'll have to go to US with BTC," I spoke.
No reply.
"Tae, will you be okay alone? Should I stay back for you, hmm?," I questioned.
I don't think I can leave him alone. He's gone psycho. And I'm worried that he might do something silly and end up in jail.
My protective elder brother senses were now tingling.
Millions of thoughts raced through my mind.
What if he starts doing drug!?
Or worst -
What if he kills a man?!
I don't want that.
"Kim Taehyung, open the door! Let me see your face!," I shouted as I banged the door again.
No reply.
"KIM TAEHYUNG!," I screamed again, trying my best to break open the door but it didn't budge.
"KIM -!"
The door opened up and Taehyung appeared before me.
His hair was a mess. His eyes were red and his cheeks were wet. Yet he smiled at me and said, "I'm fine."
Seeing this side of him made me so sentimental that I almost cried.
I hugged him tightly, stroking his head. "My baby! Oh! Promise me you'll be good while I'm gone."
"Ugh. I'll be good," Taehyung murmured as he pushed me away from him; probably embarrassed.
"Then should I go now?," I asked.
"You won't be packing?," Taehyung questioned.
"My stuffs are packed. I headed towards the building as soon as I came here, remember?," I said with a sheepish smile.
Taehyung nodded with a laugh.
"Come on. One last hug," I smiled as I opened my arms towards him.
"You are disgusting!," he chuckled as he hugged me close.
"One last kiss, maybe?," I suggested pointing to my cheek.
"No way!," he yelled, flushing bright red as he pushed me away again.
I just laughed.
"I'll go now. Take care, Tae!," I said with a smile.
He nodded.
As I turned to leave, he called me again, "Hyung?"
"Yeah?"
"Take care of BTC, okay?"
"Don't worry. I will."
And with one last farewell, I left his room. As I came downstairs, his friends surrounded me.
"How's he?," Taeyong asked in a worried tone.
"He's good," I replied.
"Oh. That's nice. I'll go make him his favorite curry!," Seokjin smiled as he headed to the kitchen.
"Listen. I have a favor to ask of you," I spoke up.
"What is it?," Yoongi asked.
"While I'm gone, please keep an eye on Tae. I don't want to see him gone psycho when I come home," I said.
They nodded with a laugh.
"We'll keep an eye on him!," Namjoon said.
"Don't worry!," Ten assured.
"Can we go meet him now?," Mark asked.
"Yeah. Sure," I smiled.
They smiled back. And then they were rushing upstairs to meet the sad one. I turned and saw Taeyong standing there, his head hung low.
"What is it, kid?," I asked.
"I don't want to see him," he muttered avoiding eye contact.
"Why?"
"Because I'm his rival... And he hasn't forgiven me for what I've done."
"If you were his rival, you would've gone home by now and yet you are still here," I informed.
Taeyong hesitated.
"Go meet him. I'm sure he has forgiven you," I smiled at him.
"Are you sure?"
I nodded. "And besides, it's not like BTC will be staying in US forever," I said. It was like a hint.
Taeyong smiled. "Alright."
I nodded back.
I watched him go upstairs and disappear in the hallway.
I let out a deep breath of relief.
One thing's for sure -
Taehyung's friends won't leave him alone.
I left the house, closing the door behind, wondering when will I be coming back home again.
Kim Tae Hyung POV
I was feeling a bit better now. My stupid but awesome friends made me laugh and smile.
I also made some new friends.
I hadn't ever thought in my life that Lee Taeyong would end up being my best friend.
And here they were, staying back for a sleepover when I hadn't even agreed to it.
We ate the dinner made by Seokjin and Ten. And then after watching some movies, we chatted and then proceeded to sleep.
Seokjin, Taeyong and Mark slept in my room, on the floor while the rest slept in my living room.
It feels good to have your friends with you.
RING!
At around 2:26 am, my phone started buzzing.
"Turn it off!," Taeyong ordered with a groan.
With half opened eyes, I picked up my phone from the bedside table. I didn't see who it was. I just answered, "Um... Hello?"
"Taehyung," a voice spoke.
My eyes shot open. I sat up straight. I was fully awake now. "Hoseok?! Is that you?!"
When I half shouted that, the people asleep in my room, woke up too and demanded to put in on speaker.
"It's me! Did I ruin your sleep?"
"No."
"I miss you, Taetae!"
"I miss you too."
"Listen well, Tae!"
"Hmm."
"I know you don't like me the way I like you but I want to tell you that when I come back, I'll make you mine!"
"Ho -," before I could say a word, another voice yelled, "My turn!"
"Jimin?"
"Tae, I'm calling you from the airport right now! Our flight leaves in a few minutes. I am already missing you!"
"Jimin, I'm missing you too!"
"I know! Don't listen to what Hoseok said just now because it'll be me who takes your heart."
I heard Hoseok groan behind Jimin.
"Wait for me, Tae!"
"I -," again I was interrupted by another voice, "Go away!"
"Jungkook, is that you?"
"Oppa! It's your Kookie! We'll be back. I don't know when but Baekhyun said we will be!"
"That's nice!"
"You know the solo song I was working on for BTC's new album but it was canceled."
"Yeah."
"I finished it. Wanna hear it?"
"Yes!," my friends replied excitedly.
Jungkook chuckled. "You're not alone. I hope there are no girls there."
"What?! Tae, you brought girls home?! I'll kick your butt once I'm back," Jimin yelled in the background.
"It's just us. No girls," Seokjin assured.
"Tae wouldn't betray me!," Hoseok spoke at the background.
"Sing the song, Kookie!," I spoke.
Jungkook chuckled.
And then he started to sing.
We listened in aw as he sang. That sweet voice... I'll have to wait for a long time to hear it again.
I felt my stomach coil up.
My heart felt like it was gonna blow up and break.
I couldn't swallow.
Yet again I felt my eyes stinging.
The song ended.
I could only hear Jungkook catching his breath.
"Taehyung, I miss you."
"Wait for us!"
"It's time for us to leave now. Hyung is calling us. Say something."
My friends were staring at me now. I could feel my tears drip down onto my hands.
"Tae, say something," Seokjin said as he nudged me.
I couldn't.
Words were stuck in my throat.
"Tae, they are leaving! Just say something!," Mark ordered.
What should I say?
"Hey dumb boy! Speak!," Taeyong screamed at my ears.
I brought the phone close to my mouth.
I smiled as I yelled, "You guys better come back fast and make me mad! I won't wait forever!"
My friends laughed.
BTC laughed as well.
"We'll be home soon," Jimin spoke in a cheerful tone.
And the other line went dead. Only the long bleep could be heard.
They were gone; and this time for real.
Gone.
Come back soon.
I love you.
