Chapter 63
●●●
The bar Jungkook had picked was the least busy one Jungkook had been able to find. He didn't want to put Taehyung into a situation similar to that house party again. And to avoid that he wanted to always have a good view of who approached them. They sat down in one of the corners pretty close to the bar. There was a decent amount of other people in the bar, but at least enough to be seated.
They were sitting on opposite sides of the table, but Taehyung was still holding onto Jungkook's sleeve and Jungkook wasn't going to stop him from doing so. Admittedly he adored the way Taehyung would search for any kind of body contact.
"Are you in the mood for something sweet?" Jungkook asked, trying to decide what cocktail to get Taehyung. When Taehyung nodded to his question Jungkook got up, quickly patting Taehyung's hand before letting go. "I'll get us our drinks."
With that Jungkook left for the bar counter. The bartender behind it was busy taking some girls' orders. Jungkook watched in awe as he moved quickly, preparing their drinks in close to no time. Once he was done he smiled at the girls one last time before turning to Jungkook.
"What can I get you?"
"One Pina Colada and one Mojito. And do you have any really strong shots here?" The music was comfortably loud. Just quiet enough to still be able to understand others. Jungkook didn't need to yell into the bartender's ear.
"We actually do. We have some Pincer Shanghai Strength here. Should I get you one too?" The bartender offered.
"Three actually, please." The bartender seemed surprised but didn't question it. Instead he moved over to make Jungkook's drinks while Jungkook waited patiently.
"Are you new around here? I don't think I remember seeing your face before and I'm sure I would have remembered it." One of the two girls that had been talking to the bartender before stepped closer, taking a close look at Jungkook. "Yeah no, I haven't seen you around." She was pretty cute even if she wasn't Jungkook's type.
"Yeah, I'm not from around here. Just on vacation." Jungkook explained and the girl smiled sweetly, bringing her drink up to her lips and sipping.
"So a tourist. Already have someone to show you around the city? I know a couple of cool places." She was clearly flirting with him, but before he could answer the bartender placed his drinks down on the counter. Just how quick was that man?
Jungkook really didn't want anyone joining their vacation but he also didn't want to be rude. Maybe... "Maybe you could tell me the places and I will write them down?"
He watched as the girl's smile fell a little at the polite rejection but she quickly masked it, instead gesturing for him to take his phone out. Then she started listing places Jungkook was pretty sure he had visited with his parents as a child. Certainly nothing new or too intriguing. But he still wrote them down. Maybe some unexpected inspiration would come out of them.
"Jungkook?" Jungkook could feel Taehyung slip into the space next to him, pressing against his side. It gave him half a heart attack. Just hearing and feeling Taehyung grab his arm when he wasn't expecting it was still too much. "Are you coming?"
Jungkook looked back up at the girl to check for her reaction, but her eyes were now completely fixed on Taehyung. Jungkook knew that gaze. She was mesmerized by Taehyung's looks. Taehyung seemed to notice too, but the expression on his face seemed almost a little happy. Which made no sense at all. Why was Taehyung happy about catching some girl's interest when he usually recoiled like he had touched a snail when anyone accidentally brushed him?
"Who is your handsome friend?" The girl was now asking Jungkook and he had to bite back a laugh. Why was it so funny that she had just ditched her interest in him within seconds after she had spotted Taehyung? Well, Jungkook was certainly not offended. He more than understood it.
The next thing Taehyung said though gave Jungkook half a heart attack again. "We're together, not friends." Taehyung slipped his hand into Jungkook's as if it was the most normal thing.
Jungkook just about managed to keep a straight face, but he was pretty damn sure that if the girl had focused on him she would have noticed it was a lie right away. But Taehyung's face was a blessing right now since it seemed that it was all she could focus on.
For a couple more seconds they stood there without talking, Jungkook's heart racing so fucking much he could hear it in his ears, and the silence seemingly thickening and thickening as the girl simply stared at Taehyung before slowly nodding. "Oh... that makes sense. Sorry to bother you." She gave both of them a quick awkward smile before leaving. Jungkook could still tell that she was clearly flustered though. The second she was out of reach he turned to Taehyung, who was still standing next to him.
"We're together?"
Taehyung looked at him for a couple of seconds before grabbing his drink with one hand and pulling Jungkook towards the table with the other. "That's what you used when that girl tried flirting with me at the café last year."
Oh... right. Jungkook blinked as he followed Taehyung, blush shooting to his cheeks. Why the hell had he not realized that? Just for a second that had felt like Taehyung had meant it. That was fucking dumb from him. He just hoped Taehyung hadn't caught on just how much that had thrown him off.
"Scoot over. I'm sitting next to you." Taehyung declared once they were back by their seats and Jungkook had sat down. Jungkook did, watching as Taehyung slipped onto the bench next to him. He placed his cocktail down on the table.
"Why that?" Jungkook asked.
"Maybe less people will come here then." Taehyung declared, turning his back to the rest of the bar and facing Jungkook. Maybe that was a good idea. Taehyung's face certainly had proven to be a magnet in the past. Jungkook was just one of many victims.
He took a big sip of his drink. Why was he sad now?
His sadness didn't stay for long. How could it when Taehyung was actually talking for once, telling different stories of the little time (two hundred years, fucking scary) he and Jimin had spent together. Jungkook also decided to tell Taehyung a little about his own childhood, his parents and so on. And then of course there was the body contact. The constant body contact that was driving Jungkook crazy because apparently Taehyung was a cuddly drunk... or maybe he was just cuddly and Jungkook had only recently become part of his to-cuddle-list. Either way Jungkook was both gay panicking as well as having the time of his life.
Of course the whole sitting with his back to the room only kept some people away and some still tried asking for Taehyung's number. Taehyung stuck with the excuse of Jungkook being his boyfriend and Jungkook felt a small part of himself cry in happiness every time he did. Yes, it was fake, but it also sounded so real.
"How are you feeling?" They had made it out of the bar, down the street and pretty close to the hotel, but Jungkook kind of didn't want the day to end yet. Not when he was almost scared that maybe tomorrow morning Taehyung would be more distant again. No longer sticking to his arm like glue. It was a scary thought. Especially when within one evening Jungkook had already gotten used to feeling Taehyung right beside him.
"A bit dizzy. I'm tired." Taehyung admitted. Jungkook had hoped he wouldn't say that because he had wanted to suggest watching a movie, but he also wasn't going to force Taehyung. It was pretty clear that the siren wasn't being dramatic either. Jungkook could feel that the hands that were tightly wrapped around his arm were no longer human hands. Or at least they were clawed human hands. Luckily his pullover had pretty wide sleeves though so they were mostly hidden between them and his body. At least to the random people they walked past on the street.
It was weird that Jungkook entirely trusted even a drunk Taehyung who couldn't control his shifting anymore to be careful with his claws not to hurt him. Was it stupidity at this point? Jungkook really wasn't sure, but he couldn't get himself to worry. Not when Taehyung was holding onto him so carefully.
"I think I will watch a movie once we're at the hotel. If you want to join me that's okay, or I could turn the volume down and watch it alone."
Taehyung yawned and Jungkook swallowed a little when he saw just a little bit of sharp teeth. Yeah, he clearly had to get Taehyung back to the hotel room before he accidentally turned full siren and belly flopped on the asphalt.
"Come on, it's not far." He reached out to run the free hand Taehyung wasn't holding on to through Taehyung's hair. When Taehyung leaned in more, closing his eyes at the touch, Jungkook had to channel all of his strength not to coo out loud.
They made it to their hotel room in one piece, even if Jungkook's spirit had certainly left him when Taehyung had leaned against his chest in the elevator and just closed his eyes the whole way up to their hotel room. Jungkook had been sure that Taehyung was going to fall asleep the second his body hit the bed but he didn't. Instead he moved to the bed, sat down on the edge and waited for Jungkook to come too.
But brushing his teeth had priority so Jungkook did exactly that, telling Taehyung to just lay down and not wait for him. Eventually he decided to shower too, since he was feeling just a little icky after all the alcohol. Then he drank some water before returning to the main room. What he found there was certainly not something he had expected. Maybe because of the heat Taehyung had undressed completely aside from his underwear and was now spread across the bed. Jungkook couldn't help but take in just how beautifully muscular Taehyung's body was. He looked so thin and yet everything he could see was muscle. Strong, durable and dense muscle.
He wanted to walk back into the bathroom to splash his face with some water but Taehyung stopped him before he could do so. He opened one of his eyes, the familiar and yet unfamiliar grey void staring at him. "Movie?"
How had they ever gotten to this point? How had they gotten to the point where Jungkook saw a very scary creature with black claws, sharp teeth and grey, colorless eyes lie in his bed and all Jungkook's brain was trying to comprehend was how pretty said creature was. No threat. Just horny.
"Yeah, movie." Jungkook muttered, changing the towel he had had wrapped around his waist for his sweats and a white t-shirt before slipping into bed next to Taehyung. Jungkook just about had the time to start the movie before Taehyung wrapped his arms around him, placing his head on Jungkook's chest. This was still more than new for Jungkook. Taehyung hadn't really done this since the night he had murdered that guy and back then Jungkook had been all over the place. So back then he hadn't really thought about it that deeply.
But now, with the movie playing in the background, Jungkook and Taehyung both a little drunk and Taehyung's clawed hand not very subtly slipping under Jungkook's t-shirt and feeling up his stomach, Jungkook could barely even breathe in. That was how bad he was gay panicking.
"What are you doing?" God why did he sound scared? Well, better than horny, but still.
"Don't worry, I won't hurt you." Taehyung reassured, but that was not the problem. Luckily Taehyung elaborated more than just that.
"Clothes are in the way... usually when I cuddle with Jimin we're not wearing clothes. You know... underwater and all." Taehyung moved Jungkook's t-shirt up even further before looking up at Jungkook questioningly. "Do you mind taking off the shirt?"
"No." He was a fucking dumbass. Why was Jungkook doing this to himself. Just how dumb could he be? He could have just said that he didn't want to undress, but now he had to. Which meant this was going to get even more intimate and Jungkook was not ready for that.
He sat up and pulled his t-shirt over his head, throwing it onto the floor. He would take care of that tomorrow. Once he had laid back down Taehyung was right by his side again, curling up comfortably, his head on Jungkook's chest, one hand around his waist, the other Jungkook did not see. Even Taehyung's legs were wrapped around one of Jungkook's though. All in all it was a lot more to take in than Jungkook's drunk brain could handle.
So instead he just wrapped one of his arms around Taehyung's back, they were already cuddling in the first place so that wouldn't make much of a difference, and focused on the movie. He could feel Taehyung's warm, steady breaths against his chest.
"I don't like the scents here... they are weird." Taehyung muttered after a long pause, adjusting his body a little and burying his face in Jungkook's neck instead. "Better... You smell good." Jungkook blushed. Taehyung smelled amazing too. Jungkook still wasn't sure if that was also part of his siren allure, but Taehyung, as always, smelled like the best sides of the ocean without any downsides. The scent calmed Jungkook down.
After that Taehyung didn't say anything for a while, and when his breathing got slower and his whole body relaxed Jungkook realized he had fallen asleep. Right in his arms. It felt like a bit of a fever dream. The night of that kill was nothing compared to the way Taehyung was now lying half on top of him. For a while Jungkook was too scared to make even the slightest movement, but after a while he realized that Taehyung was in a deep slumber.
Jungkook felt weirdly accomplished that Taehyung trusted him enough to let his guard down like that and he knew he would never ever betray that trust. Taehyung actually meant a lot to him. More than just a simple crush... even if Taehyung knew nothing about that, it was okay. All Jungkook wanted for them was to get along well and to continue exactly like this. That's all he could ever ask for.
