Mini update!

Chapter 46

„When... what did you... how..." Jungkook cleared his throat. His mind was racing and he was still very obviously drunk. Coming up with a clear question he wanted to ask was a lot harder than it should have been.

"You're back." Yeah, that was quite obvious. Jungkook took a step forward, still having a bit of a hard time comprehending that Taehyung was actually there. Jungkook had spent so many hours just casually sitting by the beach and thinking about the times he and Taehyung had talked that part of him was unsure that Taehyung really was there.

Taehyung nodded his eyes slowly moving down Jungkook's body. His eyebrows furrowed in something that seemed quite akin to confusion. Jungkook was about to explain his outfit when Taehyung opened his mouth to speak. Something that was still a little hard to grasp for Jungkook. Taehyung spoke.

"You look... different." His eyes moved back to Jungkook's face before seemingly getting distracted with his hair. A little self-conscious Jungkook quickly brought his hand up and ran it through his hair to make it a little messier again. The way Taehyung was used to it.

"You smell different too." Did Taehyung seem a little displeased? Jungkook had had no idea that scent played any kind of role for the siren, but then again it really wasn't surprising he had a sensitive nose. Part of Jungkook was happy that Taehyung seemed to like his natural scent more than the cologne he was wearing.

"I was at a party earlier and just... dressed up." He looked down at his blouse, feeling a little weirdly on display like this. How did he usually feel more comfortable picking up girls looking like this but at the same time feel this awkward when Taehyung was the one looking at him?

It wasn't even the fact that he was showing a lot of his body with the outfit. Taehyung had seen him naked way too many times, but it just felt weird. Especially because Taehyung very clearly didn't like the outfit.

He watched as Taehyung's tail slowly changed shape, as well as his hands and ears. Once he was in his human form he pulled his legs out of the water and got to his feet, seemingly a little wobbly at first. He probably hadn't stood on those feet for months.

Almost out of reflex, Jungkook walked towards him to support Taehyung. To help him with his balance, at least until his legs had gotten used to the solid ground beneath them. Taehyung took his hand, seemingly grateful as he looked down at his legs.

It was probably weird having two legs instead of one tail after so many months of just the latter. When he looked back up at Jungkook, Jungkook had a hard time looking away. Taehyung looked amazing. He'd barely realized it because in the past the change to Taehyung's face had been so gradual. It was weird to say because Taehyung's face had never actually been 'dull', but in a way duller. Likely due to the lack of time he had spent in the ocean.

Taehyung seemed to be glowing in comparison to the last time Jungkook had seen him. His face was radiating that otherworldly beauty. Or maybe Jungkook had just forgotten just how stunning Taehyung was. It was hard to let his mind do him justice when the real deal was this hard to grasp.

Whichever it was, Jungkook found himself unable to look anywhere but at Taehyung. Taehyung, the deadly siren who he had spent the last half year missing like they had been close friends. Maybe they were.

Jungkook wasn't sure what to call their relationship but he really really had missed Taehyung. As he looked at Taehyung he couldn't stop himself from voicing his thoughts out loud. Something he seemingly was generally incapable of around the siren.

"I'm seriously happy you're back... I missed you."

Jungkook could feel his heart beat a little faster when Taehyung's expression turned softer. It was a minimal change and yet Jungkook was able to read him like an open book. Apparently even all the time Taehyung had been gone hadn't destroyed that skill.

And before Taehyung could say anything back Jungkook hugged him. Not as awkwardly as their previous hugs had been. No, Jungkook was too drunk for that half assed bullshit. Instead he wrapped his arms around Taehyung and squeezed him tightly. For a second Taehyung did nothing, seemingly surprised at Jungkook's sudden initiative, but then Jungkook could feel him relaxing and hug Jungkook back.

"You still smell weird." Even in a hug Taehyung didn't lose his bluntness. Jungkook couldn't help but laugh. This was it. This was the feeling he had been missing these last few months. The feeling of talking to someone and just... feeling anything while doing so.

Taehyung made him feel many things. Amused, awkward, nervous and even happy. And Jungkook needed exactly that. It was weird that what he had been trying to find in a partner these last few months was exactly what he found in Taehyung.

"I smell weird because of cologne and probably because I drank earlier. Don't worry, when we get home I can go take a shower." Jungkook couldn't suppress a smile. They were going to go home. Jungkook was finally not going to be alone again.

But something surprised even him. When he had sent Taehyung off, he'd known that he was going to miss Taehyung. He had known he wanted to see Taehyung again and continue showing him the human world and maybe even learn more about him. But he hadn't expected to get over his fear. Because even on an objective level Taehyung was terrifying.

And yet, as he pulled his blouse over his head to give it to Taehyung so they could somehow make it home, he didn't feel anything even closely resembling fear. All he felt was happiness that Taehyung had finally come back and Jungkook wasn't alone anymore.

Taehyung had come back home.

As I said quite short update today and I don't wanna give you guys hope but I might go and try updating more often now BUT no promises. This is just an attempt lets see how it goes!
