STRANGE THINGS ARE ALWAYS AFOOT.

          But in a place like Hawkins, a little old town with its perfect pretty cul-de-sacs and primly trimmed grasses and flawlessly arranged mailboxes? No, the strange never would have a home here.

           But the Penleys have always prided themselves on being the exception, always the unacceptable. The town of Hawkins would have much rather kept that tragedy rotting with the skeletons it shamelessly hid in the trenches of its closet. The disaster that came with the disappearance of Joe Penley was too much for the poor residents to handle, stifling the memory of him like a shameful secret, only to be brought up near the eerie crackling of a campfire.

          It seems, however, that the Penley family can't be ignored for too long. When the second Penley daughter, Elaine, goes missing, just days after another Hawkins teen disappears, there's no doubt that something is so incredibly wrong. But the people of Hawkins have always been unrivaled at remaining in blissful ignorance, and they would stay stuck in that outdated bullshit even if hell froze over and its ice infests each and every crevice of their precious town.

          A harrowing connection to Hawkins Laboratory, a shadow lurking in the woods, voices heard through turned-off televisions, and a pyro-kinetic little girl on the run makes the case of Laine Penley far too deafeningly sinister to be silenced. As the family doesn't stop probing into things they shouldn't, (it's the one thing they do best, really), it's certain that something has disturbed the stillness of the town.

          One thing is clear: Hawkins has never been stranger.
