No matter what I wish to say
What I feel each passing day
Words and feelings that glow
With love and adoration
Even if I try, oh no
You can't hear any of my appreciation
Though I wish you to know

The gnawing desperation of my heart
To catch a glimpse of you
The longing tears me apart
It hurts me through and through
How you colour my poetic art

How you inspire me
To be better
Than I used to be
How you somehow push me
To break free
From my mind's depressive fetters
How somehow you heal me
It cannot reach you.

It cannot reach you
How I long for a release
Of all this, what I have written
All I can do is scream, "Please!"
No use, by this pain of love I am smitten.

It cannot reach you
How I serenade the sea and sky
With poetry written for you
To get some release, I try
I wish you knew
I really do.

Watch me now, I cannot think
Properly, my mind is starting to sink
In that painful love.
Do you see the stars above?
They're starting to shine brighter
The sea.
It was salty, now sweet
I feel the sands shift by my feet
As if to say,
"My dear, it's okay.
Many have felt this way."

My words are getting weaker
My prowess with poetry bleaker
So close to descending into blank verse
But ah, there's something worse.
No matter how hard I try
No matter how long I cry
All this, it cannot reach you
My love, I cannot reach you.
