INT. BLACKSMITH SHOP - AFTERNOON

Funny Ninja of Lightning JAY WALKER is arguing with Daring Ninja of Water NYA SMITH. JAY tries to hug NYA but she shakes him off.

JAY
Please Nya, don't leave me.

NYA
I'm sorry Jay, but I'm looking for somebody a bit more brave. Somebody who faces his fears head on, instead of running away.

JAY
I am such a person!

NYA frowns.

NYA
I'm sorry, Jay. I just don't feel excited by this relationship anymore.

NYA leaves.

JAY sits down, looking defeated.

Moments later, Bold Ninja of Thunder JAYLYN barges in looking flustered.

JAY
Goodness, Jaylyn! Is everything okay?

JAYLYN
I'm afraid not.

JAY
What is it? Don't keep me in suspense...

JAYLYN
It's ... a Serpentine ... I saw an evil Serpentine terrorise a bunch of children!

JAY
Defenseless children?

JAYLYN
Yes, defenseless children!

JAY
Bloomin' heck, Jaylyn! We've got to do something.

JAYLYN
I agree, but I wouldn't know where to start.

JAY
You can start by telling me where this happened.

JAYLYN
I was...

JAYLYN fans herself and begins to wheeze.

JAY
Focus Jaylyn, focus! Where did it happen?

JAYLYN
Ninjago City! That's right - Ninjago City!

JAY springs up and begins to run.

EXT. A ROAD - CONTINUOUS

JAY rushes along the street, followed by JAYLYN. They take a short cut through some back gardens, jumping fences along the way.

EXT. NINJAGO CITY - SHORTLY AFTER

PYTHOR a Scary Serpentine terrorises two children.

JAY, closely followed by JAYLYN, rushes towards PYTHOR, but suddenly stops in his tracks.

JAYLYN
What is it? What's the matter?

JAY
That's not just any old Serpentine, that's Pythor !

JAYLYN
Who's Pythor ?

JAY
Who's Pythor ? Who's Pythor ? Only the most Scary Serpentine in the universe!

JAYLYN
Blinkin' knickers, Jay! We're going to need some help if we're going to stop the most Scary Serpentine in the universe!

JAY
You can say that again.

JAYLYN
Blinkin' knickers, Jay! We're going to need some help if we're going to stop the most Scary Serpentine in the universe!

JAY
I'm going to need Golden Weapons, lots of Golden Weapons.

Pythor turns and sees Jay and Jaylyn. He grins an evil grin.

PYTHOR
Jay Walker, we meet again.

JAYLYN
You've met?

JAY
Yes. It was a long, long time ago...

EXT. A PARK - BACK IN TIME

A young JAY is sitting in a park listening to some pop music, when suddenly a dark shadow casts over him.

He looks up and sees PYTHOR. He takes off his headphones.

PYTHOR
Would you like some chocolate?

JAY's eyes light up, but then he studies PYTHOR more closely, and looks uneasy.

JAY
I don't know, you look kind of Scary.

PYTHOR
Me? No. I'm not Scary. I'm the least Scary Serpentine in the world.

JAY
Wait, you're a Serpentine?

JAY runs away, screaming.

EXT. NINJAGO CITY - PRESENT DAY

PYTHOR
You were a coward then, and you are a coward now.

JAYLYN
(To JAY) You ran away?

JAY
(To JAYLYN) I was a young child. What was I supposed to do?

JAY turns to PYTHOR.

JAY
I may have run away from you then, but I won't run away this time!

JAY runs away.

He turns back and shouts.

JAY
I mean, I am running away, but I'll be back - with Golden Weapons.

PYTHOR
I'm not scared of you.

JAY
You should be.

INT. BOUNTY - LATER THAT DAY

JAY and JAYLYN walk around searching for something.

JAY
I feel sure I left my Golden Weapons somewhere around here.

JAYLYN
Are you sure? It does seem like an odd place to keep deadly Golden Weapons.

JAY
You know nothing Jaylyn .

JAYLYN
We've been searching for ages. I really don't think they're here.

Suddenly, PYTHOR appears, holding a pair of Golden Weapons.

PYTHOR
Looking for something?

JAYLYN
Crikey, Jay, he's got your Golden Weapons.

JAY
Tell me something I don't already know!

JAYLYN
The earth's circumference at the equator is about 40,075 km.

JAY
I know that already!

JAYLYN
I'm afraid of dust.

PYTHOR
(appalled) Dude!

While PYTHOR is looking at JAYLYN with disgust, JAY lunges forward and grabs his deadly Golden Weapons. He wields them, triumphantly.

JAY
Prepare to die, you Scary potato!

PYTHOR
No please! All I did was terrorise a bunch of children!

NYA enters, unseen by any of the others.

JAY
I cannot tolerate that kind of behaviour! Those children were defenceless! Well now they have a defender - and that's me! Jay Walker defender of innocent children.

PYTHOR
Don't hurt me! Please!

JAY
Give me one good reason why I shouldn't use these Golden Weapons on you right away!

PYTHOR
Because Jay, I am your father.

JAY looks stunned for a few moments, but then collects himself.

JAY
No you're not!

PYTHOR
Ah well, it had to be worth a try.

PYTHOR tries to grab the Golden Weapons but JAY dodges out of the way.

JAY
Who's the daddy now? Huh? Huh?

Unexpectedly, PYTHOR slumps to the ground.

JAYLYN
Did he just faint?

JAY
I think so. Well that's disappointing. I was rather hoping for a more dramatic conclusion, involving my deadly Golden Weapons.

JAY crouches over PYTHOR's body.

JAYLYN
Be careful, Jay. It could be a trick.

JAY
No, it's not a trick. It appears that... It would seem... Pythor is dead!

JAYLYN
What?

JAY
Yes, it appears that I scared him to death.

JAYLYN claps her hands.

JAYLYN
So your Golden Weapons did save the day, after all.

NYA steps forward.

NYA
Is it true? Did you kill the Scary Serpentine?

JAY
Nya how long have you been...?

NYA puts her arm around JAY.

NYA
Long enough.

JAY
Then you saw it for yourself. I killed Pythor .

NYA
Then the children are safe?

JAY
It does seem that way!

A crowd of vulnerable children enter, looking relived.

NYA
You are their hero.

The children bow to JAY.

JAY
There is no need to bow to me. I seek no worship. The knowledge that Pythor will never terrorise children ever again, is enough for me.

NYA
You are humble as well as brave!

One of the children passes JAY a Magical Lamp

NYA
I think they want you to have it, as a symbol of their gratitude.

JAY
I couldn't possibly.

Pause.

JAY
Well, if you insist.

JAY takes the Lamp.

JAY
Thank you.

The children bow their heads once more, and leave.

JAY turns to NYA.

JAY
Does this mean you want me back?

NYA
Oh, Jay, of course I want you back!

JAY smiles for a few seconds, but then looks defiant.

JAY
Well you can't have me.

NYA
WHAT?

JAY
You had no faith in me. You had to see my scare a Serpentine to death before you would believe in me. I don't want a lover like that.

NYA
But...

JAY
Please leave. I want to spend time with the one person who stayed with me through thick and thin - my best friend, Jaylyn.

JAYLYN grins.

NYA
But...

JAYLYN
You heard the gentleman. Now be off with you. Skidaddle! Shoo!

NYA
Jay?

JAY
I'm sorry Nya, but I think you should skidaddle.

NYA leaves.

JAYLYN turns to JAY.

JAYLYN
Did you mean that? You know ... that I'm your best friend?

JAY
Of course you are!

The two walk off arm in arm.

Suddenly JAYLYN stops.

JAYLYN
When I said I'm afraid of dust, you know I was just trying to distract the Serpentine don't you?
